Belated Welcome!

Hello Jimeee! Welcome to UESPWiki. It's always good to have new members. If you would like to help improve any of our pages, you may want to take a look at the following links:

If you would like to spice up your userpage, click here for a list of userboxes you can use, including a guide to making your own.

When you're editing, it's always a good idea to leave edit summaries to explain the changes you have made to a particular page, and remember to sign your talk page posts with four tildes ~~~~. Also, the "show preview" button is a great way to view the changes you've made so far without actually saving the page (our patrollers really appreciate it!).

Feel free to practice editing in the sandbox or discuss the games in the forums. If you need any help, don't hesitate to contact one of our mentors. Have fun! eshetalk 15:58, 26 June 2012 (UTC)

A Favor?

Hey Jimeee! Your Neloth page looks great – what an effort! Let me know if you need anything checked as I currently live in Tel Mithryn and may have the “right save”. I also need a favor – for my sandbox on Varona. To be exact, I can’t trigger these lines in the game. They’re all connected to the Old Friends quest. But is it even possible to trigger that quest without completing Reluctant Steward? The quest page is very unclear (like most pages from Tel Mithryn), so I thought I’d ask you if you ever heard the lines in the game. Thanks in advance! ☺ --Krusty (talk) 18:49, 3 April 2013 (GMT)

Invitation to join a translating team.

Please help us translate this
Dear Jimeee,

You are invited to join a team that will be attempting to translate the unknown language on the Word Wall in the 6th Chapter of the Black Book Waking Dreams, the Word Wall that gives the third word ( D3V ) of the Dragon Aspect shout. There are strange, moving words behind the Dragon Language text on the Wall, written in an unrecognisable language. The Dragon Language part of the Word Wall has already been translated. It is the moving words in the unrecognisable language that this project hopes to translate.

This project will be happening in my sandbox, which is open to collaboration by invited team members. The talk page of the sandbox is open to other contributors as well. I hope to see you get involved in the project. I have hand-picked you because you may have previously been involved in Elder Scrolls language translations in the past on the wiki, particularly if you worked on the Magic Script Alphabet or the Elder Alphabet pages.

Kind regards,
Daric Gaersmith

Thanks Jimeee, your information was really helpful. I think I have seen that image of the collected glyphs from the Black Books and Word Wall before, but I can't remember where I saw it. According to the File History, you have only just uploaded it to post it into my sandbox, and the File Usage and What Links Here don't show it in use anywhere else on the wiki. Am I just having a bad case of déjà vu, or does that image already exist in another form somewhere on the wiki? I even tried Google's "visually similar" image search, to no avail. Advice

Hello and welcome to UESPWiki! Thanks for your interest in the wiki; however, you seem to have been making multiple edits to a page by not using the show preview button, clogging up the Recent Changes in the process. We appreciate your enthusiasm, but keep in mind that each edit needs to be patrolled, so multiple consecutive edits create an unnecessary hassle on those who patrol. So please utilize this feature! You may also want to look over our style guide and Getting Started guide. Feel free to ask if you have any questions. ThuumofReason (talk) 11:49, 26 April 2013 (GMT)

Userspace Patroller?

Hey Jimeee! I noticed the little episode with the multiple edits – don’t worry to much about it, you work mainly in Sandboxes on huge and complex projects, so I think it was a small oversight. In any case, I think that Velyanthe is correct – you should consider getting yourself auto-patrolled, either as a Userspace Patroller or Autopatrolled User (the former is easy, the latter is hard). I can quickly promote you to Userspace Patroller as I think you definitely deserve it – and then we can avoid these things in the future. What say you? --Krusty (talk) 18:24, 26 April 2013 (GMT)

Yeah, that sounds like a good idea. Sorry if I bugged you with that message, I'm still getting used to being a userpatroller myself, so I didn't stop to consider that sandbox editing is a bit different from editing in normal namespaces. Working on sandbox projects is a lot of work, and it's a great help to the site, so I'm sorry if it seemed like I was ragging on you. :-) ThuumofReason (talk) 18:30, 26 April 2013 (GMT)
No problem ThuumofReason. Thanks Krusty, I'll message you about the Userspace Patroller rights you mentioned. --Jimeee (talk) 20:17, 27 April 2013 (GMT)
Hey Jimeee! Congrats! You are now officially a userspace patroller - this means your sandbox edits will be auto-patrolled. Of course, that doesn't mean you should run amuck in an editing spree, but you should have no further problems when doing several edits in a row. Please add the appropriate user boxes to your user page - and keep up the good work! :) --Krusty (talk) 21:01, 27 April 2013 (GMT)

Neloth

Hi, I skipped over Neloth when adding summaries, but do you want to make sure one is included in your revamp of his lore page? You can just copy and paste the following (I took the Dragonborn image of the gallery, so you'll want to remove that, as well, assuming you end up using that image; totally up to you):

{{Lore People Summary
|race=Dunmer
|gender=Male
|title=Master

|loc2=Tel Mithryn

Question about Tel Mithryn

Hey Jimeee! You should know your Neloth and Tel Mithrun by now(!), so I thought I’d ask you something. I just did the Briarheart Necropsy quest and when I returned to Tel Mithryn, the ash spawn attack triggering Old Friends were in full swing. Will this always happen? And what exactly is the “order” of the side-quests in the mushroom city? Best, Krusty (talk) 21:49, 15 May 2013 (GMT)

Zombie

Arena description: "These undead are dangerous indeed, for they carry with them the curse of their deaths. Those who are struck by a zombie have a chance of getting a rotting disease, which will slowly but surely eat away at their health, eventually turning the hapless victim into a zombie also."

Hope that helps. Minor EditsThreatsEvidence 14:31, 23 May 2013 (GMT)

Oops, I didn't think to check Arena, thanks. Should these lore pages have refs, much like what you have been adding for places and people? --Jimeee (talk) 14:39, 23 May 2013 (GMT)
I don't plan on adding refs to the Flora or Bestiary lore categories, but I don't have a good reason for skipping them besides my own laziness and apathy. I assume that the entries for these categories are less prone to error than the others, but that is purely an assumption. I hardly ever look at them, and I don't think I've ever really fact-checked them. Minor EditsThreatsEvidence 14:48, 23 May 2013 (GMT)

Hi Jimeee! I didn't update your sandbox to reflect the current version of Neloth's page, since there may be a couple of other changes due to the split. You'll have to keep an eye on the page and make sure anything relevant gets copied to your sandbox. Robin Hood  (talk) 20:50, 31 August 2013 (GMT)

Wipsandbox

Hey there Jimeee, just wanted to give you a heads up that your wipsandbox notice on Lord Harkon has been removed for the time being considering it's been there since May. Of course you can still finish the page in your sandbox, the notice has just been removed per policy. Hope all is well! •WoahBro►talk 18:37, 20 October 2013 (GMT)

Cite Book problem

The issue with that is a caching problem. As you can see at Lore:Meridia it is fixed now. What I did was visiting the book page, then purging the Meridia page. But usually just letting it sit for one or two days will fix it too. --Alfwyn (talk) 13:58, 18 February 2014 (GMT)

The Posting of the Hunt

Whats the actual text you want to show in Online namespace, so I can know how it wants tweaking before tweaking it? --Kiz(email - talk) 18:30, 26 February 2014 (GMT)
Actually, rather than noincludes like I though, other versions of the book paste text into Gamespace, rather than transcluding to Lorespace like I thought they did... --Kiz(email - talk) 18:32, 26 February 2014 (GMT)

I suppose the text can be posted to the gamespace. I just thought the transclusion was the standard way. The ESO book is here: http://esohead.com/books/45-the-posting-of-the-hunt. --Jimeee (talk) 18:35, 26 February 2014 (GMT)
Silencer did what I was going to do, so I suppose it doesn't matter either way, just seems odd that the others are posted rather than transcluded... --Kiz(email - talk) 18:36, 26 February 2014 (GMT)
Yeah, I suspected it was using the tag thing he used, but I had no idea how to do it. Thanks!--Jimeee (talk) 18:37, 26 February 2014 (GMT)
So, that should be fixed. I just worked out the oddity in the last paragraph. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 18:51, 26 February 2014 (GMT)

Coldharbour

I think that the current Coldharbour page you are working on for ESO should actually be moved to The Wailing Prison. Coldharbour is a location that appears several times throughout the game, with completely separate zones each time. The tutorial, however, takes place specifically in the Wailing Prison and the subzones of that location. We need to make sure we aren't being to general when setting up these pages. If you need some inspiration, I would take a look at how Oblivion was dealt with in Oblivion, where each gate or type of gate had its own page. That is how Coldharbour should be. Jeancey (talk) 18:29, 4 March 2014 (GMT)

Sure, I agree with that. I'm not exactly sure how it appears in game, so I was really just guessing that these sub locations were part of "Coldharbour". I didn't know that they were all classed as sublocations of the The Wailing Prison. It would make more sense to do it as you suggest and then have the The Wailing Prison link back to the parent Online:Coldharbour location. --Jimeee (talk) 18:41, 4 March 2014 (GMT)

Books and notes

Just be aware, I'm not sure whether we have confirmed that the categorization of the non-Shalidor's library books and notes is actually from the game, or whether it has just been created by ESOHead to make categorization easier (their format may require such categorization). I am reluctant to use this categorization here without confirming it. Jeancey (talk) 17:05, 5 March 2014 (GMT)

At the moment its just a sandbox to organize my thoughts and work when creating book pages, but I can confirm the categorization is directly from the game. I'll update you once a few things are in order. --Jimeee (talk) 17:09, 5 March 2014 (GMT)
Btw, once we get the collection thing working, please don't just add them to every page, since that is SO many. It would be better to have HnB or another bot do it. Jeancey (talk) 18:42, 10 March 2014 (GMT)
Oh, ok. On a similar note, I think the Eiditic Library may be a problem. So many books listed there is not allowing me to save now so I can't seem to add the rest. These particular collections might need to be split into their own pages? --Jimeee (talk) 18:45, 10 March 2014 (GMT)

Defessus

I think that Magister and Lector are titles for a person named Defessus as there are several books that mention this name. Jeancey (talk) 14:51, 14 March 2014 (GMT)

Yeah, well spotted. Although it's odd for the title/rank to come second. (And apologies for forgetting the sortkey 99% of the time)--Jimeee (talk) 14:59, 14 March 2014 (GMT)

Lore versions of notes/poems

Hey, just so you're aware, there's no requirement that every work in ESO must have a corresponding Lore page. The purpose of the Lore Library is to have a central repository of works that are useful in furthering the encyclopedic goal of the namespace. Thus, works like Beware!, Betnikh Limerikh, or Betrayal, that do not convey any notable or citable new information, don't necessarily need to exist in the Lore namespace as well as that of their game. It is a fairly subjective call though! -- Hargrimm(T) 17:53, 24 March 2014 (GMT)

Hi. Yes, I'm certainly aware that non-loreworthy texts don't require a lore page, however poetry may be an exception as its a work of in-universe art that may be worth documenting. Some reflect culture or a person etc. but some are just vague. Also, our Books by Subject page has a Plays, Poetry, & Riddles section which was my main indicator when deciding to create these lore pages. --Jimeee (talk) 17:59, 24 March 2014 (GMT)
(edit conflict) Indeed. Try telling a South American that poems are not a significant part of their lore. Poems have inherent value; they give insight into various cultures. That being said, context is important. In-game puzzles in the form of poems are game-specific puzzle-solving clues rather than cultural works (though the two are not necessarily mutually exclusive). It's a fine line, which is why I've skipped many until more is known about the circumstances of their appearance in-game. The only one I have significant misgivings about from those Hargrimm mentioned is "Beware!". Seems like it could just be a puzzle clue, rather than a widespread cultural poem. Minor EditsThreatsEvidence 18:05, 24 March 2014 (GMT)
Good point. I lack the context these appear in, so I might just skip doing the obscure ones until the game is out. There are plenty of other notes/letters I can do. --Jimeee (talk) 18:09, 24 March 2014 (GMT)
Mistakes will happen. At least a couple of the things I've added to the lore were almost certainly inappropriate. I figure we can sift through the library and remove the duds later on, so I wouldn't worry too much about it. Minor EditsThreatsEvidence 18:27, 24 March 2014 (GMT)

The Green

The Green is the forest. I assume it refers specifically to the forest of Valenwood. It's so pervasive in Valenwood that we could possibly use Valenwood as a lin, unless there's a more formal moniker out there for Valenwood's forest, or if we could pin it down to a specific Valenwood region. I didn't want to make a decision unilaterally. Minor EditsThreatsEvidence 13:09, 1 April 2014 (GMT)

Could you explain what exactly this is, and the circumstances surrounding its appearance? Because Lore:Ehlnofey could sorely use an image... Minor EditsThreatsEvidence 17:30, 4 April 2014 (GMT)

Sadly, I'm in the same boat as you and going by second hand info, but the gist is a few Ehlnofey are imprisoned by the Reachmage, Angof the Gravesinger - and you need to help free them. I'll add the image to the page anyway. --Jimeee (talk) 17:36, 4 April 2014 (GMT)

"The Cave"

Labyrinthian. Glamorill.

Thoughts? Minor EditsThreatsEvidence 06:35, 10 April 2014 (GMT)

Its not a theory I've heard before. The problem is - if we accept that various races of Mer constructed their own Towers (so that they might ascend following Auri-El's example), then Snow Throat can only be attributed to the Snow Elves of Skyrim. Following this thread, the Snow Elves would have required access to its Stone. All this would have occurred in the Merethic Era, before Shalidor built Labyrinthian and hid Glamoril there.
The stones that we know of seem to be either linked to Lorkhan or the Aedra. One popular theory (before MK said the Stone was "The Cave") was The Eye Of Magnus. The Eye certainly existed during the Snow Elf rule of Skyrim - they had access to it and buried it. Now, people are interpreting "The Cave" as a few things:
  • Blackreach - Difficult to connect it to Snow Throat but there is a lot going on down there. Elder Scrolls, Dwemer, Aetherium etc.
  • The cave in Shor son of Shor - A cave that Shor used to enter the Underworld. He was supposedly born is a cave. Again, not much to go on.
  • Jung's Cave - A very obscure concept. Essentially comparing it to the tale in that the Elves saw their end goal: Tower Ascension, and built directly towards it, rather than following the path of Auri-El. Ironically in so doing, the Towers became inverted and dug down into Mundus and reinforced it, rather than reaching outwards and allowing the Elves to leave.
Also, regarding the links in Prophecy of the Dragonborn, parts read differently when taking The Towers into account:
  • "loses his throne" isn't the Oblivion Crisis - it's the death of Martin.
  • "White Tower falls" isn't the sack of the tower during the Great War - it's the destruction of the Amulet, which is what caused White-Gold to deactivate.
If we look at: "When the Snow Tower lies sundered, kingless, bleeding" - you have attached this metaphor to the Nordic people, but I would argue that its more a metaphor for Skyrim itself - which is an extension of Snow Throat. Alduin's Wall illustrates the "sundered" quite literally, as we see the mountain is clef in two.
At the start of the game the Tower still active, but in trouble. TES tradition holds that a tower falls every game. But as always, in order for the Tower to deactivate, the stone must be destroyed (Amulet of Kings) or the link between the Tower its Stone severed (Uriel VII's assassination). How did it happen in the game is the question. Eye of Magnus? Blackreach? Alduin? Who is to say. --Jimeee (talk) 12:02, 10 April 2014 (GMT)
But think about this:
5 of the 9 places visited for the main quest in Arena are known to have some association with the Towers. Four of them are the physical echoes, and the Halls of Colossus is where Tiber had Numidium remade. And remaining places may hypothetically have had roles which we just don't know about yet.
The mysterious ruins of Labyrinthian do go back to the Merethic Era. Shalidor just built his maze there in the First.
It's also possible the Chantry of Auri-El is involved. It's basically a "cave", since it's accessed via a cave. Shalidor is said to have stolen the Secret of Life from Akatosh (Akatosh, Auri-El, not much difference). So he may have transferred the Stone somehow from one to the other. Shalidor is said to have hidden the secret in his Labyrinth. And none of this rules out on or the other being the cave referred to in Shor, son of Shor.
There would clearly be plot twists in this story I'm not aware of, but I think the story of Green-Sap demonstrates that a Tower's story can become rather convoluted. So who's to say that the Eye of Magnus, for example, is not a part of this story somehow?
Anyway, I wanted to bring it up precisely because I, too, had not heard of it amongst the usual suspects. But I think it has a legitimate case for being on that list. Insignificant RevisionsThreatsEvidence 12:23, 10 April 2014 (GMT)
Ok, if you are referring to Bromjunaar, then yes we can say Merethic - but it was built by the Atmorans who were not involved in the creation of the Tower (in fact, it's the inverse - men were created on Snow Throat, if you believe Nord myth). Before them, we can only guess if the area held any significance to the Snow Elves.
Shalidor transferring the Stone from one to the other may be a possibility, it was done with the Numidium (Red Heart --> Mantella) - but this is where the plot twist comes in.
One thing of note in Bromjunaar is the time-traveling barrow that may be of significance. Time-bending is Akatosh's thing... his Secret of Life was stolen and hidden in Labyrinthian... was something hidden in the past? Does this relate to the Stone of Snow Throat. The theories are endless really. The Chantry of Auri-El I've heard before too, I like it because it links directly to the Snow Elves, but need fleshing out more. Personally, I don't hold strong to any of "The Cave" theories floating about on the various forums, but it sure is fun to read them. --Jimeee (talk) 13:26, 10 April 2014 (GMT)

Books with unknown Params

Hey! Just so I can keep a record of which books to track down, if you come across any books with <<1>> or something similar, could you put the names in this sandbox? Thanks!!! Jeancey (talk) 17:48, 26 April 2014 (GMT)

What do you mean by unknown. <<1>> signifies the player name. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 18:00, 26 April 2014 (GMT)
That's not really true. There are a small number of occasions where that is true, but most of the time it is an NPC or location related to the quest, and has nothing to do with the player at all. Jeancey (talk) 18:21, 26 April 2014 (GMT)
Ok then. You don't see these working solely from the uesp mod log, its only when I saw your name in a few notes and I had to look elsewhere for confirmation that I saw it being used. I did notice a book recently from Jimeee that had a <<2>>, <<3>>, and <<4>> in it though. I think there may be a few notes and books where it has included a player's name, so we probably need some check on if anyone's character name is in a book. Yeah, ok. --Jimeee (talk) 19:29, 26 April 2014 (GMT)

Sadly I'm at work and the IRC is blocked here. Is it important? --Jimeee (talk) 11:11, 26 May 2014 (GMT)
Not overly important, but I found some books in our data that aren't in any collections. I added some of them, but one in particular is very interesting, as it concerns Cyrodiil being a jungle. Plus it is from the prolific Lady Cinnabar. Subtropical Cyrodiil: A Speculation. Jeancey (talk) 11:14, 26 May 2014 (GMT)
Ha! Now that is an interesting theory and a fairly decent explanation. Although I'm still a fan of "I breathe now, in royalty, and reshape this land...", this will do. Thanks!

I have another couple hundred NPC pages to make. :P Plus, there are a ton of Pact quests and PvP quests that need pages, but yeah, almost done with basic page creation (ignoring item pages, interior location pages, and faction pages :P ) Jeancey (talk) 11:38, 2 June 2014 (GMT)
Can't the bot create the NPCs pages - I remember it did a run a while back? Tbh, I'm completely floored by the number of NPC in the game - even if many are just one-liners. Just so much content that needs added... hopefully I can help out with that when I get around to actually buying this damn game. --Jimeee (talk) 11:44, 2 June 2014 (GMT)
It can only create pages if we have seen the NPC in game. The ones that need creating are the ones no one with the addon has come across, mainly in the pact zones. Jeancey (talk) 12:09, 2 June 2014 (GMT)
Just that the PTR is available, and they apparently fixed typos throughout the game text. Might not have fixed any in the books, but you never know, and I was hoping, since you have gone through most of the books, if you had any glaring typos they might theoretically catch and fix, and I could check to see if they did. If that makes sense. Jeancey (talk) 14:25, 5 June 2014 (GMT)
I can't think of any typos that are too drastic, but most have a sic tag. If I find some, I'll let you know. (I'll be on vacation next week anyway) --Jimeee (talk) 14:31, 5 June 2014 (GMT)

Ree-Zish on Mysticism and Reachmen

Hello Jimeee!

I was doing a bit of research on Mysticism, and I noticed on the history of the page that a couple of days ago you added the sentence "Its usage was common among the mystic Reachman shamans during the Second Era", referencing in-game dialogue with Ree-Zish. I found this very interesting but unfortunately I haven't done that quest yet, so I did a bit of searching online and I found some quest dialogue on this page:

http://elderscrollsonline.info/quests/beneath-the-stone

Is this the dialogue you are referring to, or is there more? If it is, I am a bit confused because I don't see it as supporting a wide general statement such as yours. In this case, perhaps we could rephrase it to something like "A form of Mysticism was probably used by some Reachman shamans during the Second Era"? Would you agree? If you are referring to a different dialogue, however, could you please tell me more about it?

Thank you very much!

Feynn (talk) 14:53, 28 June 2014 (GMT)

Hi, I had a look at the link you posted, and there seems to be dialogue missing. The dialogue I was referring to mentions Mysticism explicitly and its connection to the Reachman shamans, so I don't believe its an unsupported statement. --Jimeee (talk) 10:03, 30 June 2014 (GMT)

Malkur Valos

Since you've been doing so much work with the interactive map, I was wondering if you could find a spot for this extract from the official ESO site? I've been considering creating a lore article for Malkur Valos, and I'd like to use the original fanon as a source before it gets edited/removed from the gamespace page. —Legoless (talk) 02:13, 17 July 2014 (GMT)

Good idea, I forgot about that bit. The text from the site should certainly have its own page, and I think a link from the interactive map page should suffice for now. Probably under "See Also", as technically its not part of the map page. I'm thinking of a slight rework of Lore:Library to accommodate these sorts of things also, but it needs fleshed out more at the moment. --Jimeee (talk) 10:25, 17 July 2014 (GMT)

Quote box

Hey, have you though about making your cool quote box into a template? That way if we need or want to update it later we can do so without editing every previous page, and it avoids having in-line CSS cluttering up the pages. -- Hargrimm(T) 13:29, 17 July 2014 (GMT)

Yeah, I'm not a fan of in-line styling and it's something I have been meaning to do eventually as I'm using the box more and more. I'll probably ask Legoless if he can update the css file with a new class at some point. --Jimeee (talk) 13:41, 17 July 2014 (GMT)

Craglorn

Hey Jimeee, if I remember rightly you're an admin on TESWiki? I just wanted to mention that the "Locations" section of the Craglorn page there is a blatant copy of our Craglorn Places list. While I realize there are only a certain, limited number of ways that one could make a list, the style and content of that list [Bold place — description] is undeniably a copy of the one here, even so far as the description text is a direct copy of ours (at the time of the edit), complete with defunct (map) links. Of course I don't expect the list to be removed, I would just request its style be changed. Thanks! --Enodoc (talk) 14:01, 6 August 2014 (GMT)

No, you're absolutely right. Sorry it was not noticed earlier. I have removed the list. --Jimeee (talk) 15:21, 6 August 2014 (GMT)

TES wiki

Not sure if you're aware of this but there is currently a consensus thread on TESwiki with the intents to remove your sysop rights. The supporters have agreed to give you one week to defend yourself. Dovahsebrom (talk) 20:19, 9 August 2014 (GMT)

Thanks Dovahsebrom - at least someone had the decency to inform me. I have replied and removed myself as admin. Side note: I always enjoyed reading your lore posts and sandboxes over there :) --Jimeee (talk) 14:53, 11 August 2014 (GMT)
Honestly I think that the consensus was a joke and your final comment sums it up completely. I can't help but feel like some of the wiki users have an agenda. And thanks, it may not be very long until some of my lore posts are on the UESP instead. Dovahsebrom (talk) 18:57, 11 August 2014 (GMT)
You're absolutely right. Also, yeah I think your knowledge of the lore would be very much appreciated here. --Jimeee (talk) 10:11, 12 August 2014 (GMT)

I'm so sorry

Jim, I'm so sorry that this happened, didn't want to loose you but I like what you said in the forum. I might even think about uploading the images here as well if it wasn't so much work to it. I hope you understand who I am.. --85.229.198.205 14:06, 11 August 2014 (GMT)

I do. Thanks. Its pretty easy once you get used to it. And at least you don't need to babysit a group of bickering children over here!--Jimeee (talk) 14:53, 11 August 2014 (GMT)

Farewell

Hey Jimeee. It's Likes-That-Tail. I know this probably isn't the best way to reach you, but I'd like to apologize for the way everything turned out. I know that you were trying to help, and I tried my best to defend you in the consensus, but Sajuuk actually got people to believe what he was saying. I don't know what the wiki will become, now that the one admin that was trying to help is gone. I may end up coming here, because frankly, I'm sick of all the drama over there as well. For now though, I will stay and try to fix the problems. You were one of the best users I knew, and you were a great admin. You will be missed greatly, by everyone. Whether they realize or admit it or not. Good luck. 98.122.50.159 14:14, 11 August 2014 (GMT)

Thanks Tail. Likewise, you seemed to one of the few chat mods who seemed to actually care about policies and the wiki itself. If we ever did decide to nominate an admin from the chat, it likely would have been you. Enda is a good guy too. It would be a shame if it was the only Elder Scrolls wiki out there, but thankfully its not! There is always somewhere else that you can apply your efforts. --Jimeee (talk) 14:53, 11 August 2014 (GMT)

Semi-Protection

This page has been semi-protected.

I've taken the liberty of semi-protecting this page. UESP is not the place to continue the drama from TESwiki. Please discuss these issues there or in private. Robin Hood  (talk) 19:36, 11 August 2014 (GMT)

Thanks, Robin. I'll remove the irrelevant stuff anyway, as I have no intention of replying. --Jimeee (talk) 10:11, 12 August 2014 (GMT)
Like I said in my PM (I think), let me know whenever you want it removed or if you need it upgraded to full protection for a short period if people manage to become autoconfirmed and start posting. Similarly, feel free to take the banner off this message if you don't like it. I just wanted to make sure people noticed it. Robin Hood  (talk) 16:30, 12 August 2014 (GMT)

Gender of Daedra

I noticed you said the daedra are genderless, but both the Golden Saints and Dark Seducers have genders, both in lore and in game. I haven't looked for a source saying that they are genderless, but there is probably one and I just have never noticed it. ~ Ad intellige (talk) 16:09, 22 December 2014 (GMT)

That's not a biological gender. Male Mazken and Aureals are the lowest ranks of Sheogorath's army. No Daedra has a set gender. —Legoless (talk) 16:12, 22 December 2014 (GMT)
Ah, I thought that only the "Princes" didn't have a set gender and the rest were given a gender and stuck with it for all eternity. ~ Ad intellige (talk) 16:15, 22 December 2014 (GMT)

Emperor's Guide

Per these edits, where are you getting the titles from? The province names weren't included in the TIL transcription, they're just the page names AFAIK. —Legoless (talk) 19:12, 24 December 2014 (GMT)

The main overview page on TIL seems to go by the province names as the main heading, as opposed to a race/faction heading. Also, the individual pages on TIL have the province names as the main title - this was my main reason to use the province name as the heading. I think Hargrimm and Alarra own the guide, so maybe we can ask them to clear this up?
As for the placement of the race/faction part - its true that on TIL this part is listed as a H1 heading rather than a book title sub-heading. If you think its more appropriate to have it as a H1, we can go back to doing it like this. --Jimeee (talk) 16:12, 25 December 2014 (GMT)
I was basing it on this page, where "Cyrodiil" is treated as a sub-heading (similar to "Redguards of the Daggerfall Covenant") despite already being the page title. —Legoless (talk) 17:18, 25 December 2014 (GMT)

The Learned One

Okay, thousand questions, but I'll boil it down to three for now: Is this guy saying he suspected she was trying to create a Dragon Break in which she could find perpetual refuge? If so, why?! I mean, what could've pushed him to even speculate on that possibility? Do you know anything of the circumstances in-game? Insignificant RevisionsThreatsEvidence 19:14, 13 March 2015 (GMT)

The Celestial Mage took refuge in the Aetherian Archive after this quest, where her shattered aspects reunite with the corrupted "Lost One" to help contain the Serpent's influence. However, the Mage remains volatile and ripped the reality of the upper levels into "terrible existence". If that book is correct, it means she plans to take herself out of Time so as not to aid the Serpent in his plans to reshape/destroy Nirn. However, that's prevented during the related dungeon crawl, where a smack on the head from 12 Undaunted saves her from the corruption. Maybe read this article if you haven't already. —Legoless (talk) 20:15, 13 March 2015 (GMT)

The Chronicles of King Kurog

Hey Jimeee, I was just wondering what collection "The Chronicles of King Kurog" is in, as I can't find those books in-game. Thanks! --Enodoc (talk) 22:23, 18 September 2015 (UTC)

Sorry for jumping in, but I suppose they are from the Wrothgar Writings collection, aren't they? --Vordur Steel-Hammer (TINV1K) 04:02, 19 September 2015 (UTC)
I don't have ESO, so I was working from a datamined file which does not list collections. A bunch of the Imperial And Wrothgar books were listed in this datamine, but I found a newer version that included some more books that were not in the original file (like The Chronicles of King Kurog). I have a full list see here under "Full readables list". You may see a few others that you don't recognize. They could be in the "Wrothgar Writings" collection as Vordur says, but then aren't the other Orc centric books too? I'm not adding collection data as I dont know. Jeancey probably does though. --Jimeee (talk) 09:36, 21 September 2015 (UTC)
Ah cool, that makes sense, Thanks! If these books (and those others) are from Wrothgar though, then they shouldn't really have lore pages yet, due to the Non-Inclusion of Pre-Release Content guideline for lorespace: Information from unreleased [...] DLC should not be included in the main text of lore articles or have separate lore entries. [...] This is to avoid adding information which is liable to change. If these books were removed from ESO before release, and we didn't notice, then we would be including non-official lore in lorespace. --Enodoc (talk) 12:08, 21 September 2015 (UTC)
Yeah, I was thinking about this. I remember Legoless mentioning stuff from the PTS was ok to add, but I'm creating these pages blind so I can't confirmeif they are in-game yet. The readable datamines have been very reliable so far though. Also note that we do have several books from Murkmire in lore, and I understand that isn't out yet? --Jimeee (talk) 12:17, 21 September 2015 (UTC)
Isn't it just okay to add a pre-release tag? I've read most of the books that Jimeee recently added and I'm pretty sure most of them are from Wrothgar, and while I do agree that pre-release books shouldn't be in lorespace just like that, it's more convenient for the editors to have them here than having to dig through the text file to read them. You can't get to these books through the search bar anyway, for some weird reason. --Vordur Steel-Hammer (TINV1K) 12:32, 21 September 2015 (UTC)
What we were doing with the Murkmire books before was adding them to the Online namespace with a pre-release tag ready to move across to Lore when the DLC comes out; see here. So we are indeed adding PTS stuff, but only into the Online gamespace, not Lorespace. --Enodoc (talk) 13:15, 21 September 2015 (UTC)
The convo with Legoless implied that rule was not as strict with PTS stuff in the Lorespace. Books are isolated pages anyway - its not the sames as new unreleased lore information being merged into existing articles, which I agree would be much riskier. In any case, if its a problem with adding content that is subject to change, adding the pre-release tag to such pages in the lorespace as Vordur mentioned would clear up any confusion. Personally, working on the books/collections/books by author and subject is a slog in itself without adding namespaces into the mix. Its less work for me to stop creating new books than start keeping track of what ones are in lore and what ones are in ON. --Jimeee (talk) 13:47, 21 September 2015 (UTC)
With the Murkmire books, I think it was agreed to keep them up in order to save work at release and to stay competitive when it comes to ESO content. As long as the books have a pre-release tag and aren't referenced (at least until public testing), there's no real harm keeping them isolated in lorespace. It saves a lot of effort compared to moving them later (*cough*). —Legoless (talk) 15:49, 21 September 2015 (UTC)
Yeah, I can add pre-release tags on the Wrothgar and Murkmire books. The most important thing is to keep a careful record of what's being created and where, in case we need to remove anything later - and I think my sandbox is doing that job. It's a small risk, but nothing that can't be handled.
Staying competitive is definitely something to consider. As it stands today, The Imperial Library is hosting many datamined books, so people will just go there if we don't have them. --Jimeee (talk) 16:09, 21 September 2015 (UTC)

About that Pale Watch banner

Well, this sucks. I ran into this same banner in Stonefalls, west of Davon's Watch, outside Starved Plain. And I might have seen it somewhere else as well. What I mean is, I suspect they are re-using some banner designs in ESO so I cannot actually prove this IS in fact their unique banner. I'm just writing it here for you, with regards to sources and credibility and all that :< Hugs, Tib (talk) 20:31, 6 December 2016 (UTC)

Damn, that's annoying. Yeah, it's likely reused assets. I'd rather not waste the image, so I think if we reword the description to something ambiguous we might get away with keeping the image on the page. Something simple like "A banner displayed in Watcher's Hold".--Jimeee (talk) 15:49, 7 December 2016 (UTC)

Linking to Books by Author

I think you are doing a great job in going through books and fixing links. I am not sure you have noticed, but during your work I see you link author names of books to Books by Author for quite a few authors and their books that are not yet on that page.

I started on adding a couple of them to the page, but as I just now looked up how many books you have edited I realise I do not have time to follow up on all of them. I have not checked all of your edits though, so there might not be all of them missing on Books by Author. Anyway, you are doing a far better job on getting things done than I would be able to follow up on if I should have taken on the task on adding them all, so it might be an idea to find someone who could? —MortenOSlash (talk) 06:49, 14 December 2016 (UTC)

Yes, I know about the additional job of adding the authors. Previously I have added a ton of authors to that page, but I do them in large batches. I work from a separate spreadsheet offline, so I know what has and has not been added. I was planning to add Wrothgar and Gold Cost authors in one large chunk soon anyway, so no need to worry.--Jimeee (talk) 09:27, 15 December 2016 (UTC)
Oh! Then I am afraid I may have caused chaos to your system by adding only some? —MortenOSlash (talk) 16:46, 15 December 2016 (UTC)
Only a little, but its ok. I'll note what you have added and remove those from my spreadsheet. Thanks! --Jimeee (talk) 17:18, 15 December 2016 (UTC)
Happy to help! I will promise to help even more by keeping my fingers from the keyboard next time. —MortenOSlash (talk) 19:31, 15 December 2016 (UTC)

Reddit

I appreciate you sitting on this subreddit, but could you point it towards us instead, and not the college fund? I don't think it's part of any plan for us to be managing a subreddit anytime soon (I have a few other things on my plate right now), but I would like for the coincidentally named site that shares our name to not be what comes up there. If you really don't want to change it, or can't, that's fine, I suppose. To be clear, I'm not asking for you to hand it over, just that it's for this UESP instead. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 07:55, 23 December 2016 (UTC)

I'm not the founder of that subreddit, so its not really anything to do with me. Its was created by a wikia guy I vaguely knew way back then. I was offered a mod spot for some reason, so I took it and its been dead since. The guy is User talk:The Rim of the Sky, so you probably want to ask him. I'm actually surprised that no one here thought about snapping up the subreddit name when it was available, given reddit's popularity.--Jimeee (talk) 09:39, 23 December 2016 (UTC)
I just had a quick look at that subreddit. Is The Rim of the Sky the same guy as CyanPancake? I'd be happy to try contacting him, or, since you have full permissions, if I understand reddit properly, you'd be able to repurpose the entire thing yourself anyway. --Enodoc (talk) 12:05, 23 December 2016 (UTC)
Yes, that's him. Best to contact him. I didn't create the sub, so it's not really my place to change it. --Jimeee (talk) 12:10, 23 December 2016 (UTC)
Okay, done. We shall see what his response is :) --Enodoc (talk) 13:00, 23 December 2016 (UTC)
Also, I just checked the log and it looks like Davey (https://www.reddit.com/user/uesp) was invited to be a mod about a year ago, but I guess he didn't respond. That's pretty much all I know really --Jimeee (talk) 14:20, 23 December 2016 (UTC)

() So he hasn't replied, but it does seem that in response to my message he's added a new post about the Utah Educational Savings Plan (my message was 10 days ago, that post was 7 days ago). Based on that, and the fact that he's otherwise active on reddit and an active editor on the TES Wikia, I am going to assume that the reddit pointing that way is an intentional slight, to block us from using that name for ourselves. --Enodoc (talk) 12:11, 3 January 2017 (UTC)

New Life Festival Interviews

Yo, Warden here. Just wondering if UESP were interested in hosting the NLF Lore Interviews Benefactor of Tamriel Foundry and myself did with Schick (alongside the Interview with Three Argonians he did with Lady Nerevar), and if you guys do would you or someone else help me out with it? Just checking.IceFireWarden (talk) 05:13, 1 January 2017 (UTC)

Hi. Yeah, I read them a while back and thought about that too. There have been RP interviews posted in the past with Schick (http://en.uesp.net/wiki/General:Loremaster%27s_Episode_of_ESO-RP_ZOS_Interview), so they probably can be hosted in that format. I'd suggest starting it in a sandbox first and you can get help with the layout/format etc. P.S. How did you get your very own Loremaster's Archive Q&A! lol.--Jimeee (talk) 11:17, 1 January 2017 (UTC)
Okay, gotcha. Lol, I kind of just asked for it and Benefactor was a big help in making it happen. Hopefully I can do another one sometime in the future.IceFireWarden (talk) 17:25, 1 January 2017 (UTC)

Skinchanger Motif

Hi Jimeee, are you aware that Online:Crafting Motifs 31: Skinchanger is a duplicate page? The text already exists at Online:Crafting Motif 31: Skinchanger Style. - KINMUNETALK﴿ 15:43, 6 January 2017 (UTC)

Ah, I didn't see that. So the book in-game is called "Skinchanger Style" and not just "Skinchanger"? I can't check right now, but that's not consistent with the others. --Jimeee (talk) 15:49, 6 January 2017 (UTC)
I'm not actually sure. That was the name during the PTS, but it probably is just "Skinchanger" now. It's inconvenient because the PTS name is the only time the name of the compilation is given, so I'm not really sure because it came in fragments on live. - KINMUNETALK﴿ 15:55, 6 January 2017 (UTC)
Current PTS has cleared it up. I'm going to prod the old name. - KINMUNETALK﴿ 14:18, 7 January 2017 (UTC)

Fanfiction

Hey Jimeee! Just wanted to say that I love your lorebooks. They really feel as if they were taken from the games! And I really like the Ra Gada invasion map, too. --Vordur Steel-Hammer (TINV1K) 17:38, 12 July 2017 (UTC)

Hey Vordur thanks, I'm glad you like them! I have a few other ideas and headcanon I want to write, but just don't have time to write them these days. Your lorebooks are awesome btw - it was actually you who gave me the idea to put them on my userpage, as you did with yours. I also post mine on /r/teslore - there is sometimes good fanfiction/apocrypha there too.--Jimeee (talk) 08:54, 13 July 2017 (UTC)

Sources for Hammerfell map

Hey Jimeee,

I just want to say that I really like the map you did for Hammerfell, showing where exactly the different groups went to in Hammerfell. I think it's really cool. What I wanted to know is what are the sources you used. Specifically, the stuff about Yaghoub's wave going along the northern coast and the Anka-Ra's expedition into Craglorn. Thanks and have a good day. --Vincentius1 (talk) 21:41, 19 November 2017 (UTC)

Hi, thanks. Parts of the map/history is my own headcanon, but according to the lore we know that Yaghoub went north and rounded Cape Shira and eventually found Sentinel in Sentinel, the Jewel of Alik'r. The Anka-Ra we know from ESO and are detailed in Warlords of the Ra Gada. --Jimeee (talk) 09:59, 20 November 2017 (UTC)
Thanks, I appreciate the help. --Vincentius1 (talk) 13:07, 20 November 2017 (UTC)

More Sapiarchs?!

Hey Jimeee, I've added one more Sapiarch field of study to the College of Sapiarchs page, but I actually stumbled upon a few more Sapiarchs now. Since I don't know how strictly you document these, I'll just leave it up to you! Well, there's the Alchemical Science, from Emderil's dialogue (the alchemist in Alinor's Plaza of the Hand), which I think is somewhat vague. Next, the Sapiarch Motif is written by Artuudawen Thousand-Shoes, Sapiarch of Apparel Analysis :P In the book Enigma of the Runestones, we learn of Nolin the Many-Hued, Sapiarch of Enchantment. In the book Sages of the Crystal Tower, Selenology and Divine Orthodoxy are listed among others as some of the leading fields of study. Tib (talk) 21:57, 29 July 2018 (UTC)

ESO Icons

Just and FYI, we recently started adding a bit more information to the ESO icons when they're uploaded hopefully to keep better track of them when they get updated. If you take a look at any of the recent uploads for an example: here or here for example. All of the redguard ones on the wiki are out of date and hard to match. Kiz(email - talk) 12:50, 1 November 2019 (GMT)

Oh I know. I'm just notoriously lazy and can only bring myself to add the original filename - anyway, the bot should be able to add the other stuff. --Jimeee (talk) 12:56, 1 November 2019 (GMT)
Yeah, we tried, we were left with a folder with just over a 1000 that it couldn't match. Me and Jeancey are spending some time running through them. This is what's left. Kiz(email - talk) 12:58, 1 November 2019 (GMT)
I wouldn't worry too much about it. While people are free to work on whatever they like, I imagine obscure icon metadata is pretty low on the priority list in the greater scheme of things. --Jimeee (talk) 14:13, 1 November 2019 (GMT)

() Well, the reason those other icons couldn't be matched is, that not all reside in the icons subdirectory. I guess a more usful approach would be specifying the whole path (as it would be addressed from an addon) and link it for easy checking. I tried that here, ideally I think this would get a template used like {{ESOiconLoc|charactercreate/charactercreate_necromancericon_up}} or {{ESOiconLoc|icons/gear_redguard_heavy_hands_c}}. --Alfwyn (talk) 17:12, 20 February 2020 (GMT)

Crown Link

Hi Jimeee, per this revert—the purpose of {{Crown Link}} is to reduce the need to provide long anchored links like that. However, I do agree that it might be better for it to link to individual subpages rather than ON:Crown Store/all. This would require a template change and I'm not sure of the best way to technically go about it, but it's something worth considering I think. —Legoless (talk) 17:07, 5 January 2021 (UTC)

The best way to go about it at this point I think is to overhaul the Crown Store pages from scratch - I'm open to ideas! --Enodoc (talk) 23:27, 7 January 2021 (UTC)

Echatere

Now I agree that it shouldn't have been mentioned in the main lore section, I however do see the need of having it put in the notes section. As for the roleplay the source you provided has him roleplaying in character, because of this it can't be discredited. This source is also from the former lore master and talks a bit about them from a not in character prospective. Which is the vital thing really as it gives us a good account of the process. https://en.uesp.net/wiki/General:ESO_Live_Lawrence_Schick_Wrothgar_Interview Lawrence: Yeah! And then I thought we’d want some… you know, this is the northern reaches and what do we know about the arctic and antarctic? Cute birds. That’s right. So to go along with things like puffins and penguins and things like that we came up with the Chub Loon, waddling around, you know, eating fish and being adorable. So, but not all the critters originate from that sort of holistic overview. Sometimes they come from serendipity so that is why I am going to tell you about the Echalette. That’s the little Echatere. You know the echatere are the big, weird livestock that live in Wrothgar and...

He also talked about how they looked into the lore for the stuff in that region as well. So even if the roleplay thing where he was in character where his character may be a skeptic, says one thing. That does not mean they didn't in fact base the creature of the one mentioned in the lore. As its design is clearly based off the idea of a insect mammal thing.

I've tried looking for the npc source, but there is one in Orsinium I think I recall that called them insect like or was afraid of them because of their legs, not sure trying to find that actually. But either way their legs are not a mammalian trait, that is clear by their leg designs that is a trait that is unique to insects. They are mammalian but they have bug legs. https://en.uesp.net/wiki/General:The_Tenpenny_Winter...Again Makes direct reference to the beasts listed in the book, they are directly mentioned to be herded by Orcs.

The reason why the note should be there is because, of their design matches most of the traits described for the Herdbeasts with the exception of the centipede thing. The role they serve for Orcs matches the lore found within that book for the most part, and given the context of the lore and the traits that the creature matches and the design clearly being based off it, It should be noted for sure on the lore page.TheVampKnight (talk) 13:31, 24 March 2021 (UTC)

Bloodline WIP

Hi, I've removed the WIP tag from Skyrim:Bloodline since it was added in 2014. If you intend to continue with the overhaul, feel free to re-add it. —Legoless (talk) 12:31, 19 January 2022 (UTC)

Ah memories... I was trying to beat your Lore:Aetherial Fragments record :p I should probably at least finish what was about 90% done. Jimeee (talk)

Antiquities

Hi Jimeee,

I wanted to work out Antiquity Templates with you as we have several iterations for a few different aspects of them. I really like your templates / tables as they reflect what I would like to see more of on the wiki - format, use of images and icons, etc.
I would like to make less work for us when maintaining Antiquities, such as with the use of #listsaved as an example. Especially for the Furnishings, and sets. There is so much information to add initially, that having to maintain the same on another page can be overwhelming. We are already behind again. But if I can get the initial Furnishing pages done before the releases, then making use of a template like Template:Furnishing General Entry (but made for Antiquities) would be extremely helpful.
What the problem is - We are having to pull information from several different places ATM.
    • Template:ESO Antiquity
    • Template:ESO Antiquity Furnishing
    • Template:Online Furnishing Antiquity
      • Template:Online Furnishing Antiquity/Start
      • Template:Online Furnishing Antiquity/Row
      • Template:Online Furnishing Antiquity/End
So, what do you think? Please contact me in Discord. We can chat :)
Thank you so much!Erorah (talk) 15:54, 14 October 2022 (UTC)
Hi, Sure lets talk more about this. My position has always been focusing on what works best for out readers and in the past many of the restrictions have been around template flexibility. Ideal world was all these overview or list pages pulling info from 1 source - but at the same time being flexible in their layout and not condensing everything into a big table. I've never agreed with making the user experience worse for our readers if it meant editors lives are easier.
Having said that I absolutely get understand wanting it to be less work for when maintaining Antiquities. I'm usually happy to take on the task of keeping Antiquity Furnishing up-to-date with every new DLC, but for High Isle i've been busy.
I'll try to catch you on discord at some point though. Thanks!--Jimeee (talk) 14:51, 17 October 2022 (UTC)

Thanks. The funny thing is I noticed this talkpage when I was about halfway through writing the article. The issue has come up a few times before so its finally fixed now. --Jimeee (talk) 10:07, 25 June 2023 (UTC)

LO-misc images

Hey Jimeee. I see your sandbox has a number of images with LO-misc in the title, e.g. File:LO-misc-Ayleid Pedestal.png. These are not very useful image names, as the file page gives no indication of what games those images have come from. Per our image naming standards, please ensure the game abbreviation is used for these images even if they are only planned to be used in lorespace. —Legoless (talk) 11:30, 20 September 2023 (UTC)

I can see your point, the LO prefix just seemed more appropriate given they won't be used outside the lorespace. The guideline could be more explicit that images that are completely outside of the games (like the MK sketches) are the only ones allowed to be prefixed with "LO" (if that was the intent of the LO prefix in the first place).--Jimeee (talk) 11:44, 20 September 2023 (UTC)
Honestly I'm not sure what the original intent was for the LO prefix outside of Category:Lore-Book Images. —Legoless (talk) 12:37, 20 September 2023 (UTC)
