Decide who rules the night in this DLC-sized story Creation! Lead the Quarra or Cronvangr clans to victory as a vampire or help the Vigilants of Stendarr purge Skyrim of both!—Official Summary

Official DescriptionEdit

Decide the future of Skyrim’s vampires in this DLC-sized story Creation! Lead the Quarra or Cronvangr clans to victory over their rivals as a vampire, or stay mortal and help the Vigilants of Stendarr purge Skyrim of both clans!

For millennia, the vampire clans of the Old Holds have been led by the venerable Cronvangr Clan. But as the Fourth Era enters its third century, the Cronvangr find themselves challenged by the Quarra Clan of Morrowind, who seek to establish themselves as the new power in Skyrim. Now, the conflict between the two clans has spread to engulf all of Skyrim, and it will come down to a single newcomer to decide the fate of Skyrim’s vampires: You. Will you join the Cronvangr? The Quarra? Or will you help the Vigilants of Stendarr see both clans destroyed?

This DLC-sized Creation adds a fully-voiced storyline with over 3000 lines of dialogue, 10 new dungeons, dozens of new quests, new armor and jewelry, new weapons, and exciting new magical effects in the form of never-before-seen spells, perks, and item enchantments that will change how you play all of Skyrim!

Pick your allegiance and guide your chosen faction to victory! The main quest can be started by sleeping after becoming a vampire (all routes) or speaking to Bazur gro-Shagk at Stendarr’s Beacon once the Hall of the Vigilant is destroyed (Vigilant route only).

The following provides more detailed information on the content within this Creation and includes spoilers.

New Locations:

  • Cronvangr Hall: a large Nord ruin located within Cronvangr Cave. Serves as the headquarters of the Cronvangr Clan.
  • Quarra Lair: a Dwemer ruin within Pinemoon Cave that has been claimed by the Quarra Clan as their new headquarters.
  • Stendarr’s Watch: the headquarters of Ciirta’s Vigilants, located within Stendarr’s Beacon.
  • Iceblood Barrow: a frozen crypt below Broken Fang Cave, unlocked as part of the main quest of A Tale of Blood and Snow.
  • Lower Solitude Catacombs: an ancient network of tombs dating back to the Second Era, located within the Solitude Hall of the Dead. Unlocked as part of the main quest of A Tale of Blood and Snow.
  • Stone Garden Overlook: a Dwemer ruin deep within Pinemoon Cave, accessed via the Quarra Lair. Unlocked through quest progression.
  • Cronvangr Temple: the deepest parts of Cronvangr Hall are unknown even to the members of the Clan. What could have stirred the ancient spiders from their slumber? Unlocked through quest progression.
  • Varstaad Caves: a vampire lair located on Solstheim, near Fahlbtharz.
  • Bjorn: a frozen cave located on Solstheim near the Temple of Miraak, opening into the depths of the Fryse Pit.
  • Reachwind Depths: a sprawling Dwemer ruin once inhabited by the Lothid Clan of vampires. Located near Reachwind Eyrie and provides access to Blackreach without requiring completion of Discerning the Transmundane.
  • Midnight Barrow: a sprawling barrow that has long been claimed by Blackreach, now overrun with Falmer and their allies. Within the depths of Midnight Barrow is the Undergrove, a strangely lush realm in the deepest parts of Blackreach.
  • Lightless Hollow: in the darkest corners of Blackreach, a rogue mage has performed forbidden rituals, warping reality and allowing the Void to seep in. What secrets await within?
  • Stormcaller Cave: a vast cavern between Stonehills and Dawnstar that once served as the headquarters for a Vaermina cult. The cult has long since been driven out, but something new has claimed the ancient temple for itself…

How to Play
To begin the normal route, simply sleep after becoming a vampire (note, being infected with Sanguinare Vampiris is insufficient; you must be a full vampire). As long as you do not have a pending quest requiring sleep (such as With Friends Like These…, The Ghost of Old Hroldan, or Fortunate Son) and are not in an area where exiting would cause problems (Cidhna Mine, Sovngarde, Apocrypha, Thalmor Embassy, Skuldafn), you will be teleported to a dreamworld and presented with an escape-room-style puzzle.

Upon completing three dreams, you will awaken outside Cronvangr Cave and be introduced to the Cronvangr and Quarra factions. Following this scene, you can speak to Vlkoslak at Cronvangr Cave to join the Cronvangr, speak to Jelkar at Pinemoon Cave to join the Quarra, or cure yourself of vampirism and speak to Bazur gro-Shagk at Stendarr’s Beacon to join the Vigilants.

If you are not currently a vampire, a new NPC named Traelius Jeanard has been added to the swamp west of Morthal, who will give you a one-time guaranteed infection upon interacting.

Alternate start method (Vigilant route ONLY): Once the Hall of the Vigilant has been destroyed, Bazur gro-Shagk will send you to find a dead Vigilant in Cronvangr Broodlair. Read the letter they carry, then speak to Bazur gro-Shagk to join the Vigilants (note, you can find the body without speaking to Bazur first; that step is optional).

Note that only one faction may be joined per playthrough.

Each faction offers a mix of main, special, favor, and repeatable Radiant quests. At certain points in the main quest, you will be asked to complete a certain number of Radiant quests to progress (three to unlock The Bloodfire Amulet, another three to unlock A Spy in Solitude, and another five to unlock Blood and Snow.)

Completing Radiant quests will also unlock special quests, which are unlocked at five, ten, fifteen, and twenty Radiant quests (note, the third and fourth special quests also require completing the second main quest, A Spy in Solitude). Completing special quests will unlock additional favor quests, and completing all four special quests along with the main quest will unlock a special epilogue with your faction leader.

Note: If SkyUI is installed, the required Radiant quests can be adjusted via the MCM menu.

Creations editing Broken Fang Cave, Cronvangr Cave, or Pinemoon Cave may conflict.

All voicework is the property of the original voice actor and may not be used for AI training or AI voice generation.

  • A Tale of Blood and Snow is based on a series of cut vampire quests from the base game, which would have also seen the player dealing with the Cronvangr, Quarra and Bloodfire Amulet.
