While the other species of fish tend to swim near the surface of bodies of water, salmon may often be seen either near the surface or in the depths. Its pinkish-orange flesh is a popular food source, and can be eaten raw or salted and cooked.

They can reach at least fifteen feet long and have long whip-like tails, dual swimming fins on the underside, teeth that "would shame a shark", and a tough hide. They were usually non-aggressive to Skraws but would attack if the sump considered someone an intruder.

Slaughterfish are large, aggressive fish with razor-sharp teeth found in the waters of nearly all of Nirn and even in other realms such as Coldharbour.
They are often found in large groups that will swarm unwary prey quickly and lethally, some specimens have been known to grow at least twice as large than average due to plentiful meals. Slaughterfish tend to prefer foul waters but can thrive in a variety of aquatic environments across Tamriel, such as deep inland lakes and underground rivers. They have even been sighted in the heavily polluted, oily waters of the Clockwork City, where most other fish species had been rendered near-extinct.

The Spadetail is a common type of fish that can be found in still lakes with deep holes or overgrowth that let them stay out of the sun. Guts from small frogs, guar and chickens as well as tiny ocean minnows are the best bait for attracting spadetails.
- The Cyrodilic Spadetail can be found in ponds, lakes, and other bodies of water. Despite its name, its habitat is not limited to Cyrodiil.
