Draoife Dell circa 2E 582

Draoife Dell is a landmark located in the central region of Galen island, situated north of Vastyr and south of Telling Stone.[1] It serves as the gathering place for the Draoife, a council of nine Archdruids and Elders.[2] The council is made up of three archdruids from each of the three druid circles and convenes to govern and make decisions for the entire druid community. The council meetings at Draoife Dell are responsible for resolving disputes, declaring the start and end of seasons, and issuing proclamations that apply to all circles. As the overseer and guide of the druid community, the council's decisions are widely respected across all the circles.[1][3]

Draoife Dell is nestled in a compact circular valley. It is surrounded by towering rock formations on all sides. At least two subterranean tunnels link this landmark to the other regions of the Galen island. Druidic structures can also be found within those caverns. The circular valley is the most prominent feature of this landmark. The glade at the center of the valley is adorned with a plethora of druidic stone carvings, storystones, and megalithic formations.[1]

Little is known of the past of Draoife Dell. It was founded at some point after the arrival of the Druids of Galen to the Systres Archipelago around 1E 330.[4]

During the 582, following the Dreadsails' attack on the Eldertide Circle's settlement of Tuinh, a council of Draoife was convened in Draoife Dell. During this gathering, the representatives of the Firesong Circle led by Archdruid Orlaith, who had received aid from the Maormer pirates of the Dreadsails led by Sealord Nalos, carried out a massacre of the druids belonging to the Stonelore and Eldertide Circles. Despite the intervention of associates from House Mornard, only two Archdruids, namely Rahval of Stonelore and Ellic of Eldertide, managed to survive the assault. Tragically, four other Archdruids perished on that fateful day.[3][5] The intention of Archdruid Orlaith was to crown the new Druid King based on a literal interpretation of the prophecy of Kasorayn, disregarding the wishes of the Druids from other circles.[6]

Eventually the threat of the Firesong Circle ended, but the future fate of the Draoife Dell is unclear.[7][8]

The Systres became a part of Hammerfell's territory by 3E 427.[9] At some point before the Fifth Century of the Third Era the Druids once again had a presence on the mainland Tamriel.[10][UOL 1] It is unknown how those events affected the Druids of the Systres and the landmark of Draoife Dell.
