Detailed WalkthroughEdit
Speak to Urgarlag Chief-bane to get the details of this quest.
- What's the pledge today?
- "Imperial City Prison! The minions of Molag Bal made it their own. Nothing they like more than prisoners to torture. That dungeon's like a nightmare straight out of Oblivion now.
I want to see if Daedra can take as good as they give. Interested?" - And if I can handle more than that?
- "How's this for insult to injury? The Lord Warden obsessively keeps record of every indignity he's inflicted.
Wipe the record clean before you turn the tables on him." - I pledge to seek out the Imperial City Prison and return Undaunted.
Once you have accepted the quest, you can enter the Imperial City Prison dungeon either by accessing the dungeon through the Dungeon Finder, or heading to Imperial City and entering the dungeon there with a group. You have the choice of entering the normal dungeon or the veteran version, this choice will affect if you can achieve the optional step and your rewards.
When inside the dungeon, you will need to progress through the dungeon, slaying the following bosses, Ibomez the Flesh Sculptor, the Flesh Abomination and Lord Warden Dusk. With the last boss, if you are in the veteran dungeon, you have the option of burning the Warden's Tome to put the boss in hard mode.
- <There is an introduction to the warden's tome.>
"Actions beget consequences. The inmates shall pay for their crimes, endlessly. Here I record their pain so the final moments serve as example to all others who would travel the fruitless path.> - <Burn the Warden's Tome>
Once you have completed the task, you can return to Urgarlag Chief-bane at any of the Undaunted Enclaves, and speak with her to complete the quest:
- "You don't look dead enough for a Daedric plaything. I suppose you bested the Imperial Prison?"
- The Lord Warden has been defeated.
- "Now that's a thing to brag about. Did he start bawling like a whelp once he learned we mortals know a thing or two about pain?"
- Something like that. I take it that's worth something? / What is my reward for defeating Lord Warden Dusk?
Condition | Dialogue |
---|---|
Normal mode completed | "The Daedra never seem to stay down for long, but a reminder that we can hurt them is worth something. Take your key and your cut. By tomorrow they may be back to get hurt again!" |
Veteran / Hard Mode completed | "You burned the Warden's Tome and made a prisoner of him. Can't think of a more fitting end for that scum. Well done! Take your prize! We'll see if you can outdo this feat tomorrow." |
NotesEdit
- Prior to Update 41, completing this quest with Normal or Veteran mode would award 1 Undaunted Key, and 2 Keys on Veteran Hard Mode.

- Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
- Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in any order. Some stages may therefore repeat objectives seen in other stages.
