Beneath the StoneEdit

If you haven't started the quest yet and you approach him while he's briefing his troops at Shor's Stone. He will say:

"Careful, traveler. Shor's Stone is not safe today."

You must speak with him to find out what's going on at Shor's Stone.

"Well, what is it? I'm organizing our defenses here. If you need supplies, talk to Garri in the Tapped Vein."

The following two lines depend on how you started the quest:

The Skald King sent me. I'm here to help.
"The King's Arrow! Well met, my friend. The town's under constant threat and a horde of Reachmen took over the mine and sealed themselves inside."
Sage Tirora sent me. I'm here to help.
"She was wise to do so. This is a fine chance to prove yourself worthy of the Companions! A horde of Reachmen besieged the town, then took over the mine and sealed themselves inside."
  • Vigrod Wraithbane
How can I help?
"That's the attitude! The town's under constant threat and a horde of Reachmen took over the mine and sealed themselves inside."

Regardless, you can ask:

How do we get them out?
"Ree-Zish is trying to break into the mine. We've got people trapped in there. And we need to understand what in Oblivion the Reach are up to!"
I'll see if I can help Ree-Zish.

You can then ask him more questions.

"Ree-Zish is a clever little lizard. If anyone can find a way past their magics, she can."
Can I ask you a few questions, Vigrod?
"I'll answer what I can. Be brief, though. There's still much to do."
You're not a member of the Pact military, are you?
"No. I'm proud to ride with the Companions, Ysgramor's heirs! Fallowstone Hall is our lair, just north of town. Always happy to wield our blades in service of the Pact."
Who are the Companions?
"Shor's bones! You've never heard of the Five Hundred? The Companions are the brave warriors that rode with legendary Ysgramor in the battles to conquer Skyrim. We are their descendants, by blood and by bond."
Who are the Reachmen again?
"Tribal clans from far to the west, up against the border with High Rock. Area's called the Reach, so Reachmen. They're nasty, been giving the Jarls trouble for generations. I've no idea what they're doing so far from their clan holdings."
What clan attacks Shor's Stone?
"Boneshaper. Worst kind of shaman, one step up from necromancer. They use corpses in their foul ceremonies."
Have you heard of what I did in Eastmarch?/You've heard of what I did in Eastmarch?

If you have completed the Eastmarch questline:

"Let's see. Saved the High King from poison, fought a horde of Orcs to a standstill. Stood with the Pact at a high moot and ensured the alliance didn't shatter. Nah, haven't heard of you at all."

If you started the quest with Ree-Zish, he'll just wish you luck:

"One of the scouts said you're heading in after them? Good luck."

After you collected the corrupted magicka:

"We're holding our own out here, just barely. Get into that mine as fast you can."

After you brought down the barrier blocking the mine entrance:

"Get in there! We need to know what the Reach are up to. Be careful though. Don't want to have to explain to Jorunn why you're dead."

UnearthedEdit

If you started the quest and haven't spoken to Foreman Gandis:

"That tomb down there. I don't…don't waste time talking to me. Get down there and find out what they're up to."

When exiting the mine he can be overheard speaking with Centurion Gjakil.

Vigrod Wraithbane: "I know. But I must retake Fallowstone. I fear the worst. Let's go. We can talk on the way."

He will stress that Sinmur is back to life and needs to stopped once more:

"Our worst nightmare has come to life. Sinmur has returned. The ancient enemy of the Companions must be faced once more."
I saw him return to life but couldn't stop it. What now?
"A thousand curses on the Reachmen! Sinmur must be stopped, somehow."

Storming the HallEdit

He will urge you to head to Fallowstone Hall to help the Companions to fend off the Reachmen assault:

"It falls to us. We must rally the Companions and face Sinmur together. Are you with me?"
Count me in. What's the plan?
"We've done what we can for Shor's Stone. The villagers can deal with the aftermath. We have other concerns.
While we were here, the Reachmen attacked Fallowstone Hall!"
Fallowstone Hall?
"The Companions' Hall, our ancient headquarters. It perches on the mountainside above Shor's Stone.
We must see if any are left to save. And then we take the Hall back. Can I count on you?"
Aye, Vigrod. I'm with you.
"Together we'll storm Fallowstone Hall and teach those bastards a lesson they'll never forget!"
I'm ready.

If you approach him at the outskirts of Fallowstone Hall without starting the quest, he will say:

"Reach skeevers in my home…Bastards!"

If you choose to start the quest at Fallowstone Hall:

"Fallowstone Hall has seen some hard times, but non worse than these days."
The Reachmen are at Fallowstone Hall?
"Aye, trolls take them. I blame myself. I took our finest warriors with me to Shor's Stone. The recruits left behind didn't have a chance.
We must retake the Hall!"
Where do we start?
"Some survivors still hold out near the shrines. You get out there and rally them into the Hall.
I'm going straight up the middle. We'll hold the door…and wait for you to make our move."
I'm on it.

If you started the quest in Shor's Stone, he will then ask if you want to follow him or meet him at the Hall:

"Fallowstone Hall must be retaken! There are relics hidden beneath the Hall, including a mighty weapon that was used to kill Sinmur long ago.
Do you want to follow me or meet me there?"
Lead on.

or

I'll meet you there.
Vigrod Wraithbane:"I'll see you at Fallowstone Hall"

If you choose to follow Vigrod, he will order Narir and Lodunn to move out to Fallowstone Hall:

Vigrod Wraithbane:"Get moving, lads. I'll be right behind you."
Narir:"Yes sir!"
Lodunn:"Let's go, brother!"

During the trek, Centurion Gjakil will part ways with Vigrod to check up on Boulderfall outpost.

Centurion Gjakil:"I'm headed for Boulderfall outpost. Sinmur stomped in that direction."
Vigrod Wraithbane:"Kyne guard you, my friend. Good luck. I'll see you again soon."

Shortly after, Tovisa will unstealth herself to deliver news that Northwind Mine has fell to the Reachmen's hands:

Vigrod Wraithbane:"Tovisa! What news?"
Tovisa:"The Reachmen take their prisoners to Northwind Mine. That settlement has been lost to the tribes."
Vigrod Wraithbane:"As always, you're my eyes and ears. Head back there. I'll send you relief as soon as we've secured the Hall."
Tovisa:"The Three watch your steps."

If you choose to stay behind far from him, he will call to you to follow:

Vigrod Wraithbane:"Come now! We've no time to waste."

When you reach the outskirts while following him:

Vigrod Wraithbane:"Shor keep them. These warriors never stood a chance."

If you choose to meet him later at the outskirts of the hall, he will be standing alongside Lodunn, Narir and other Companions:

"Are you ready for this?"

Otherwise if you followed him to the outskirts:

"There's no time!"
Things look bad, Vigrod.
"It's my fault. I brought our best blades to Shor's. The recruits I left behind never had a chance against the savagery of the Reachmen."
Where do we start?
"I'm told survivors retreated to our shrines. Find them and rally them to the Hall.
I'm going to hold the main doors. I'll wait for you there."
I'm on it
"We're holding them here. Rally the others. Quickly!"
Who leads the Reachmen against us?
"The Shor-cursed son of a skeever named Stral Blackthroat. He leads the Rageclaw clan and is said to now lead all the tribes assaulting the Rift."

He can be persuaded to help you to expedite the process:

[Persuade] This will go faster if we both rally the survivors.
"Sounds good. I've heard Skald Svari holds out at one of the shrines. You rally to the Hall and I'll get the others."
I'm ready.

Once you agree on rallying the survivors, he will run out:

Vigrod Wraithbane:"Ysgramor!"

After you rallied the remaining companions, you'll find him in front of the hall. He will reveal that Sage Tirora has died and that the Reachmen are trying to break into the vault of the hall to retrieve sacred relics. He advises that spirit of the deceased sage might be of assistance if you burn the ashes at the altars:

"Sage Tirora is dead, tortured. I'll gut every Reachman I find, I swear it!"
I rallied who I could. Sorry about the Sage, Vigrod.
"I lead. I bear the blame. Tears and mead are for another day. Wish she was here, though. We need her right now."
Need her? For what?
"The Reachmen are in the vault beneath the Hall. Our most treasured artifacts are down there. Reach shamans have placed one of those damned spellshields on the door.
Tirora would be able to … wait."
What?
"I just realized. Sage Tirora still may be able to help us. This pouch of ashes. We use it to commune with the ancient spirits of the Hall.
She's newly dead. And if I know Tirora, angry."
Just tell me what to do.
"At each of the memorials near the Hall is a small brazier. Burn the ashes at each altar, and see if you can locate Tirora's spirit.
I'll rally the men here and inside the Hall."
I'll find her. Don't worry.

After agreeing to commune with the spirit, both him, Skald Svari and Tillaki will head inside the hall.

After speaking with Tirora's spirit, meet him up with him in the hall and he'll say:

Vigrod Wraithbane: "We have them on the run! Frostfang, their chieftain, is trapped in the basement. It's through the trapdoor. Follow me!"

After slaying Frostfang inside the undercroft, he'll go inside the vault:

Vigrod Wraithbane: "We must get into the Vault. I hope I'm wrong about why the Reachmen are here."

Inside the vault entry, the barrier will be dispelled by Sage Tirora and the skalds.

"Sage Tirora answered your call, Shor bless her."
What happens next? / So what do we do now?
"I must ensure the Hall is cleared. I need you to go into the vault. Kill any Reachmen you find and check on the relics we guard there."
Is there anything in particular I should look for?
"Aye. We've the honor to safeguard the legendary axe, Wuuthrad. It rests in the vault, secure in the arms of Ysgramor's statue. Please ensure that it's safe."
I'll see you soon, Vigrod.
"So many proud warriors slain. We'll repay every drop of blood threefold."
Wuuthrad? Ysgramor? / You mentioned Wuuthrad? Ysgramor?
"Ha ha! For the love of Kyne. You don't know who Ysgramor is? Or the tale of Wuuthrad?"
Indulge me. Who's Ysgramor? / And who's Ysgramor?
"He was the greatest of all Nord heroes, the harbinger of us all! He brought humans to Tamriel, leading a fleet from Atmora. They had some trouble with the Elves that then ruled the Rift, but Ysgramor and his Companions dealt with them! Ha!"
What happened?
"Ysgramor led the Companions on a campaign of vengeance against the elves. Wielding his axe Wuuthrad, the harbinger of us all led his warriors in a rampage across Skyrim. The cowardly Elves fled before the Nords' wrath and Skyrim was ours."
The tale of Wuuthrad? / What's the tale of Wuuthrad?
"From Ysgramor's ebony tears as the Elves burned Saarthal, the great weaponsmith Yngol forged the axe Wuuthrad. Ysgramor wielded Wuuthrad ever after, wiping the traitorous Elves from the Rift.
Wuuthrad is held to be the greatest of all Nord weapons."
Is that true?
"Of course it's true! It's a Nord legend, isn't it?"

Returning to him after exploring the vault, he will oversee the mourning of his fallen companions in the courtyard:

"What did you find in the vault?"
The Reachmen have stolen Wuuthrad!
"It's as I feared, then. Wuuthrad is the only weapon we know that can send Sinmur back to Oblivion. Trolls take every one of them!"

If you exit the conversation before turning in the quest, he will say:

"Fallowstone Hall has seen some hard times, but non worse than these days."
I've secured the Hall. I'm afraid the axe Wuuthrad is missing. (Leads to quest completion dialogue)

The Rise of Sage SvariEdit

Continuing your conversation from the previous quest, he speaks with you about Skald Svari. She needs to be prepared to be the next sage of Fallowstone Hall:

"One thing always leads to another, and change can often be difficult to accept. However, we must continue. It's the only way."
How can I help?
"Sage Tirora has passed to Sovngarde and Fallowstone needs a new sage. Skald Svari has asked my permission to try for the position and I have given it."
What does she need to do?
"The sage-to-be and a companion must pray at Fallowstone's shrines. If she is acceptable to our ancestors, visions of the Five Hundred in their prime will appear. Will you accompany her?"
Sure. I'll see if she's ready.

Vigrod will appoint her as the Sage of Fallowstone Hall.

Vigrod Wraithbane: "Companions! Rise and honor Skald Svari as she ascends to the post of Sage."
Vigrod Wraithbane: "Skald Svari, we are here to honor your courage, wisdom, and strength. You have proven yourself worthy to be our next Sage."
Vigrod Wraithbane: "Do you swear to uphold the tenets of the Companions and to defend Fallowstone Hall with your life?"
Skald Svari: "I do."
Vigrod Wraithbane: "Then arise as Svari, Sage of the Companions of Fallowstone Hall!"

Speaking with him after Svari is appointed as sage:

"I see you've accepted Svari's invitation. She will be a worthy successor to Tirora. One more step in rebuilding what was destroyed."

Shattered HopesEdit

Vigrod is here with Hakra, Valdur and King Jorunn. If you started the quest through the Pact scouts and before you speak to Jorunn:

"The High King has been asking about you. About time, my friend."'

You can speak to him before speaking to Valdur to ask about Thallik holding Wuuthrad in his possession:

"Ysgramor really does watch over you. Hah! Welcome to the fight."
Jorunn said that Thallik has Wuuthrad?
"Aye. Ysgramor's axe is a powerful relic, imbued with the core of his strength. In the hands of a powerful mage like Thallik, Shor only knows what he can do."
How are they using it?
"This is it, my friend. The Worms are tired of waiting. If we don't stop them, the Planemeld occurs, thanks to the combination of Thallik's power, the might of Wuuthrad, and the essence of Sinmur"

Speaking to him after speaking to Valdur:

"These Worms should never have crawled up from below."

Speaking with him if you persuaded Valdur to allow a Legendary Companion to fight by your side:

"Into the fray with one of the Five Hundred at your side. Make us proud."

Securing the PassEdit

He will be at the Pact camp at Trolhetta. He will be in a tent next to Jorunn and other Pact leaders. If you speak to him before speaking to Jorunn, he'll say:

"The Ebonheart Pact armies are assembled. It's time to defeat Sinmur!"

After accepting the quest, he'll say:

"Help clear the path to the Trolhetta Summit. We must stop Sinmur and the Worm Cult!"

When you destroy the Necrosis Orb and you'll find he has made his way to the summit:

"Others doubted you, but I knew you could do it!"
Good to see you too, Vigrod.
"Excellent! You've cleared the pass for us. I'm moving our troops forward now."

Stomping SinmurEdit

If you have not started the quest yet, he will say:

"The true test comes. Prepare yourselves."

The Pact now needs to fight off the last of the Worm Cultists in Trolhetta before confronting Sinmur and Thallik, which you will need to use the shards to separate both spirits in order to defeat them both:

"The final hurdle is ahead of us. Are you ready?"
I'm ready. What's next?
"We must fight past the last of the Worm Cultists ahead of us. Then we face Sinmur and Thallik. That merging is a foe worthy of Ysgramor, yet it falls to us to face them."
Then how can we defeat them?
"We must separate them. Great damage to Sinmur will tear their spirits asunder. Then both are vulnerable.
Either the shards of Wuuthrad or mighty companions are needed for this task!"
I'm ready.

If you have not gathered all the shards, he'll say:

(?)

Otherwise if you have gathered all the shards, you can ask him further questions about the shards:

"Jorunn the Skald-King asked me to thank you for gathering all the shards. He brought them into the ruins for the final battle."
Can we defeat Sinmur without the shards of Wuuthrad? / Can we defeat Sinmur without Wuuthrad's shards?
"Perhaps, but not alone. If you plan to fight him without the shards, seek out other powerful warriors like yourself. You have little chance of besting the giant alone.
Remember, Ysgramor fought alongside 500 Companions!"
How can Wuuthrad's shards help against Sinmur? / What else can you tell me about the shards of Wuuthrad?
"Long ago, Ysgramor used Wuuthrad to slay Sinmur. That act imbued the axe with great power against the giant. Even Wuuthrad's shards can cause him tremendous harm."
How?
"Valdam Andoren discovered a way to harness the power in each shard and turn it against Sinmur. He'll place the shards you've collected in runic braziers.
Activate those braziers to unleash the shards against Sinmur!"

After you defeated Sinmur and spoke to Jorunn, you will need to break the good news to Vigrod:

"What happened inside? Is Jorunn safe?"
Sinmur is dead, Vigrod!
"To tell the truth, I feared we wouldn't win this fight. The Rift is finally back under Pact control."

After the quest:

"Sinmur is now dead, thanks to you. Whether he stays dead is another question."

The Weight of Three CrownsEdit

During the Summit Meeting between the three Alliance leaders on the island of Stirk, Vigrod will act as the personal bodyguard of Jorunn the Skald King. If you are part of the Ebonheart Pact, he will greet you.

"Our alliance owes you a great debt, friend."

Otherwise he will dismiss you:

"Bah. I don't trust your leader, and I don't trust you."

During Molag Bal's assault on the Alliance leaders, Vigrod will be injured during battle.
