DialogueEdit

Sentinel PalaceEdit

When you first enter the Sentinel Palace, you will catch the tail-end of a conversation between Talia and King Fahara'jad.

Talia at-Marimah: "With all respect, Your Majesty, this proves our suspicions were well-founded ... you should have heeded my father's warning."
King Fahara'jad: "It is not the place of the dishonored to correct the king, Ash'abah. You are dismissed."
Talia at-Marimah: "I meant no disrespect, Your Majesty, only that ... you know where to find us. I will take my leave."

Morwha's CurseEdit

If you speak to her without helping King Fahara'jad in Sentinel, you can meet Talia off the road northeast of Morwha's Bounty. She will say "My father told me someone would come."

Speaking to her:

"You approach the camp of the Ash'abah.
Unless you are here to help us, I suggest you turn around and go the other way."
What help do you need?
"My father's very sick. So are many of our warriors. Many have even died.
Our water was poisoned, probably by these foul necromancers—the Withered Hand. They seek to weaken the Ash'abah so that we cannot stand against them."
You would fight the necromancers?
"More to the point, we would fight the dead they raise. Such is our sacred duty as Ash'abah.
None of that matters though, unless I can find the ingredients for the antidote. It is the only way to save my father. Will you help me?"
Yes. I will help you find the ingredients.

You can also meet her after King Fahara'jad asks you to help. If you speak to Mazra first, she'll say:

"You approach the camp of the Ash'abah.
Unless you are here to help us, I suggest you turn around and go the other way."

Otherwise, she'll greet you with:

"You approach the camp of the Ash'abah ….
Wait … I recognize you from Fahara'jad's palace. Hmmph! He would not listen to us, and now we all pay for his stubbornness!"
King Fahara'jad sent me. I need to speak with Marimah.
"Fahara'jad sent you to ask for our help? Now? The nerve of this king!
Hmmph. Well, if you seek my father, you should know he—and many other
[sic] of our warriors—are extremely ill. Some are dead. Our water was poisoned."
Who poisoned your water?
"I suspect is was the necromancers—The Withered Hand—but it is of little importance now.
All that matters is finding the ingredients for the antidote. If my father dies, there is no Ash'abah for the king to call upon. Will you help me then?"
I'll help you find the ingredients.

Once you agree to help her she will tell you to find her at her tent.

Talia at-Marimah "Come quickly then. Meet me at my tent in the camp!"

When you reach her tent, she will hand you a list of ingredients and ask you to lead the way.

Talia at-Marimah "Here. I've marked on your map where my father says we can find the ingredients. Lead the way!"

As you collect the ingredients she will comment on the situation: Collecting Juniper Leaves:

Talia at-Marimah "I will see my falllen [sic] brothers and sister avenged even if it is the last thing I ever do."

Collecting Cave Palm Fruit:

Talia at-Marimah "My father has been chief of the tribe for twenty-six years. We would not know what to do without him."

Collecting Satakal's Blossom:

Talia at-Marimah "Who would have believed the Withered Hand would poison our water?"

Collecting Cactus Powder:

Talia at-Marimah "We must hurry. So many Ash'abah have already died."

Once all the ingredients have been collected:

"That's everything. Meet me at my father's tent."

When you approach her father's tent, she seems to be disagreeing with her father:

Talia at-Marimah "Please, Father! There must be some way!"
Marimah "You must accept this, Talia. My time has come. Go prepare the potion. I must speak with our guest."
Talia at-Marimah "I do not like this, but I will do as you say, Father."

Speak to her after she leaves her father's side, and she'll say:

"My father would speak with you. I need a moment to myself."

The InitiationEdit

Before you accept the quest from Marimah, Talia will be still making the potion:

"I am still mixing the ingredients. You will have to wait.
It takes great patience to be an Ash'abah. You might as well start getting accustomed to it."

After speaking with Marimah, he will send you to Talia to begin the trial of the Ash'abah.

"A great man lies dying over there, and he has put all his faith in you. I hope it is not misplaced.
I have finished mixing the potion for your initiation. Whenever you are ready, we can begin the trial."
I'm ready.
"Very well. Then here it is. Go to the makhadda in the back of the tent and drink.
Be prepared, initiate. The potion will bring on a vision of the past. When the vision is over, you will know what it means to be Ash'abah."
I understand.

If you speak to her again:

"You have the potion, initiate. Drink it. Experience the vision and become an Ash'abah."

After experiencing the vision and returning, Marimah has passed on and Talia will ask you about your vision of the past. The dialogue will change depending on which of the brothers, Sameer or Haqmir, was exiled.

If Sameer was exiled
If Haqmir was exiled
"Welcome back. You were gone for longer than I expected.
I trust you walked in the steps of Prince Sameer of Yath and experienced the events that led to his exile?"
Yes. He was the first Ash'Abah?
"He was. Sameer went on to start a family and a tribe in exile. They wandered the desert as nomads and became known as the Ash'abah.
Haqmir became king and ruled peacefully until years later, when he again faced the threat of necromancers and undead."
What happened?
"The colony from Yath would have fallen, but Sameer led his tribe against the necromancers and their army of risen dead. The Ash'abah accepted the dishonor of fighting the dead to save the kingdom. So it has been ever since."
"Welcome back. You were gone for longer than I expected.
I trust you walked beside Prince Haqmir of Yath and experienced the events that led to his exile?"
Yes. He was the first Ash'Abah?
"He was. Haqmir went on to start a family and a tribe in exile. They wandered the desert as nomads and became known as the Ash'abah.
Sameer became king and ruled peacefully until many years later, when he again faced the threat of necromancers and undead."
What happened?
"The colony from Yath would have fallen, but Haqmir led his tribe against the necromancers and their army of risen dead. The Ash'abah accepted the dishonor of fighting the dead to save the kingdom. So it has been ever since."
I understand.
"You have now witnessed the first sacrifice, and you know that true honor need not be named.
You are one of us. You are Ash'abah. We will recognize you as our [brother/sister] and together, we will uphold the sacred duty of our tribe."
Then my initiation is complete?
"Yes. The words have been spoken.
Normally my father would conduct a small ceremony and speak the words … but his spirit moved on while you were unconscious. His last request was that you and I would destroy the Withered Hand."

Ash'abah RisingEdit

If you haven't started the quest, she will say "I will see the Withered Hand destroyed." After you have been initiated, Talia will have a task for you:

"There is little we can do to help our fellow Ash'abah here now, so we should do as my father wished.
We should dedicate ourselves to destroying the Withered Hand. They killed my father; I will enjoy the opportunity to even the score."
Where do we start?
"There is a place to the northeast, a sacred place called Tu'whacca's Throne. It is a place of quiet and honor. Many, many heroes have been laid to rest there.
I worry what would happen if the Withered Hand were to go there."
Let's go to Tu'whacca's throne then.
"I must see to the consecration of my father's remains. It would be disrespectful to do otherwise.
Go on to Tu'whacca's Throne. Look for an Ash'abah named Ramati. I know these sands well. I will catch up with you soon enough."
I will go one to Tu'whacca's Throne then.

If you speak to her again at the camp, she is annoyed that you haven't left yet.

"Why are you wasting time? My father did not instruct you to relax here and then go after the Withered Hand ....
You are Ash'abah now. You have a job to do. Go to Tu'whacca's Throne. We will see each other again soon enough."

Alasan's PlotEdit

When you arrive at Tava's Blessing, she can be found injured on the outskirts of the port town. She will say "Uhhh…I've done all I can."

If spoken with she will tell you what she has learnt to start the quest:

"Tu'whacca guided your footsteps here at the perfect moment, [brother/sister].
There is Ash'abah work to be done—the Withered Hand has taken over the port. The situation is … strange though, to say the least."
What is the situation?
"The Withered Hand launched a surprise attack against Tava's Blessing. They killed everyone and everything, even the livestock.
The strange thing is, they have not raised the dead."
Why haven't they raised any of the dead?
"I do not know, but I fear they plan something terrible.
Prince Azah and his men are barricaded in the warehouse at the eastern edge of town. He may have learned more about what these fiends are planning. You should go to him."
I'll go find Prince Azah then.

Speaking to her again:

"I hope the prince has learned more. I believe the Withered Hand has brought one of the Ansei Wards here, and that does not bode well.
You were at Tu'whacca's Throne, were you not? So you know that as well as anyone."

You can also ask for her opinion about the attack:

Why would the Withered Hand attack this place?
"I wish I could tell you. Fahara'jad's naval shipyards are here, but I cannot imagine why the Withered Hand would care about that.
I hear these were sacred grounds back in the days of the Ansei. Perhaps that is what drew the Withered Hand here."

After you spoke to Prince Azah and starting to break the focus points:

"Whatever they're planning, they must be stopped. That much is certain."

Once you have recovered one of the Ansei wards and defeating Alasan, Prince Azah and Shiri will have joined Talia on the outskirts:

"Prince Azah has been anxiously awaiting your return. You should speak to him right away."

After speaking with Prince Azah and before turning in Alasan's Plot, you can ask her what she's been up to lately:

"I cannot tell you how relieved I am to hear that the Ansei Ward is safe. I will summon other Ash'abah to come here and help clean out the rest of these Ra-Netu.
You—you must go after the third Ansei Ward."
Where have you been since we parted ways?
"I had to see to the consecration of my father's remains, of course. Then I sought to catch you at Tu'whacca's Throne, but I arrived too late.
Soon thereafter, I joined Prince Azah on the road. He suspected the Withered Hand would come here."

Amputating the HandEdit

When you arrive at Motalion Necropolis, you will soon find an injured Talia with some terrible news.

"You-you are here? Thank the gods! We need you!
The third Ansei Ward is here. That girl Shiri—the scholar's apprentice—she is a necromancer and she has come to the necropolis. We have to stop her!"
What is she doing here?
"Raising the dead … the consecrated dead. The very dangerous consecrated dead.
The most evil people who ever walked the sands of the Alik'r are entombed in the Motalion Necropolis. Prince Azah and I came to stop them, but we were overpowered."
Where is Prince Azah now?
"I fear he is either dead or taken captive. We were attacked by so many, so fast … I tried to find him, but to no avail. I came back to catch my breath.
With you here, though … I am willing to try again. If you are … that is."
Yes. Let's go find Prince Azah.

Before you continue you can ask more questions:

"We must hurry to find the prince. That girl Shiri—she is not who we thought she was—she is heartless. Given the chance, I have no doubt she will kill the prince and raise him as her undead thrall.
We must not allow that to happen."
Was anyone else with Prince Azah? / Throne Keeper Farvad is here?
"Throne Keeper Farvad and several of the prince's guards came here with us, but … most of them were killed when we were attacked.
It happened so fast … we should have been more prepared."
How did Throne Keeper Farvad get here?
"He came on his own. He said someone warned him about Shiri and that he was directed to come to Motalion Necropolis.
Of course, he also said Tu'whacca was speaking to him, so I am not sure how much to believe."
How did you learn about Shiri?
"We were cleaning up at Tava's Blessing, putting down the risen dead that remained, but the prince learned that the Withered Hand had been seen here.
When we entered the necropolis, they attacked immediately, and Shiri was leading them."
So she's a necromancer?
"Yes. Prince Azah said she was the sister to Uwafa and Alasan. He remembered her from when she was a little child.
I was just shocked to see her … cursing us and casting her dark magics. She is the most evil person I have ever seen."
Why did Shiri come here?
"To raise an army, we assumed. Throne Keeper Farvad suspected something else though. He would not say exactly, but he seemed very concerned.
Perhaps the prince understood what he was nervous about. Regardless, we need to find him quickly."

Once you have rescued both Prince Azah and Throne Keeper Farvad, they and Talia can be found standing outside the tomb of Suturah where Shiri is. You have the choice of picking a companion to join you in the confrontation:

"You know where I stand. We have sliced through the enemies' ranks to get this far, and my blades are still at your disposal.
I do not relish fighting, but I have trained since birth for this kind of thing."
You think you're well-suited for this fight?
"As well-suited as I have been for the others. I am trained to fight necromancers and undead. My blades already know the soft spots in their makeup.
If you can distract her, I will cut that wench Shiri's throat before she can finish her incantation."
Then let's do this together, Talia.
I need a moment before I make this decision. (Ends Conversation)

Once a companion is picked, the other two will break the barrier on the door. Dialogue is different depending on who is chosen:

If Talia at-Marimah is selected
Talia at-Marimah: "Excellent. We shall put down Shiri as my father put down Suturah before."
<The Ansei Wards are channeled to unlock the door.>
Throne Keeper Farvad: "Tu'whacca demands justice be done!"
Prince Azah: "This wall will not stand before the power of an Ansei Ward."
<The door is unsealed.>
Talia at-Marimah: "It is done. Lead on."
If Throne Keeper Farvad is selected
Throne Keeper Farvad: "Tu'whacca walks with you, and so will I."
<The Ansei Wards are channeled to unlock the door.>
Talia at-Marimah: "All right, let us open the door then."
Prince Azah: "This wall will not stand before the power of an Ansei Ward."
<The door is unsealed.>
Throne Keeper Farvad: "It is done. Tu'whacca says it is time for us to go in."
If Prince Azah is selected
Prince Azah: "All right. Farvad, Talia … you know what to do."
Talia at-Marimah: "All right, Let us open the door then."
<The Ansei Wards are channeled to unlock the door.>
Throne Keeper Farvad: "Tu'whacca demands justice be done!"
Prince Azah: "Yes! That did it. Lead on."

Restoring the Ansei WardsEdit

Talia is present during Restoring the Ansei Wards, where she attends the ceremony in the Impervious Vault with members of the Ash'abah. She expresses her gratitude:

"My father would be very proud of us, I think. You have ensured that the honor of the Ash'abah will abide. I am grateful that I can count you as one of our tribe."
The honor was all mine, Talia.

"You are as generous and kind as you are brave, sister. I hope we walk the sands together again someday.
Until then, remember … true honor need not be named.
"
