Fort Grief sits on an island at the mouth of the Silverfish River in Niben Bay. While it once was a thriving command center for the Imperial Legion, it fell into disuse and disrepair near the end of the First Era and has rarely been occupied since. (Fort Grief)
"Fort Grief? That eye sore? It's been abandoned for decades. Oh, we try to get someone in there to repair it every couple of years or so, but it never takes. It's the disgrace of Niben Bay."—Captain Rian Liore, the Ivory Brigade

Fort Grief

Fort Grief is an abandoned Legion fort on an island in Niben Bay. The ruins have been occupied by the Order of the Waking Flame under the command of Sister Celdina.

The Waking Flame and their Daedric allies have taken unaffiliated Dremora hostage in the fort, and are sacrificing them to the Riven Cataclyst to create a powerful Incarnate. You will enter the fort through a portal atop Annihilarch's Summit in the Deadlands during the related quest.

Fort GriefEdit

The exterior bailey of the fort is filled with Waking Flame cultists and hostile Daedra.

Fort Grief CitadelEdit

As you descend into the interior of the keep, Imperial architecture gives way to Daedric ruins and strange fleshy growths.

Riven Cataclyst ChamberEdit

Riven Cataclyst Chamber

This large subterranean dome contains the Riven Cataclyst. Sister Celdina has fed multiple Dremora sacrifices to the machine to produce an Incarnate, who you will have to face in battle.

NotesEdit

  • Fort Grief first appeared in Oblivion.
  • The exterior is visible from the Cyrodiil zone, but is out-of-bounds. On it is a camp with three tents and a skeleton with a paintbrush looking at a map of Cyrodiil, seemingly an in-joke by the developers who created the zone.
