Detailed WalkthroughEdit

Once you reach Adept Rank in the Tales of Tribute, Master Razhamad will offer you this quest.

"Eager to begin the next tournament? Then I have good news! The Roister's Club just sent word that our new opponents will arrive soon!
We have time, though. I imagine they are in no hurry to face defeat at the hands of our chapters's newest prodigy."
Is the rest of the team ready?
"Brahgas began pacing as soon as I gave him the news, so clearly he is ready. As for Sorinne? She seems less so."
"It would be a pity if she withdrew. Advancing witout her help .... I do not want to say it is impossible, but it is very unlikely."
Is she all right?
"I hope so. A letter addressed to her arrived yesterday. She seemed deeply troubled after reading it. I offered an ear to listen, but she insisted she would be fine and left. Now, I am not so sure."
"Sorinne clearly likes you. Would you speak to her?"
Sure. I'll go talk to Sorinne now.

You can try to get more information out of him at this point:

"The three of you represent the Gonfalon Chapter's best hopes for a title—I would hate for Sorinne to miss her chance. She's worked so hard to reach this point!
I did not see where she went, but someone in the hall might know."
Do you have any idea what could have caused this?
"If Brahgas started acting peculiar, I would have a hundred theories. But Sorinne shines brighter than the sun over the Alik'r. She has no enemies to speak of, so far as I know.
She did have some trouble in Elsweyr before coming to High Isle, though."
What kind of trouble?
"Sorinne rarely speaks about her past. When I try to learn more, she becomes evasive. Nervous. I do not wish to pry, but we all adore her and would try to ease her burdens if given the chance.
I only know that the trouble had to do with skooma."
Do you think there's a connection between this letter and her past in Elsweyr?
"Were I a betting man, I would say yes. But we cannot help her if we do not know for sure.
Find her. Speak with her. I only hope she speaks more candidly with you than she does with me."

Now, you should speak to Brahgas to learn Sorinne's whereabouts.

"Today's the day! The Intermediate Tournament! I don't think I've ever had a sharper deck. I bet it could even beat one of those Mournhold decks! Not that I…I mean, there's no way we're playing them, right?
Sorry. Rambling. You need something?"
I'm looking for Sorinne. Have you seen her?
"Sorinne? She's been a little sullen the last couple of days. Something about a letter, I think? I saw her head upstairs earlier. Couldn't tell you if she's still up there or not.
Is something wrong?"
Maybe. Razhamad asked me to check on her.
"Maybe? What's that supposed to mean? She's going to play, right? Right?
Z'en's price, she's not going to play, is she? Damn it! She's worked so hard. We all have! Did someone threaten her? Just give me a name! Let me at them!"
I don't know what's troubling her yet. That's why I need to find her.
"Think Brahgas think! She might have been…yeah, she was definitely talking to some Khajiit lady. It wasn't that long ago. The cat's probably still here in the Gaming Hall.
Just hurry. We've got some time before our opponents arrive, but not much!"

Now speak to Raenobi on the upper floor.

"Why do they always pester Raenobi…?
This one already has a drink, walker. Tell your friends Raenobi is married. Or a celibate. Whichever you prefer."
I'm not here to flirt. Were you talking to a woman named Sorinne earlier?
"Sorinne? Yes, Sorinne is an old friend of Raenobi's! This one was just catching up with her, yes? We have not seen each other for a long, long time.
This one missed her dearly."
What brings you to Gonfalon Bay?
"Well, Raenobi heard her old friend made it to the second round of the Tribute tournament! A proud moment for this one, truly. Raenobi introduced Sorinne to the game, you see?
So, this one just came to wish her luck and give her a tiny sweet, yes?"
A tiny sweet?
"A gift, walker. Just a small reminder of where she came from and what she left behind. This one hopes she found a quiet corner where she could enjoy it. It always did help her game.
Now, if there isn't anything else? Good luck in the tournament."

At this point she will get up and leave, but not before giving you a hint:

Raenobi: "Sorinne probably took her sweet to the docks. If you see her, tell her Raenobi has more to offer…if she is interested."

You can really find Sorinne at the docks just behind the Gaming Hall.

"Hey, what are you—? Did you come out here to look for me? I'm sorry. I know the tournament starts soon. I just needed a moment.
It's complicated. I appreciate your concern, but really, I don't want to drag you into my mess."
Razhamad sent me. He's concerned about you.
"So, now I'm dragging Razhamad into this too? Mara's mercy.
I got a letter from an old friend. She and I were very close, but…I hated the person I was around her. I had to leave Elsweyr—to leave her. And now, suddenly, she's back in my life."
What did the letter say?
"The usual. Little stories. Inside jokes. They tore down our favorite tavern, apparently. Our favorite from back when I was using, I mean.
It just…it all came flooding back. Everything I tried to escape. It's like I'm right back where I started."
And now she's here?
"Yeah, she's here. And she came bearing gifts. Skooma.
After all this time, you'd think I could just say no, but I plucked it right out of her hand. No hesitation. I told myself I would bring it down here and pour it out in the harbor. But now…."
You want to use it again?
"I never stopped wanting it. Even now, talking to you, knowing what I know about what this does to people, I still want a taste.
I just need a moment to think. Thanks for checking on me. Can't say for sure, but I think you just saved my life."

After this talk, she will chuck the skooma bottle into the sea and sends you to talk to Braghas in the Gaming Hall plaza.

Sorinne Gaerard: "Go ahead back to the gaming hall and let Brahgas know I'm coming. This old life…I'm done with it."

"This one, Raenobi, adjutant game-baron of the Elden Root Chapter, hereby challenge the Gonfalon Bay players in this intermediate tournament!"

Once you find Braghas, the Elden Root Chapter of the Roister's Club will arrive with Raenobi as the leader of the competition.

Brahgas: "There you are! Z'en's price, I thought I was going to be the only one out here! Our opponents will be here any—"
Raenobi: "Greetings, walkers. Oh, Raenobi thought there would be more of you. Shame. Well, the games must go on, yes?"
Raenobi: "This one, Raenobi, adjutant game-baron of the Elden Root Chapter, hereby challenge the Gonfalon Bay players in this intermediate tournament!"

Now, speak with Raenobi:

"Oh, sweetmeat, you look like the senche who swallowed the terror bird!
Are you surprised to see Raenobi? Surely, you would not blame this one for her good fortune. A dear friend and a tournament in the same place? It is so convenient!"
You're the intermediate leader?
"Raenobi has her claws in many sugar jars. Can a businesswoman not enjoy herself from time to time?
And business can be pleasure also, yes? Many Tribute players want what Raenobi sells. Skooma makes us sharper. Sleeker. You should try it someday."
So, you tried to sabotage our team by getting Sorinne hooked again?
"Sabotage? Do you think this game means so much to Raenobi? No, walker. This one misses her friend. Sorinne is wasted in this dungy place. She belongs with Raenobi. She only needs reminding, yes?
But ziss'vo! So serious. We have a game to play, yes?"
Yes we do. And we intend to win.
"Of course! Though, it will be difficult with only you and your little acorn-Elf, yes?
Lentondil will face you at Skywatch Market in Auridon. Then Malilen in the city of Marbuk in Greenshade. This one lounges in Elden Root. See you soon, sweetmeat!"

After speaking to Raenobi, Sorinne will arrive to prove Raenobi that she's not backing down from this challenge despite goading her with skooma:

Sorinne Gaerard: "Always playing the same tricks, aren't you, Raenobi?"
Raenobi: "Oh, Sorinne. What a surprise! How did you enjoy this one's gift? Smooth and fragrant, yes?"
Sorinne Gaerard: "I wouldn't know. You'll have to ask the fish at the bottom of the harbor."
Brahgas: "That can't be good for them…."
Sorinne Gaerard: "I suggest you get ready for the tournament, Raenobi. We'll be seeing you soon."

The first part of the tournament is taking part in Skywatch, so travel to the marketplace there. You'll find Sorinne already there, standing near your opponent - Lentondil. You can talk to Sorinne about the upcoming matches:

"Hey there, friend! You go first, all right? I've got to make sure I'm composed when I battle Lentondil.
I won't lose this tournament. I've come too far."

Go on and challenge Lentondil:

"Welcome, welcome, welcome. I was beginning to worry about you wouldn't show. Not that anyone could blame you.
Are you ready to begin?"
Let's play Tribute.

After beating him, he will take it with a slight stride:

"You…you beat me? Well, bully for you."

Sorinne's spirits will be high after your victory.

"Thank you. That match…how you won. That's what I needed. I know I can do this now. I'm not backing down.
Go out there and keep dominating my friend. I'll do the same!"

The next match is taking place in Marbruk, so travel there. Brahgas will already be at the site, waiting next to your opponent - Malilen.

"Hey! I was waiting for you or Sorinne to show up. I already won my match—figured I'd cheer you on.
Just be careful with this Malilen, yeah? She's a quick thinker. Almost got me a couple of times."

Next, face Malinen in a match.

"There you are! Show me your cards, Gonfalon. Come on and show me!
Don't drag this out. I've got things to do."
Let's play Tribute.

After defeating her, she will be confused about what happened:

"What? How did you do that? How many cards did you play? Wait, how many cards did I—?
Z'en's price my head hurts. Just get out of here. Leave me alone."

Brahgas will be happy about your win:

"Well played! Not that Malilen will remember. She's got more skooma than blood in those veins, I wager. She'll be lucky to make it home with all her teeth intact.
But enough about her. We have a tournament to win! See you in Elden Root."

Once you arrive in Elden Root to the Tribute tent, everyone will already be present. Malilen will still be confused, while Lentondil doesn't doubt their Chapter's victory:

"You don't have a snowball's chance in Hammerfell. Nobody plays like the Elden Root Chapter!"

Sorinne's has faith you can defeat Raenobi:

"Don't worry about me. Don't pay me any mind. Just wipe the floor with her, friend."

Brahgas is also present to cheer you on. And to present strange concerns:

"And here we are. Time to rub defeat into Raenobi's expertly-coiffed….
Hang on. Is it me, or are all of Gonfalon's opponents well-groomed? Or, maybe we're just scruffier than everyone else…."

Proceed to challenge Raenobi to a game:

"So, Sorinne's new boring friend come to face Raenobi, yes? This is good. Once this one scratches your dungy strategies to pieces, Sorinne will learn what a fool she has been.
She will come crawling back to Raenobi soon enough."
You've got to beat me first.
"Feh! Raenobi learned from the best. While you supped from boozy Razhamad's baby bottle, this one sat at the paws of true masters. You have no chance, walker. None.
But, you are right. Why speak when you can show, yes? Shuffle your deck walker!"
Let's play.

Once you defeat Raenobi, Raenobi will act like this defeat is nothing and that your friends cannot beat her:

Raenobi: "Kra! You are better than this one thought. But one victory means little, yes? Neither of your friends will best Raenobi."
Sorinne Gaerard: "Still so overconfident. That's why you're going to lose. Again."
Raenobi: "Ziss on you, Sorinne! You will not be so lucky as your so-called friend."

Speaking to her again before Sorinne. She will admit you have skill and at the same time views Sorinne as weak:

"Raenobi must admit you have skill. But skill counts for little without cunning.
Sorinne is soft…weak. She yields when she should attack. That is why I beat her every time. And that is why I will beat her again today."

Lentondil's tone starts to shift now:

"Raenobi's sweets….could they be holding me back? We will see how she fares here at the end of the tournament."

Meanwhile, Malilen is fully feeling the skooma:

"Do I know you? How did I get there? My mind…it's so foggy. Ugh, I think I might be sick."

Braghas has run off, so speak to Sorinne to advance the quest:

"Well played! That face Raenobi makes she when she knows she's beaten? It's like a breath of fresh sea air. And I mean to see it again when I beat her!"
You ready for your match?
"Yeah, actually. I am. After our talk earlier, I know I can do this.
I spent so many years being the woman Raenobi thought I was—I never thought about the woman I wanted to be. I see that woman now, thanks to you."
Glad to hear it. Good luck.
"Oh, luck will have nothing to do with it, my friend. This is a thrashing that's a been decade in the making.
Now, you go on. Get back to the gaming hall and enjoy your victory! I'll join you directly."

Speaking to her again before heading back to Gonfalon:

"We're doing things my way this time. Win or lose, Raenobi will never forget what happens here today."

Now, head back to Gonfalon's Gaming Hall, where Gelekh will shout welcomes at you from behing the bar.

Gelekh: "Look who's back! Didn't take too long, did it?"

You can go and speak to her before Razhamad:

"You're the first one to come back. Razhamad's waiting for you, fretting like a mother echatere.
Personally, I knew you'd make short work of those Elden Root runts. Don't tell Brahgas I said that, though."

Go and speak to Master Razhamad now to complete the quest:

"Welcome back, my friend! I hear you skinned that cat, Raenobi. A fitting end to her unscrupulous strategies!
I applaud your victory, but in truth, you achieved something far greater than advancing in a tournament."
What do you mean?
"I speak of your compassion you showed for Sorinne.
No matter the outcome of her match with Raenobi, she cast off a pair of heavy shackles today. There will be other difficult days, but with your help, she's better prepared to weather them."
Good. So, what's next?
"Now, we prepare for the final round! The last challenge on the long road to master status and ultimate victory in the tournaments!
We have a brief respite, though. For now, take this reward and bask in the glow of victory. Welcome to advanced play!"
