Talviah Aliaria

Talviah Aliaria is a High Elf noble, who has travelled to Wrothgar from the Summerset Isles to prove his courage to his family.

He can first be encountered at the site of the ambushed supply caravan, just beyond the Merchant's Gate in Wrothgar, leaning against a wagon near Eveli Sharp-Arrow. When you've recovered information on the traitor and have to speak to Chief Bazrag on the road to Orsinium, he is present with Eveli Sharp-Arrow.

Talviah tries to ingratiate himself with King Kurog, but Kurog sees the elf as nothing more than a messenger whenever the king needs your assistance.

Invitation to OrsiniumEdit

When near the ambushed supply caravan:

"Damn Winterborn! Savages from the Reach, every last one of them!"
"Keep your head down if you don't want one of the Winterborn to chop it off!"
"I have a good mind to give those Winterborn a taste of their own pudding, but there might be more of them hiding in the rocks."
"I knew taking on all those peasants was a mistake. Between them and the cargo of food and supplies, we were too tempting a target for Ice-Heart's marauders."

Before speaking to Chief Bazrag:

"I wonder how the Winterborn knew we were coming? It was like they were waiting for us when we came through the Merchant's Gate."

After speaking to him:

"Thanks for making sure at least some of the Orc peasants made it out of there safely.
Maybe I'll see you in Orsinium? I can't imagine that an Orc city is that big."

A King-Sized ProblemEdit

As you make your way through Orsinium, you'll be hailed by a familiar face:

Talviah Aliaria: "Excuse me! Remember me? From the Winterborn ambush? The caravan? Hey, I'm talking to you!"

Speak to him and he'll explain:

"Sorry for shouting at you. It must be this city. Makes me want to walk fast and speak loudly.
Oh, you must remember me! The caravan? The Winterborn ambush? Thanks again for helping us with that."
Is there something I can help you with?
"Well, not me, exactly. I came to Wrothgar to elevate my status and here I am running errands for the Orcs. Somewhat ignoble, but what can I say?
Anyway, your assistance against the Winterborn and in recovering their supplies hasn't gone unnoticed."
So who wants to see me?
"The king himself has requested your presence at his private tavern here in Orsinium.
You must have made quite an impression! You'll have to share your secrets with me some time."
I'll go see the king at his tavern.
Talviah Aliaria: "Perhaps you'll be so kind as to put in a good word about me with the king. I'd so enjoy an invitation to his cornerclub!"

If you speak to him again, he'll say:

"If you find yourself in need of assistance on any of your secret missions for the king, feel free to seek me out.
I'd much prefer to do something—anything—other than carrying messages for the Orcs. I could have stayed home for that."

In the Name of the KingEdit

Once again as you walk the streets of Orsinium, minding your own business, you'll be hailed again:

Talviah Aliaria: "Ah, there you are! Guess what. I have another message for you from the king."
"It's wonderful to see you again, my friend, but I really wish the king would find someone else to serve as a messenger.
I have so many other talents that could greatly benefit Orsinium."
What does the king need this time?
"I have no idea, although I did hear something or other about a moot of some kind.
I suppose the best way to find out is to go and see the king."
Where does the king want to see me?
"In the throne room, up at the keep. Hopefully he won't be in too foul of a mood when you get there.
He seemed out of sorts when I told him this was the last message I was going to deliver. Either he finds something else for me to do or I'm leaving."
I guess I'll go and see the king.

Speak to him before leaving and he'll say:

"Good luck with whatever the king wants you to deal with this time.
Me? I think I'm going to go have a soak in the bath house. Sounds like a perfect diversion—at least until they find something worthy for one of my obvious skills and talents."

The Anger of a KingEdit

Decipher Eveli's cryptic message and you'll find her with a small contingent of Orsinium movers and shakers:

"Eveli asked for our help, but all they've done since we arrived is argue and shout at each other.
If I wanted to see such behavior, I would have remained with my kinhouse back in Auridon."

After speaking to the priestess, Solgra will turn to Talviah Aliaria and Flies-In-Wind and delivers her orders:

High Priestess Solgra: "You two have your orders. Scout the temple exterior. The others will join you shortly."
Talviah Aliaria: "Finally! Something to do that doesn't involve a message!"

The two exit the room.

Make your way to Paragon's Remembrance and you'll find him along with Flies-In-Wind and Eveli:

Eveli Sharp-Arrow: "The entrance has to be somewhere in those hills."
Talviah Aliaria: "It's certainly well hidden. If Bazrag lied to us, then we're probably about to meet with horrible, horrible deaths."

If you speak to him he'll suddenly remember a long forgotten quest:

"I never said thank you. For helping us when we first arrived in Wrothgar, remember? Well, thank you.
It feels good to finally be doing what we actually came here to do. You won't find better scouts in all of Orsinium—that I know of."

After speaking to Eveli, he'll say:

"Eveli thinks that our best chance of getting into the ruins undetected is to disguise ourselves as high-ranking members of the Vosh Rakh, and I concur.
If you check out the group that went west, we'll search in the other direction."
Were you able to learn anything about the Vosh Rakh?
"The Vosh Rakh are up to something, that's for sure. They've been gathering in the ruins ever since we got here.
We did notice something unusual, though. The high-ranking cultists appear to be much better dressed than their subordinates."
Is that significant?
"Not necessarily. It might just mean that the leaders have more funds and better taste.
Still, between the robes and the masks, acquiring a few of their uniforms could definitely help us sneak inside."

Make your way inside the fortress and you'll find the group already in disguise:

Eveli Sharp-Arrow: "This illusion is so weird. It looks like I'm wearing robes, but I feel so … unencumbered."
Flies-In-Wind: "This is like the time I licked one of our great hists. I feel so … exposed."
Talviah Aliaria: "It's merely an illusion bound to the amulet. Nothing to be concerned about. I've seen these used at festivals and grand balls back home."
Eveli Sharp-Arrow: "I wonder if they come in different colors?"

Speak to him before Eveli:

"Eveli's plan puts you and I into the thick of things. Fine by me! I wanted to see if everything our Wood Elf says about you is true.
Speaking of which, Eveli wants to talk to you before we go inside."

After speaking to Eveli, she and the argonian go off in a different direction from you and Talviah.

"All right. We can do this. We just sneak in, find out what we need to know, and get out.
I mean, it's just a meeting. We have these amulets. We'll be fine. Right?"
You sure you're ready for this?
"It's the whole reason I came to Wrothgar. To show that I can fight. To prove myself to my family, to everyone. I'm more than just a scribe destined to spend his whole life behind a desk.
This … this will show everyone what I'm capable of."
You don't have anything to prove.
"Oh, that's where you're wrong, my friend. I come from a long line of warriors and mages, but most of my family considers me to be the tarnished fruit on the tree of golden pears. It's time for me to show them who I really am."
Then let's go do something to make your family proud.
"I knew you'd understand! When your father is a royal mage, your mother is one of the queen's guard, and your sister almost single-handedly won the Battle of Sunken Spire, well … let's just say I've got a lot to live up to.
Now let's go do this!"

Speak to him again and his courage slips a bit:

"Suddenly my mouth is dry, my hands are sweating. Is this how you feel every time you go on an adventure?
We'll be fine, though. What could go wrong? We're just sneaking into a private meeting of the cult's elite. Gods, what did Eveli talk me into?"

Inside the Chambers Of Loyalty, you'll be given instructions by Elder Akarah:

Elder Akarah: "Trinimac, hear our prayer. Guide our weapons and alert us to all dangers. Grant us the courage to complete the trial you place before us."

Talviah will start to get cold feet again:

Talviah Aliaria: "That doesn't sound good. I thought we were just spying on a meeting."

Akarah will continue:

Elder Akarah: "You, the chosen of the Vosh Rakh, have shown bravery against the Malacath heretics, even going so far as to invade the temple we love and cherish."
Elder Akarah: "But one challenge remains. A challenge to test you, to select the most worthy for our most important mission."
Elder Akarah: "Now choose a scroll and select a blessing to help you in your ordeal. Elder Azulg will answer any questions you have. Now, in Trinimac's name, may you find great honor—or an honorable death!"

Speak to him and he'll leave the decision making up to you:

"Go on ahead. I'm going to read these scrolls and choose a blessing before we start this trial."

Read the scrolls and he'll have more to say:

"I don't think this is just some routine meeting. What in Akatosh's name are they talking about? A trial? Trinimac's blessing?
Sounds kind of dangerous to me."
I think we need to complete the trial to find out what they're planning.
"My father always says, 'the rabble face death every day, while the brave always find a way to defeat it.'
I've never been exactly sure what he meant, but I think I know now."
You don't have to do this.
"Yes. Yes, I do. This is what I came here for. This is my time to shine.
Besides, you're here with me. We'll watch each other's back and come out victorious in the end."

Once you've chosen your blessing with Elder Akarah, Talviah will say:

Talviah Aliaria: "Oh, this is going to be a day at the fair."
"This place is as scary as it is impressive. I suppose we need to get back in there.
You go first."

Complete the task of the four switches and Talviah will be right behind you:

Talviah Aliaria: "It was tough, but we made it! I knew we could do it!"
"You did great back there. I have to say, I'm impressed!
Just give me a moment to catch my breath. It might be an illusion, but I'm sweating like an Orc under here."
At least we both survived.
"We did, didn't we? I'm pretty sure that was because the Vosh Rakh were busy trying to deal with you.
I'm beginning to understand why Eveli admires you so much."
I suppose we have to go in there next.
"The council, right. I wonder what they're going to ask us to do as our final test?
Whatever it is, we can't hesitate. Lives are depending on us. We need to find out as much as we can about this "sacred" mission they keep going on and on about."

Enter the final chamber and the Vosh Rakh Taskmasters will give you your final task:

Talviah Aliaria: "Hey, my amulet stopped working! And did they just say something about spilling my blood?"
Talviah Aliaria: "Oh my! You're not considering following through with this, are you? That's … that's insane!"

Talviah Aliaria (hostile)

As Talviah suspected, the Vosh Rakh demand that you sacrifice your friend in order to join their cause. At this point Talviah becomes neutral and you cannot speak to him. If you agree you will have to defeat him in combat. As soon as you strike, he turns hostile.

If you decide to take on the taskmasters and spare Talvaiah he will have cast a barrier spell on the entrance. If you speak to him before finding out what the Vosh Rakh are planning, he'll say:

"Look around and see if there's anything you can find. We can't let all of this be for nothing."

If you talk to him again after reading the Vosh Rakh Orders, he'll say the following:

"I'll stay here and ward the doors so the cultists don't follow you.
Go find the others and tell them about the danger facing the moot. Anyone could be a Vosh Rakh, which is going to make it hard to spot them before they strike. Go! I'll be fine."

Blood on a King's HandsEdit

If you spared Talvaiah you'll find him in the Temple of Ire after High Priestess Solgra is shot by an assassin:

"This was just an adventure until now.
We were strong, fearless. But to lose one of our own … I don't know if I can handle this."

Speak to him before going in to face Kurog:

"Good luck, my friend.
I'll remain here to protect the priests, as Chief Bazrag requested. I'll look forward to hearing how you beat the mad king when you return."

Long Live the KingEdit

Look for him to invite him to the funeral and he'll be in Mazabakh's House:

"I'm glad you're here. Saves me the trouble of finding you. Before I return to the Summerset Isles, I wanted to thank you for not killing me back at the Vosh Rakh temple.
I appreciate that. I think I would have found death to be very boring."
Not everyone survived.
"The high priestess was an inspiration. Her legacy will live on, in our memories and in the memories of everyone in Orsinium.
As hard as it is to accept, the simple truth is that you can't save everyone. You just have to try."
Before you go, Chief Bazrag wanted me to give you this.
"What's this? A funeral? And I'm invited? Splendid! That will give me a chance to say my farewells to everyone all at the same time.
Still, a funeral for that mad despot? I hope Chief Bazrag knows what he's doing."

Speak to him again and his old pessimistic personality shows through:

"I assume this funeral thing isn't really a trap, is it? I'd hate to show up in my finest outfit just to have someone try to kill me again.
Too soon? I know, I know. I shouldn't make jokes at a time like this, but it helps keep my mood light."

The FuneralEdit

Make your way to the Castle Overlook:

"He turned me into a messenger when I first arrived, but I never suspected the king was a villain.
I guess no one is above greed and corruption."

After Bazrag's speech:

"Another king? These Orcs just don't learn their lesson, do they?
Ah, well. I suppose Bazrag won't be as bad as Kurog. He couldn't be. At least, I hope he'll do a good job."

Back in the keep, you'll hear:

Talviah Aliaria: "Will you return to Black Marsh, my friend? Or do you have another destination in mind?"
Flies-In-Wind: "As long as it's not here, I'll go wherever the current takes me."

Speak to him:

"As soon as I finish this drink, it's back to the Summerset Isles for me. I have so many tales to tell my family.
Just imagine, a scribe who helped crown a new Orc king. My sister will never believe it!"
Have you accomplished what you wanted to here?
"I survived battles with the Winterborn. Helped take down a tyrant king and a horrible cult. And here I am, drinking and talking to you.
I think that's somewhat impressive, if I do say so myself. Perhaps I'll finally get the respect I deserve."
