Detailed WalkthroughEdit
Speak to Glirion the Redbeard to get the details of this quest.
- What's the pledge today?
- "Volenfell. A newly-discovered Dwemer ruin. Bold treasure hunters vie to be the first to explore its halls. Would you be outdone by them?"
- And if I seek a greater challenge?
- "Then invoke the Scroll of Glorious Battle before you face what mechanized guardians must surely watch over the place. Should you prevail, we will know you are Undaunted."
- I pledge to explore Volenfell and return Undaunted.
Once you have accepted the quest, you can enter Volenfell either by accessing the dungeon through the Dungeon Finder, or heading to the Alik'r Desert and entering the dungeon from there with a group. You have the choice of entering the normal dungeon or the veteran version, this choice will affect if you can complete the optional step and your rewards.
When inside the dungeon, you will need to progress through the dungeon, slaying the following bosses, Quintus Verres, Tremorscale and the Guardian Council. With the last boss fight, if you are in the veteran dungeon, you have the option of completing the optional task of activating the Scroll of Glorious Battle to put the boss in hard mode.
Once you have completed the task, you can return to Glirion the Redbeard at any of the Undaunted Enclaves, and speak with him to complete the quest:
- "Have you returned from your expedition with more to show than dust and dirt?"
- Yes. I've explored Volenfell.
- "And was it an empty place, of interest only to scholars and bored children? Or was it filled with deadly traps and hostile constructs?"
- It was a treacherous place with death around every corner. / I've come to claim my prize for exploring Volenfell.
Condition | Dialogue |
---|---|
Normal mode completed | "Then take what you are owed. Use it for the betterment of all that walk the surface. And return to me tomorrow, to see what cavern you will plumb next." |
Veteran mode completed | "Excellent. Take what you are owed. Enjoy your cut of the wealth. And return to me tomorrow. What else will need to be reduced to scrap then?" |
Veteran Hard Mode completed | "You are owed more than respect. Being the first to set foot in the ancient earth takes mettle. To survive its unknown dangers takes skill. You have both. Add your key and your cut to your new found treasures. Tomorrow you may face uncertainty again." |

- Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
- Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in any order. Some stages may therefore repeat objectives seen in other stages.
