Unable to Sit

(moved from the article)

After completing the entire KotN questline your character will no longer be able to sit down, instead they will be stuck standing for a moment then stuck sitting down afterwards which can last up to 2 real time minutes leaving you only able to control the camera making you unable to stand up however after a moment or so you will regain control and be able to stand up again.

This is almost certainly a one-off specific to the poster's game. Certainly I've never had this problem and nobody else has reported it either. –RpehTCE 06:11, 30 October 2008 (EDT)

it happend to me but it was because in garlas malatar i accidentily sap on the throne while trying to open a chest behind it and while i atempting to sit the aurrans killed me so that might be one cause but i hav no idea if it the only one-LuciusZelgius
Actually my character won't sit down either. She acts just as described above. I am uncertain if it started after the KotN questline. I first noticed it after I jumped into the Elder Council room in the center of the Imperial Palace where there is a large table with red "throne-like" chairs and Ocato was sitting in one of the chairs. I sat in a chair then got up and haven't been able to sit since. What is strange is that I was just curious what was down there and reloaded my game to a point before jumping down onto the table but my character still couldn't sit down. I've always assumed it's because she's a High Elf. She sits on her horse higher than my husband's character which is an Imperial. High Elfs are taller than everyone else. Arctic Frost 03:29, 13 February 2009 (EST)
In fact, this is not a one-off glitch, but a well-documented glitch that happens at the end of the last quest, and is fully described under that quest's bugs. I'll add a link to this article and the glitches page given that it's clearly a problem where it's not clear to people that it's being caused by that quest. --NepheleTalk 10:44, 13 February 2009 (EST)

Spells and enchantments

Does anyone else think that the spells and enchantments provided by undercroft and wearing the armor should have their own page? Possibly, Oblivion: Knights of the Nine Magic? — Unsigned comment by Gadianzero (talkcontribs) on 31 December 2008

Question

When you say "A medium <insert type of dungeon here> (fort, cave, etc.)", are you referring to the size of the dungeon or the difficulty? If you are referring to the size, maybe we could clarify it by making the sentence, "A medium-sized <insert type of dungeon here>" instead of what is currently written to specify that it is the size and not the difficulty that you are talking about. Cheers, Razorflame 09:59, 7 May 2009 (EDT)

It's explained here. –RpehTCE 08:55, 10 May 2009 (EDT)

Uh...

"The character involved must be and remain a verified saint. Otherwise, you don't get to use the loot. On the other hand, your deeds will probably be remembered in the lore of future Elder Scrolls games."

I understand the first two sentences but... what's up with the last? I know what the Elder Scrolls are but... what does that sentence have to do with anything In-Game. - Some Guy From Some Where

Agreed. We have no way of knowing what's coming in future games and if they'll ever make reference to a Knight of the Nine at all. It's probably inappropriate for a Note in any event, so I removed it. --Robin Hood (TalkE-mailContribs) 17:46, 1 June 2009 (EDT)

i didnt find the knight guy with his redguard friend following him

its strange becouse in all of my charicter i've seen those two near the bravil wayshrine but on my latest charicter i havent. im not shure if this will effect the game or not though.

Sir Roderic travels to all of the wayshrines. I've done the KotN quest many times and I've only run into him once during his Pilgrimage. P.S. His redguard friend is his squire Lathon. (Gadianzero 17:55, 2 June 2009 (EDT))

Holy Relics

If someone attacks ME first can i kill them without having to walk the pilgrims way again? — Unsigned comment by 84.71.164.212 (talk) on August 7, 2009 at 13:14

No, you don't have to walk the path again if they attack you first. The problem is that in Oblivion, it is much more difficult to make a non-hostile NPC attack you without doing something illeagal first. If you can get them to attack you first though, you can kill them without an infamy boost because you acted in self-defense, which is not a crime. -Dlarsh(Talk,Contribs) 20:09, 7 August 2009 (UTC)

Pilgrim's Grace and Pilgrimage not exclusively part of KotN?

I have recently bought but not yet installed the Knights of the Nine plugin. However, I have had Shivering Isles installed for a long time. During my journey through Cyrodiil I have encountered many wayshrines and have activated all of those I have found. For some reason, when I activated the last one (or most likely the last one), I recieved a greater power with the name Pilgrim's Grace. I never recieved a quest of any kind but still gained a power called Pilgrim's Grace and a message saying I have completed the Pilgrimage. When checking with my completed quests history there is no quest completed with the name Pilgrimage. Is anyone else familiar with this? Was this part of the original Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion, or was it hidden in the Shivering Isles expansion? I'm surprised no one else have mentioned this anywhere on this site.

Pilgrim's Grace (see second bullet in Notes section) is an unmarked quest that's part of the base game, not any of the expansions. —Robin Hood (TalkE-mailContribs) 20:36, 22 September 2009 (UTC)

Seems like I didn't notice the transition between original game and KotN in the notes section. Thanks! Does this mean I can get the greater power again by doing the pilgrimage all over again if I install the plugin? Or will there be no quest updates at all?

You can't get a greater power twice, so no. If you already have it, it'll remain unchanged; if you don't, then you'll get it...though I seem to remember you have to do all the shrines all over again to get it after KotN...you might wanna double-check that, though, I'm not 100% sure. —Robin Hood (TalkE-mailContribs) 07:33, 23 September 2009 (UTC)

I remember something stating if you activate a way shrine and activate Pilgrim's Grace, you can skip the Pilgrimage quest.

Your the Divine Crusader!

An odd error has crept in in my game, people shouting 'Your the Divine Crusader!', at each other, mostly bandits to other bandits. Has this happened to anyone else?

Yes! This happens in my games as well (PS3, GOTY). It's always a bit creepy to hear when one is sneaking or invisible. I can't say for sure if it's always the same race of NPC who says this, but it seems like it's any of the elf voices done by Craig Sechler (Oblivion:Voice_Actors). I just heard it yesterday when sneaking around the Heretic dungeon of Fain and I'm sure I've heard Bosmer bandits say that as well. Oblivoid 01:41, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
Also heard "Hail Sir Knight!" from a guard while I was sneak-training near the Skingrad East Gate. I was 100% chameleoned and the sneak eye showed that I was undetected, but nonetheless at one point a guard blurted that out. Perhaps it's an anomaly or unexpected behavior with Detection. Oblivoid 19:19, 16 January 2010 (UTC)

Can't even get the 1st quest.

Okay, this is right after you hear the rumors, go to anvil, talk to some guards. So I walk up to the crazy prophet, and he tells me about the Nine and Tiber Septim and Unamril and whatever, right? Then, after that, you would get the quest telling you to go talk to the CP (crazy prophet) again about some relics.

Thing is, I can't get the quest! I walk up to him (again), and then there is 1 option you can choose from, ask about Tiber Septim. I ask him about that. And he gives me useless info. Then there's still no new quest. So I try walking up to him again several times. After a few times, finally another option pops up. That is the option of "Umaril". I ask him about Umaril, and once again, get useless info.

Does anybody else get this or just me?

BTW, I'm on the Game of the Year Edition and it's on the PC.

Sounds odd. You should be able to trigger the quest, no matter what - you don't even have to talk to anyone else but the prophet to get the Pilgrimage quest. And if you get the rumors, then your game shouldn't be bugged in any way. Do you have any mods running? Krusty 11:14, 13 November 2009 (UTC)

I had this problem not to long ago, I just completed all the quests I had not finished and returned, that fixed it for me. But it happend on the ps3 for me, on GOTY version

you could also walk up to the guard near the chapel because you get a quest update when you go up to him. Secret Chief 22:14, 7 January 2011 (UTC)

Glitch or...?

Well, before even finishing Oblivion, I did the Pilgrimage and got the Pilgrim's Grace Greater Power. When I went to do the Pilgrimage for the KOTN quest line, the first Wayshrine I activated resulted in my being told that I had completed the Pilgrimage. The only problem now is that I cannot pray at some of the chapel altars now. I had to re-do the Pilgrimage at one point after failed Kynareth's test a few times. So this would mean that I can use the chapel altar's - but I can't.

What shall I do? — Unsigned comment by Daedric Crayons (talkcontribs) on 20 November 2009

Try praying at a single wayshrine that is not on the wayshrine map and seeing if you can get a blessing from just that single god. If that doesn't work I am sure the Unofficial Patch fixes it (if your on PC Version). I had this same problem but it sorted itself out eventully. --Kri-Dar 11:21, 21 November 2009 (UTC)

Disabling/Re-enabling KotN on X-Box 360?

If I have finished Knights of the Nine on 360, but have noticed a bug (ie: blacksmith not appearing) and want to disable the plug-in and do it again to get him, is my saved game at risk? For example, say my game so far (with completed KotN storyline) is save #50. Then I go out and disable KotN, load save #50 and resave it as save #51. After, when I go and re-enable the plug-in, will save #50 be just like I left it (with KotN completed) or will it also be altered? Will save #51 be the same (without KotN completed)? Also, are there any other bugs associated with doing this process? — Unsigned comment by 174.88.16.67 (talk) on 21 December 2009

It will stay the same as if you had completed the entire questline. --MC S'drassa T2M 20:07, 21 December 2009 (UTC)

Where do I go and what do I do to disable the Knights of the Bine plug-in on Xbox 360?— Unsigned comment by 74.198.28.212 (talk) on 22 December 2009

Go to system settings and enter the memory, enter into games and find Oblivion. Open it and look for the plug-in, select it and delete it. You can dowload it again or install it from the GOTY edition if you regret it later, though. --MC S'drassa T2M 21:13, 22 December 2009 (UTC)

Removed Bug- shrine of Arkay being replaced

  • Sometimes the Shrine of Arkay will be replaced with a Shrine of Zenithar.

Removed this from the article. nothing to suggest it is likely. Also by the use of the word "the" I assume it is just a matter of the inaccuracy of the prophets map.--RhomphaiaTC 13:32, 24 December 2009 (UTC)

Actually it has been reported that this can happen recently, see here. --MC S'drassa T2M 15:18, 24 December 2009 (UTC)
I'm taking this off again. There is nothing in the CS to suggest that this is possible. My own opinion is that people are missing the shrine of Arkay and finding the Zenithar shrine near Kvatch instead. The Wayshrines Map isn't particularly accurate, and it's not too far to the other one: Map. rpeh •TCE 16:58, 9 February 2010 (UTC)

mace of the crusader mod conflict

i've found a conflict between wielding the mace of the crusader and the Skill Diary mod - equipping the item appears to erases all skill gains in the current level, and thereafter not record them correctly. if i remove the mace, it shows strength at -10 so i *think* it might be something to do with me having blunt as a major skill. no problems with using any of the other relics. 79.73.118.161 11:25, 12 January 2010 (UTC)

We only document the official plug-ins here, except for a select few in the mod namespaces. This would be something to bring up at a third-party mod site, perhaps one related to the mod. --GKtalk2me 01:05, 13 January 2010 (UTC)

Questions about Knights of the Nine and Shivering Isles

I have the Game of the Year Edition of oblivion (xbox 360) ~ Knights of Nine & Shivering Isles installed

i beat main questline for Oblivion (played for 89 in-game hours)

Factions I'm in - Brother ~ Order of the Virtuous Blood Arch-Mage ~ Mages Guild Knight Brother ~ Blades Fame ~ 60 Infamy ~ 2

My first question is ~ i looked all over different cities for past 2 weeks for rumour of chapel of dibella attack & and have not found the rumour yet .... So, what do I do or did I do something wrong  ?!?!

And my 2nd Question is ~ I haven't gotten the Quest - A Door in Niben Bay .... did I do something Else wrong  ?!?!?! — Unsigned comment by 142.22.186.13 (talk) on 4 March 2010

first question- it doesn't matter if you hear the rumor, that just gets you a head-start on the quest. Just go to the chapel of dibella in anvil, and speak to the prophet out in front.
Second question- you need to wait for 24 hours before the quest starts, if not go out in to the bravil stables and swim out to the middle of the lake near it, a marker should show on your little map thing at the bottom of the screen before you find it. — Unsigned comment by Arch-Mage Matt (talkcontribs) on 7 March 2010
If this still doesn't work, you haven't installed the two plug-ins correctly. --SerCenKing Talk 10:21, 7 March 2010 (UTC)
I did install Disc 2 for the X-Box 360 Version of ~ Oblivion : Game of the Year Edition.
There is no Prophet in Anvil & still didn't find the rumor. Also, can't find the doorway to the Shivering Isles in the Bay near Bravil.
So, I must be doing something wrong in the Game ......
the same thing happened to my game as well, also i uninstalled and reinstalled and such but still it dosent work at all, so this has happened multiple times
I had the same problem. I'm not sure what part, or if all of these steps was needed to fix it, but here is what I did. Here's what finally fixed it!!!
Step 1 Uninstall the Knights and Shivering Isles from the hard drive.
Step 2 Go to the systems menu, bring up the games page so it displayes the Hard Drive Title, instead of clicking on through to look at the games, hit "Y" and then "clear the cache"
Step 3 Connect to Xbox Live with NO game in the box. Make sure you are at least a Silver member. If not, go through the steps to Join Xbox Live (I had to do this just for this sole purpose. I had never connected before!)You may have to accept some other updates the first time you connect.
Step 4 Insert the Oblivion Disc or Disc 1 of the GOTY edition. Hopefully you will get an instant messgae reporting you have an update for this game. Accept the update.
Step 5 Reinstall the Shivering Isles and Knights of Nine
Step 6 Put the Oblivion disc back in - follow the usualt instructions, wait 24 game hours etc...and the extras should be working!
I really hope this helps. It has taken me forever to get this to work. I think the main problem is I don't use Xbox Live on a regular basis or it might have fixed itslef! It kind of makes me mad that the the quality of games has gone soooo downhill, since now if there is a problem, they just issue a patch. They don't have to do such extensive checking beforehand to make sure everthing works.

() correct me if i am wrong but didnt you say you had game of the year edition, if so then it already has KotN and SI installed and that may be why it isnt workingSecret Chief 22:22, 7 January 2011 (UTC)

There's no console command to repair items in someone's inventory. You can, however, first remove the broken items with removeitem and add new ones in place. equipitem can make sure they will start wearing the new items. --Timenn-<talk> 23:22, 22 March 2010 (UTC)

Quest bug?

Can't ask the knights to follow me anymore

I'm not sure how I triggered this bug, but now whenever I speak to any of the knights, named or otherwise, the "follow me" dialogue option no longer appears. I previously resurrected the knights that died in the end mission, but had their generic replacements follow me. This led to a glitch where the resurrected knights (in normal clothing) and their replacements followed me, so I used the "kill" console command to kill off the knights again. Everything seemed normal until my generic knight follower randomly disappeared when she was following me. I found her back at the priory, but now I can't ask her or any other knights to come with me.

Anyone else had this problem or know how to fix it?

This seems like a rare glitch that I had too, the first day I got KoTN I finished it and I encountered this. It might be possible that you've acquired a bounty or an infamy point. At this point, in my experience, the Knights won't follow you. Check your Infamy and Fame, if you have an Infamy Point, I suggest you make a Pilgrimage around the Wayshrines again to clear your Infamy. If you don't have an Infamy point have you tried using the "kill" console command to kill the generic knight follower so she'll respawn again. If this occurs, it was most likely just a very rare glitch. Hope I helped!--Septim-Slasher

Quests Disappeared

I had my oblivion saved files along with all of the official plug ins on an old x box hard drive. After my xbox broke i used memory cards to transfer my entire profile along with all of the oblivion saved files and the plug ins to a new xbox (the new version with the internal hard drive). On my former xbox I was already part way through the knights of the nine quest line, just before acquiring the gauntlets to be exact(having delayed because of the curse). When I went back to finish off the quest line every character added by the plug in was missing their quest associated dialogues, and the quest series has disappeared from my quest list (along with all previously completed quests before having moved my files). I have not experienced this problem with any other plug in (ie. horse armor is still available). Anyone know a way to recover the quest line? It doesn't matter to me if I have to do the entire thing over again however I'd prefer not to pay the money again.

i have a simalare problem...but the preist from the temple where you get the guntlets from will follow me and will not stop following me but hes not wearing armore and none of the others that i let join are as well...also none of the knights will follow me anyone know how to solve it?
First off, please sign your comments with four tildes (these ~). On to your question. It seems that the game has corrupted, whenever this happened to me I just popped in my expansion disc, if it asks to perform an update let it. If that doesn't work I would delete the KotN from your hard drive and reinstall. However reading the end of your post it seems you sold the expansion pack disc, so you are SOL.
On to the second unsigned comment just talk to him and ask him to return to his duties, that atta do it. Unless you revived him with the console after you had him follow you, and he died. Killing him should work, but I'm not sure what to do if that doesn't. Alpha Kenny Buddy 04:03, 1 January 2011 (UTC)
Edit found a note on the bugs section that might answer your question second unsigned comment guy;

It is possible for one of the Knights of the Nine to be stuck permanently following your character if you ask them to follow you at the wrong point in time. Since the knights subject to this bug will also be essential when the bug is triggered, it is impossible to ever get rid of them. The bug occurs if you do the following: 1. Complete the entire quest line (up to the point where Umaril is killed) without recruiting all nine knights. 2. During Sir Thedret's speech at the end of the Umaril the Unfeathered quest, you approach an unrecruited knight, and at that time simultaneously recruit the knight and ask him to follow you.

To avoid this problem, be sure to recruit the knights either before or after Thedret's speech, and do not ask a knight to follow you immediately after recruiting them.

Once the bug has been triggered, it is not normally possible (other than using the Console) to make the NPC stop following you. Alpha Kenny Buddy 04:08, 1 January 2011 (UTC)

Notes Overhaul.

I've decided to overhaul the notes section because it was rather large and filled with information that was slightly opinionated, informal and mostly just focused on the relics and not the plug-in as a whole. Most is mentioned in the same detail in the Oblivion:Knights_of_the_Nine_Items page.

The following was omitted:

  • This plug-in seemingly is intended for the Crusader class, or similar types with emphasis on heavy combat and restoration magic.
  • The character involved must be and remain a verified saint. Otherwise, you don't get to use the loot.
  • The whole point of the plug-in is to acquire a full set of armor and weapons (the Relics). These Relics have powers far beyond their base stats (be sure to read the Items section above). In summary:
      • All are good items for their basic stats.
      • The Relics can be leveled up to keep pace with your character, so you really never need to replace them. Besides, this avoids the embarrassment of selling these holy artifacts once you've outgrown them. This is done on the display stand in the basement of the Priory of the Nine.
      • The display stand also fully repairs and recharges the Relics, so you don't have to spend any money on that, either.
      • The above features remove much of the money-grubbing pressure from your character, allowing you to just have fun without worrying about getting every last arrow back to town to sell.
      • The Relics give you a bunch of Lesser Powers that allow you to act like a real saint. You can buff and heal others at a ridiculously low magicka cost, for instance.
      • Completion of the quest line (as in acquiring all the relics) makes you a faction head with your own guild hall (Priory of the Nine) and private army of NPCs who will fight with you (1 at a time). Part of the deal is your own chapel with functioning altar. You also get a smith to repair non-Relic items, although he charges normal rates for this.
      • Wearing the Relics gives your character a huge boost in the restoration skill.

These note have been reworded and left in:

  • It's best to begin this plug-in with a new character, because the loot will last a lifetime (see below).
  • You can only equip the Relics if your Infamy is 1 or less. If your Infamy ever reaches 2 or more, you must repeat the Pilgrimage to a Wayshrine of every deity. This resets your Infamy to 0, allowing you to use the Relics again.
  • If your infamy rises above zero after completing the questline, people you talk to will sometimes say: "I used to think you were a hero. A holy knight and all that. I guess I should have known better" or "I used to admire you. But it turns out you're just a sinner like all the rest of us."
  • Items and effects that temporarily increase your Infamy have the same effect. For example, the relics will not equip when the Gray Cowl of Nocturnal is equipped.

Any thoughts? RaidensTechSupp 11:15, 7 February 2011 (UTC)

Looks good to me. These notes have a habit of multiplying and getting out of control. It's good to see them pruned. rpeh •TCE 12:30, 7 February 2011 (UTC)
My honest opinion; no matter how much we clean up this page, it will always be a mess - ditto all the quest and NPC-pages related to this plug-in. I really wish we had a separate namespace for this plug-in. Reading through this old discussion, I disagree with each and every point being made - and here, three years after, with projects like the OBNPCRP and OPRP, we really should revisit that discussion and hopefully make the right decision this time 'round, --Krusty 00:45, 9 February 2011 (UTC)
Things have moved on since that discussion. We could now create a sub-space - like the The Infernal City, Tamriel Rebuilt and Stirk ones. All that requires at first is to add a line to MediaWiki:Uespnamespacelist, then to move some pages around and tweak some other bits and bobs. We'd end up with pages like Oblivion:Knights of the Nine/The Prophet or Oblivion:KotN/The Prophet or whatever.
I'm still not convinced that it's the right way to go as there doesn't seem to be enough content, but using a sub-space would be better than creating a full namespace. rpeh •TCE 11:30, 9 February 2011 (UTC)
While I'm unsure as well about the amount of content, I have a feeling it can only get better than what we have now. A sub-space would be the way to go, mostly because we'll avoid people complaining about giving a plug-in a whole namespace. Of course, it will (as far as I can tell) be an awful lot of moving-around-work and a whole new main page for KotN will have to be designed, but in the long run, our coverage of the KotN will be much more organized, even if pages like "Places" will be a tad short. I'm for it. :) --Krusty 11:43, 9 February 2011 (UTC)

Is this a glitch?

I recently recieved an e-mail from someone asking me about the Crusaders Armour, They say they have 0 Infamy, and have walked the Pilgrims Way 3 times, But still can't wear the armour, Suggestions on what to do?

Are they sure it isn't broken? If it has the little red symbol in the bottom left corner of it's inventory icon, this means it's broken and cannot be equipped although no error message will be displayed. Simply tell them to go to the Priory of the Nine and go into the basement then into the Undercroft, opposite is a rack for placing armour. When it is placed it should repair all the armour automatically.--Septim-Slasher

At the end of the Quest line, do your guild mates (other Nights of the Nine) level with you or not?

Sorry if this had been covered. If so, I missed it. I'd like to have one follow me around sometimes after the quest line is complete, but my fear is that if I run through the quest early, my followers will be too weak to be any good.

Thanks in advance for any responses! 79.234.152.226 10:27, 10 March 2011 (UTC)

Yes. If you look at pages like Sir Thedret's, you'll see the "Level" stat in the infobox. The "PC+1" means your level plus one. Replacements are typically PC-1, meaning they're three levels lower than you. rpeh •TCE 11:05, 10 March 2011 (UTC)
Thanks very much for the response! I should have thought to check the individual pages myself. — Unsigned comment by 79.234.152.226 (talk) on 10 March 2011

Marketplace Price

An anonymous IP changed the Xbox Marketplace price from 800 Microsoft Points to 400. Can someone with a 360 confirm or disprove this? Legoless 14:22, 28 May 2011 (UTC)

Knights of the Nine is currently 400 microsoft points due to deal of the week. mxk101Talk 14:32, 28 May 2011 (UTC)
Note that only Gold users can access the deal of the week. For anyone with only a Silver it will still be 800. I'm not sure if this should be noted though, as it is only temporary... --DKong27 Talk Cont 14:37, 28 May 2011 (UTC)
Maybe we could mention it here, as well as in the latest news section. But, like DKong said, it's only temporary and only for "Gold" users, so the base price on the main article shouldn't be changed. I'm reverting. Legoless 14:44, 28 May 2011 (UTC)
I found out about this "deal of the week" through my dashboard's ads a few days ago, so it's not exactly news for people with xbox live gold. Its ALSO for the Shivering Isles and Horse Armor and some other bethesda stuff so this is the opportunity for people who don't have those to get them and save a lot of MS points.
