Nileno Dorvayn

Nileno Dorvayn at the Hlaalu Council Manor in Balmora keeps the Hlaalu business going while the Councilors are away. However, no Hlaalu Councilors actually reside in Balmora. Dorvayn is nevertheless one of the essential House Hlaalu quest givers.

She offers major training in Short Blade, medium training in Light Armor and Security, and a supply of master level thieves' tools for sale, whether or not you are a member of the House. She is the most advanced trainer for Security for characters that are not members of the Thieves Guild or are insufficient rank to receive training from Hecerinde.

Dorvayn wears a common robe, cloth bracers, and netch leather boots. She wields a steel jinkblade of the aegis and carries a small key.

Aside from Dorvayn's natural resistance to fire and the sanctuary provided by her ancestors, she knows no spells.

Main QuestEdit

House HlaaluEdit

  • Greetings:
    • "I am Nileno Dorvayn. I keep business going here in Balmora while the Hlaalu Councilors are away. Which is most of the time."
    • "What business brings you here today, %PCName?"

  • business:
    • "If you want to talk business, you've come to the right place. Do you want to join House Hlaalu?"
  • Crassius Curio: "He can be very eccentric at times. But his... weaknesses allow him to be manipulated. He lives in the Hlaalu Plaza in Vivec."
  • Dram Bero: "I think he lives somewhere in Vivec."
  • Ebonheart: "Ebonheart is south of Pelagiad, between Vivec and Seyda Neen. Take the road south to Pelagiad, then continue the road towards Vivec. Keep an eye on the signposts, and you shouldn't have any trouble reaching Ebonheart."
  • Hlaalu councilors:
    • [Yellow Book of 3E 426 has been added to your inventory.] "Here's a recent edition of the Yellow Book of Great House Hlaalu. It lists the current Hlaalu councilors and their residences. I might tell you more for a small consideration." OR "You should consult the recent edition of the Yellow Book of Great House Hlaalu. It lists the current Hlaalu councilors and their residences."
      • Bribe her 50 drakes.
        • [Disposition -10.] "Get some coins in your pocket and come see me again. Otherwise, I'll have to report you for trying to bribe a ranking member of House Hlaalu."
        • [Disposition +10. 50 Gold has been removed from your inventory.] "The one you should speak with is Crassius Curio. His manor is in the Hlaalu Plaza in Vivec. Of the Hlaalu Councilors, he is one most likely to listen to your requests, whatever they may be."
    • "As I said, Crassius Curio is the most open minded of the Hlaalu Councilors, though somewhat eccentric. If you get lost, consult a recent edition of the Yellow Book."
      • Nevermind. "Very well."
  • House Hlaalu:
    • "The Hlaalu councilors have conferred upon me the great honor of interviewing those who wish to become members of our illustrious house. Do you want to join House Hlaalu?"
  • join House Hlaalu:
    • "Yes, you are a worthy candidate, and we accept anyone who wants to join, even outlanders. Are you interested in joining?"
      • Yes. [Disposition +9.] "Very well. You are now a member of House Hlaalu. When you are ready, we can discuss business and advancement in House Hlaalu."
    • "You already belong to House Hlaalu."
      • No, nevermind. "You could do very well in House Hlaalu. If you change your mind, let me know."
  • Suran: "It's a busy port on the north shore of Lake Masobi, in the northwest corner of the Ascadian Isles. You can get there by going east from Pelagiad and around the north side of the Dren Plantation, following the roads east until you reach Suran. You can also take a Silt Strider there from Molag Mar or Vivec."
  • Velanda Omani: "Omani Manor is on an island east of Vivec. You can get there by following the road east of Vivec, then south past Ald Sotha, but it might be easier to just swim there from Vivec."

Quest-Related DialogueEdit

"What business brings you here today, %PCName?"

  • business:
  • "Just a minute, %PCName. Say that again."
  • say that again:
  • "How fortunate! Your voice sounds almost like the Redoran Felsen Sethandus who died... um, just recently. Would you be willing to disguise yourself as Felsen Sethandus and get orders from House Redoran, then deliver the orders to me?"
    • Yes.:
      • "Good. Take this helm and speak with Neminda at the Redoran Council. Take a silt strider to Ald'ruhn, then look under Skar. When she asks what you want, say you are an orphan of Arnesia. Neminda should give you a coded message to deliver. Bring that coded message to me instead."
      • Felsen Sethandus:
      • "Falsen Sethandus was disfigured in battle and known for always wearing his helm in public. That's the only reason I'd ask you to try and fool Neminda. When you talk with her, make sure you wear the helm I have you."
      • orphan of Arnesia:
      • "Yes, that is the code phrase you should use when you speak with Neminda. Make sure you wear the helm I gave you."
      • business:
      • "Like I said, wear Felsen Sethandus' helm and use the phrase "orphan of Arnesia" with Neminda in Ald'ruhn."
      • say that again:
      • "You don't need to say it again."
    • No, too busy.:
      • "I expected better of you. Perhaps you don't deserve the title of Hireling."

After you obtained the orders:

  • "Do you have a copy of Neminda's orders? Remember the code phrase is "Orphan of Arnesia."
  • Orphan of Arnesia:
  • "Did you get the orders from Neminda?"
    • Yes, here it is.:
      • "Yes, this is exactly what I wanted. Good work, %PCName. Keep the helm, and take these 500 drakes for a job well done."
    • No, not yet.:
      • "Then go speak with Neminda and bring me the orders she gives you."

  • Dorvayn is not listed as essential, but her death will make joining House Hlaalu impossible, and block a great many House Hlaalu quests even if you are already a member.
  • Dorvayn is a perfect example of the way House Hlaalu values ambition, cunning, and making money over all else; more than once she sends you on a quest that can be resolved by simply bribing someone, and once she directs you to destroy a business owned by one of her rivals.
  • Nileno Dorvayn also appears as two cards in the Legends card expansion, the Houses of Morrowind. One depicts her plotting, another depicts her in reference to the quest, Disguise.
