An Auridon Paladin (Legends)

Paladins as a term varies in meaning throughout Tamriel, which depending on usage, can been seen through a lens that is religious, knightly, or militant in nature.

In the Iliac Bay, a paladin is the highest rank one can achieve within a knightly order.[1] The Breton artifact Chrysamere is considered a holy weapon, and in that context it's referred to as the Sword of the Paladin, or simply the Paladin's Blade.[2] Paladins from Daggerfall were able to accomplish creating armor sets surpassing ebony armor in quality[3] with rubedite, a red material. The process starts with enchanted armor that was created with metalworking tools blessed by Akatosh and Zenithar. This armor was then coated with a rubedite metal enamel, and then tempered with captured dragonflame.[4] The founder of the Cyrodiilic knightly order, the Order of the Hour, had his own enchanted set of armor known as the Paladin's Mail.[5][6]

The Jephrine Paladins are an Altmeri militant order of followers of Jephre. Their attire is inspired by Indriks,[7] creatures that bear a relation to their patron deity.[8] They are known to be the protectors of the wild.[7] Auridon Paladins were an Altmeri militant order known for their elite warriors and mages. They were known for their high-quality training, amazing willpower, fighting skills, and reliability. The main objective of the Auridon Paladins was to defend the isle of Auridon, the gateway in and out of the Summerset Isles from the threat of the ambitious outsiders and to stop the rebel factions of the native High Elves from disturbing the order and peace.[9]

Located in what is now known as the Forgotten Vale, the Great Chantry of Auri-El was centered around the worship of the eponymous god,[10] and the Knight-Paladins of Auri-El were sworn to protect it and what it represents.[11] Paladins alongside prelates assisted Arch-Curate Vyrthur in his endeavor of ruling over the vale.[10]:995 Following the disappearance of the Dwarves in 1E 700, the Betrayed somehow spread to the vale and began attacking the Chantry. Knight-Paladin Gelebor led a small groups of paladins to defend the Chantry, but they were overwhelmed by their sheer numbers, and the final bastion of Snow Elves was wiped out with only Gelebor as the survivor. When the Last Dragonborn and Serana went to the Vale in search of Auriel's Bow in 4E 201, Gelebor agreed to help, but first demanded that they kill Vyrthur who had contracted Vampirism. After the deed was done, he helped them with the bow and stayed in the Inner Sanctum of the Chantry, determined to continue his service to Auri-El for the rest of his days.[11][12]
