Jode's Light (alternatively known as "Ja'zennji Siir" in Ta'agra)[1] is a ruined temple located on the borderlands of Reaper's March, in the province of Elsweyr. Named after the larger moon, Jode, the temple was founded as a sanctum and safe haven for every monk and acolyte, no matter the furstock or background they come from.[2]

HistoryEdit

Jode's Light was founded sometime in the mid-First Era by the Moon-Bishop, Thizzrini.[2] As a node to the ancient Khajiiti queen, Anequina Sharp-Tongue, who basked in Jode's moonlight.[3] The temple kept one of the triangular pieces that could decipher the map on the Wrathstone in their Full Moons Chamber.[4] The temple was eventually abandoned when the Thrassian Plague created countless casualties in 1E 2200.[2]

Sometime later, the temple was re-populated and became active but once again fell to ruin when the Colovian Estates invaded Reaper's March in 2E 582. The ruins became infested by thunderbugs, giant bats, the Rotblood Tribe of goblins and rumored to have been haunted. In that same year, a Khajiiti local from S'ren-ja, Yenadar traveled to Jode's Light in the hopes of driving out the monsters[5] and meditating in the two moon's light in Second Seed. In two different accounts from his writings, he claims that the ruins are intuned with his ancestor spirits and serene atmosphere,[6] and in another, he felt a dark presence come from the decrepit walls as early as his arrival. A soldier arrived at the ruins seeking the same solace as Yenadar but succumbed to the Dro-m'Athra.[5] Eventually, Yenadar became possessed by the same dark magic and turned into one of the Dro-m'Athra.[6]

After Yenadar's transformation, an adventurer delved into the ruins and defeated the corrupted monk. They came across his journal and returned it to his sister, Kala in S'ren-ja.[7] At the same year, an adventurer and his companion, Abnur Tharn traveled to Jode's Light to find the final piece needed to decipher the Wrathstone's map and uncover the "Demon Weapon". After solving the puzzle, the two left for their camp in Grahtwood and deduced the location to the Demon Weapon as the Halls of Colossus.[4]
