Cornelius Sympsus

Cornelius Sympsus is an Imperial publican and Wet Ear of the Thieves Guild who runs The Howling Noose in Firewatch. He can give you the key to the local Thieves Guild hideout if you are already a member or have a high enough disposition with him. He can also give you a little background on Balicius Coloni and a little reward for helping him, although he can't tell you what 'gummidge' means.

He wears a common shirt, a pair of common pants, and a pair of heavy leather boots. He wields a Cruel Flamesword, and carries 26 gold and a key to the locked door (60) in the basement.

Aside from his natural charm and ability to absorb fatigue from others, he knows no spells.

MiscellaneousEdit

DialogueEdit

  • Background:
"I'm %Name. Just an honest bartender who knows how to keep his mouth shut."
  • Beds:

If you have agreed to rent the bed for a night:

"Alright. Your room is upstairs, first door on your left. You've got it for a day -- don't make me kick you out." (Disposition up by 2 and removed 10 gold from your inventory)
  • Dusters:
"Let's just say they aren't welcome in The Howling Noose."
  • Services:
"This is the Howling Noose, %PCName. I rent beds, and sell drinks. What do you want?"
  • someone in particular:

If you are not a member of the Thieves Guild:

"I wouldn't want to gossip about my patrons, stranger."
  • Thieves Guild:
"Never heard of them."

If Disposition is at least 80 OR you are a member of the Thieves Guild:

"Behind the bar. Downstairs." (You receive a Howling Noose Basement Key)

GummidgeEdit

  • gummidge:
"That sounds exactly like something I expect to hear from Balicius Coloni! I have no idea what it means, though. However, I happen to know where you could find your answer. That man hasn't always been a poor beggar in the street. He used to be one of the Dusters, back in those dark days after the old Duchess died. I think he might still have an old comrade or two left in the Dustmoth Legion. You should go and ask over there."
  • Continue:
"I do pity him somewhat. Even if he was a Duster. I sometimes let him stay here when it's raining, but that's about all I can do for him. But if you're able to make him happy, I'll consider giving you something in return."
"So it was a hackle-lo leaf that he was looking for? I'll remember that next time he comes visiting. Here, have a drink for your help. You can also stay the night at the inn if you like. Your room is upstairs, first door on your left." (Disposition up by 10 and you receive a bottle of Flin)
