Azariah Thelas

Azariah Thelas is a Dark Elf noble who can be found in his house in Ranyon-ruhn. He is the accountant in charge of the troubled Ranyon-ruhn mine, and is quick to bemoan his status as a working noble under Master Mithras. Understandably, the miners have suspicions that he is involved in a scheme to steal ebony from the mine, and while Azariah dismisses their concerns, Master Mithras is willing to investigate further.

He wears an extravagant shirt and a pair of expensive pants. When he's in the catacombs underneath Ranyon-ruhn, he also wears a pair of expensive shoes. He wields a Silver Sparkblade.

Aside from his natural resistance to fire and the sanctuary provided by his ancestors, he knows no spells.

MiscellaneousEdit

DialogueEdit

  • Greeting:
"If you're an investor in the mine, I'm the accountant you should speak to. If not, I don't know what you'd want here."
  • accountant:
"Yes, I'm the accountant, responsible for the money invested in that mine and its management. A working noble, right before your eyes. Ever seen that before? Everything's possible in Telvanni territory, especially if you're not a Telvanni. And I'm not, so I'm doing anything I can to please Mithras and preserve my title."
  • Background:
"I'm %Name, noble. Well, not much of one, but still a noble."
  • Betmeri:
"Ah, of course, I should not confuse an outlander such as yourself with such 'foreign' words. They are filthy things. Fit for no better than slave labor. Any being of true culture can see that 'Argonians' and 'Khajiit', as they so proudly call themselves, are no better than the guar that we herd. Honestly, I don't know what else to expect from them."

If you are an Argonian or a Khajiit:

"[Azariah looks disgusted] You know."
  • latest rumors:
"I do not care for such trivialities. And even if I did, nothing of note ever occurs in this wreck of a town."
  • Master Mithras:
"Master is what they call him here. He's no master for me, I'm a noble and he's having fun by humiliating me. That Telvanni believes that I never was a true noble because I've never worked. But, that IS nobility. To have others work for you. I demand that he replace me with someone and pay me instead of him. I am not a lowly worker."
  • mine:
"It's so wretched and unimportant that it doesn't even have a name. The mine. Just that. I'm in charge of the financial part, I run that hole-in-the-cliff, it should at least be named after me. The Azariah mine. Or Thelas mine. Or something related to me, as compensation for my wasted time."
  • my trade:
"I am a noble, elevated by birth and distinction to the highest ranks of society and stuck in this gods-forsaken town, right in the middle of nowhere. I am responsible for the financial matters of that wretched mine below, yet all I get is this ruin of a residence and the privilege to still be a noble. Some noble, I say."
  • someone in particular:
"Master Mithras is the local Telvanni lord. You can find him in Tel Aranyon. Nevusa Lakasyn is our healer and Irele Nathryon our alchemist, their shops are here in the town. And if you are a prospective miner, go to talk to Mirisun Varen, he's the team coordinator."
  • Tel Aranyon:
"That's where Mithras lives. I hate that tower."

Trouble in Ranyon-ruhn: A Most Displeased NobleEdit

  • Greetings:
"So, you are Mithras' latest pawn? And how much do you know about accountance? Let me guess: nothing? As I expected, another useless assistant. Very well, I suppose I could come up with some small chores for you to complete."
"You have chores to attend to, if I am not much mistaken, %PCRace. Now, shoo." Goodbye
"Have you handled those chores I gave you?"
"Our lord and Master has summoned you, has he not? Be a good %PCRace and run along now, will you?" Goodbye
  • chores:
"Very well. I assume our esteemed lord, Mithras has informed you of the situation? Reduced income from the mines, unhappy workers, no slaves? Quite the mess, no? Well, perhaps the miners would be happier if their wages were to come a few days early this week, hmmm? Take this money to Mirisun Varen, at the mine offices, and he will give it to the workers. Hurry along." Goodbye (You receive 1000 gold)
"You delivered the money? Good. And did a little investigatory work of your own? How charmingly independent. Pay no heed to those ingrates, %PCClass. They are far too simple to recognize a cunning scheme even if it hit them. I have another chore for you now, %PCName. Go to Kobin Delas, the merchant here in town, and arrange an order of pickaxes from him. The ones at the mine are now far beyond their best."
"Have you placed the order?"
"You placed the order? Excellent work, %PCName. I am sure these pickaxes will be with us shortly. Now, I do believe Master Mithras wishes to see you. Best not keep our inestimable Master waiting, hmmm?" Goodbye

Trouble in Ranyon-ruhn: A Delayed ShipmentEdit

  • shipment of pickaxes:
"So the shipment was attacked, was it? Well, these things happen."
"So the shipment was attacked, was it? Well, these things happen. I would reward you for recovering the pickaxes, but I just don't seem to have anything to hand. A shame."

Trouble in Ranyon-ruhn: Daggers and ChainsEdit

  • Greeting:
"Ah, this will be about those slaves I arranged the purchase of, yes?"
  • slaves:
"Very good. Yes, while you were off gallivanting with the townsfolk, I made myself useful and was able to secure the purchase of some slaves from a passing Dres slave trader. He offered me a very fair price for them. Only five-hundred septims. Here, take this to cover your costs, and I told him you'd meet him along the road to Firewatch. Once you have the slaves, bring them back here, and I will deal with them." (You receive 500 gold)
"Do you have the slaves? No? Then get moving."
"You were attacked, you say? By the slaves? Hmmm... well, what else can you expect from betmeri? I don't suppose you got the money back did you? You should inform Master Mithras of events."

Trouble in Ranyon-ruhn: Balancing ActEdit

  • Greetings:

After looking at his ledger:

"Hey! What are you doing?"
  • Master Mithras requested a routine check.: "Well, I've never had one of those before. What are you insinuating, %PCName? Now, I trust you got all the 'information' you needed? So get out." Goodbye (Disposition down by 20)
  • [Lie] The Parliament of Bugs wanted me to ensure you were keeping up your duties as a Telvanni noble.: "Hmmmph. Oh really? Well, in the future the Parliament had best provide a warning. It is a shock to have your papers searched like some... common criminal." Goodbye (Disposition down by 5)

Trouble in Ranyon-ruhn: Treachery RevealedEdit

  • Greetings:
"Oh, ah, um, %PCName. Yes, hmmm. What is it you need?"

After talking with Simeth:

"Oh, ah, um, %PCName. Yes, hmmm. What is it you need?"
  • I need to see your ledgers, to work out how much ebony Galdasi has stolen.: "Hmmm, ah yes, about those... they were just recently requested at the Mine Office for... filing. I'm afraid you'll need to go there to get them. So... you'd best be going, yes? Get out of here!"
  • You'd better not try anything funny, Azariah.: "Me? Do something 'funny'. You clearly have learned nothing about me. Now... shouldn't you be at the Mine Offices?" Goodbye
"Go on, get out of here!" Goodbye

The Coward and the TombEdit

"Are you telling me that you actually found the Ring of Rising Fortunes, %PCClass?"
  • Yes, I have found the ring you've been looking for.: "I suppose since you knew about this and found the ring, that Alvar has met a bad end? And I thought he showed promise in House Telvanni... I guess it shows what a joke I've become to put my trust in such a worthless adventurer. Nevertheless, I did get something useful out of him, at least. You, that is. For helping me to get the Ring of Rising Fortunes, I'll give you five hundred septims. It's the reward I would have given Alvar if he had finished his task." (Disposition up by 10, removed Ring of Rising Fortunes from your inventory, and you receive 500 gold)
If you don't have the ring:
"Then where is it? Don't waste my time, %PCName, I'm very busy!"
  • No, but I have heard of it.: "As have I. At first glance, the ring doesn't seem that valuable, but to whoever wears it, great fortunes follow. I heard that the ring was last worn by a herder's daughter. She became very successful soon afterwards, even married a rich noble. That was all over three centuries ago, though. It is believed that the ring is held along with her other treasures in her family's tomb. I don't know for sure, but I think the Rangirths, who around here are mostly poor herders, may just be that herder's family."
  • Continue: "If you heard that I'm looking for the Ring of Rising Fortunes, then you heard right. Let me tell you first hand, %PCName. Being an accountant for such an unimportant mine as this one isn't easy. With so little happening in the mine, my life as a noble is a joke. Maybe if my fortunes turned for the better, I could do something about this miserable situation, and maybe the Ring of Rising Fortunes is exactly what I need to be a true noble, not just Mithras's glorified worker!"
  • Continue: "I sent Alvar Omothan, a promising Telvanni Lawman, to retrieve the ring for me from the Rangirth Ancestral Tomb. Though as I understand it, he couldn't follow my directions, so he had to hire a Rangirth herder to guide him; a sniveling little coward who couldn't even leave offerings at his own family's tomb. Hah! Once Alvar comes back with that ring, I might just be able to get a bit more prestige around here! Anyway, enough talking. I have "important work" to attend to."

If you gave the ring to Uneleas Rangirth:

"Ah yes. I do hope to find that ring someday... then I might not be in such a miserable position..."

If you gave the ring to Azariah:

"I'm already feeling more fortunate, %PCName. That gold I gave you as a reward? I've already made that much back... and faster than usual..."
