Skyrim talk:Jenassa

Rehiring?Edit

I am playing a Redguard, and the second (and subsequent) time I hired Jenassa (done immediately after dismissing her) she didn't charge me anything. Do people really think you have to be an elf (and my experience is a bug) or do you just need to have a high approval rating? Not sure what I might have done to earn it, but my character is not an elf. Oldmanleschi 18:40, 29 December 2011 (UTC)

According to the main follower page you can rehire a follower immediately after dismissing them for free. (sometimes). Dragonalumni 12:13, 30 December 2011 (UTC)
Dragonalumni is corrent, rehiring ANY of the Mercenary followers immediatly after dismissing them will allow you to regain them for free. Lord Eydvar 04:50, 28 February 2012 (UTC)
I've had her charge me again after immediately dismissing and rehiring her. Just before I had hired her the first time I hit her on accident and submitted, with her saying something along the lines of "If you hurt me again I'll have to kill you." I dismissed her and found she still wanted to charge me but had the dialogue option for marriage. 24.11.105.8 07:21, 4 February 2013 (GMT)Kit_Cloud

Related QuestsEdit

I added a section called related quests which had a link to thieves guild fishing jobs. Is this info wrong? Why was it removed? It is possible of course, that she isn't related to the quest at all, since all I saw was her character page stating that "Jenassa may also be a target of fishing jobs." or something like that. 219.88.64.227 22:56, 4 January 2012 (UTC)

DisappearedEdit

I married Jenassa, and during the wedding ceremony she just disappeared. She walked out and I never saw her again. I checked everywhere for her but couldn't find her - not in the Drunken Huntsman or my house. She's just gone. Has this happened with anyone else? Is this a bug or did something I am not aware of happen? Because I can't just divorce her and marry someone else, I'm stuck with her and now she's gone.

It is possible that it's a bug but she might just be taking her time getting to your house or the shop she lives in. Did you tell her to move in with you? If so it generally takes a few days for wives/husbands to get to your house. RIM 10:44, 29 January 2012 (UTC)
No, I didn't even get time to talk to her. As soon as I got the Band of Matrimony, she just walked out without talking to me, and then disappeared.
81.206.246.223 13:57, 29 January 2012 (UTC)
Well if your on PC you could probably use the console but otherwise I don't know what you could do. Try waiting a few in-game days. Sorry I can't help more.RIM 16:33, 29 January 2012 (UTC)
I also had this issue, marriage, disappeared. I am glad that I removed her armor first though and took all those nice weapons I had given her. i have found her to be the most resilient of my followers so far, hasn't died unless she moved in front of my bow shot, I just reloaded to get her back. — Unsigned comment by RileyAiden (talkcontribs) at 01:01 on 12 March 2012
When this happened to me with somebody else, I came back to the Temple of Mara later and found her there, waiting to ask me where we should live. I also found her to be very resilient (although she is my first and only), she was often brought to her knees but always got back up again. I had to save and kill her just to confirm she can actually die. 50.123.65.50 04:13, 2 April 2012 (UTC)

() I just had her dissapear after I turned into a Werewolf. She was outside The Underforge, but now I can't find her anywhere. Anyone know where to find her, or is this a bug? 21 Apr 12 — Unsigned comment by 124.40.63.250 (talk) at 06:29 on 22 April 2012

Aela became your follower, and Jenassa went back to The Drunken Huntsman. Vyc Ðarkshådøw 05:45, 5 August 2012 (UTC)
I play on the 360 and I lost her in a playthrough without ever hiring her once. She vanished from her spot in the Drunk Huntsman. 150 in-game days later, I located her standing a short distance off the path slightly west of the Broken Fang Cave. In the small clearing next to the rocks. I do not know if she's always been there after disappearing on me, or just now. And I don't know if this is unique to me or not. But maybe it's relevant and I thought I would mention it. I dismissed my current follower, hired Jenassa, then dismissed her and she started walking back to Whiterun. If anyone can confirm that this is where she disappears to when she vanishes, we could write a proper bug note about the issue with a description of where she is. If she doesn't appear in the same place for people, then at least mention that she can vanish. She's vanished on me every single playthrough I've done, but this is the first time I ever found her. And granted, I rarely looked around Broken Fang Cave, so I could have missed her if that's where she goes. If that's where she goes, I do not understand why that location, if it's not special and she can go to a number of places, then at least that could be mentioned. -- Matt (talk) 07:34, 23 April 2014 (GMT)
You are free to add the bug with a bug report with a short version of your observations. It will automatically be marked with a "verification needed", making it more visible for later readers of the UESP wiki than just leaving it only on the talk page. —MortenOSlash (talk) 20:28, 23 April 2014 (GMT)

Took Jenassa at level 17 and she could unlock Master Chests.Edit

Very usefull if you don't want bother with the tiresome lockpicking minigame. Just make sure she only unlocks it and don't order her to take all or you could end up with stolen items.

Also, the article says she's a ranger who prefers bows? I have not found that at all. She will hardly ever use a bow and when she rarely does she always uses her default hunting bow and won't touch anything else (I've tried everything smithed to legendary). As far as dual weilding, not the case in my game either. She will only use 1-h and shield or 1-h and staff. She occasionally tries to sneak attack enemies too. I think she's more of a theif than a ranger myself.--RumblePen 04:04, 3 March 2012 (UTC)

The statement that she prefers Archery is based on her best skill, which is Archery. The statement that she is a Ranger is likewise based on what the game files say. I'm not sure about the statement about dual wielding, but in your case you may not be giving her very good weapons. Currently, the way that characters choose what weapons to use is somewhat buggy, although since you're only level 17 you might not be giving her good enough weapons. ?• JATalk 04:11, 3 March 2012 (UTC)
My Jenassa regularly uses the enchanted glass bow I gave her, at least when it's possible for her to keep a distance. As with all followers, she chooses equipment based on their non-tempered stats, so you have to give her a bow that starts out at better quality than a hunting bow. I've also seen her dual-wield, although only if there is no shield in her inventory. I think the reason why she can dual-wield is her combat style, csForswornBerserkerLow. --NepheleTalk 08:41, 3 March 2012 (UTC)
I've given her Legendary enchanted hunting bows, Epic Ebony bows, and she still just won't use them ever. And as far as dual weilding goes, I think just about every follower will dual weild with a shiv. I've only tested this with a few characters, but I'm guessing they "know" it makes their right hand weapon swing faster if they've got a shiv in the left.--RumblePen 03:18, 4 March 2012 (UTC)
I have found that she likes to use the staffs, I gave her two staffs of fire and she is devastating with them as she wields them both. She will use a bow if she is back far enough and the staffs are depleted. I would not want to cross her. — Unsigned comment by RileyAiden (talkcontribs) at 01:41 on 12 March 2012

() If you're on PC, console-remove her default hunting bow, and she'll use anything you give her until she's dismissed. If you reclaim her as your follower after dismissal, console-remove it again. As noted in other sections, followers use the best base items, not the best SMITHED items. So giving her a Legendary Hunting Bow is pointless, it's the same base item as a regular Hunting Bow. No perks although ranger class?Edit

I'm suprised Jenassa has no listed perks, especially since the Ranger follower from Dawnguard (Durak) has quite a few perks. IF perks are determined by class (don't know, need someone to verify) shouldn't she have the same perks as Durak? --Skyhirider 01:19, 25 August 2012 (UTC)

Perks (At least I believe) can be verified by class but also be important to that person(unique perks) but I dunno about Durak haven't gotten Dawnguard.
--Billy The Daedra 01:23, 25 August 2012 (UTC)
The perks listed on each page are taken straight from the NPC records in game-data. If you scroll down on Durak's record, you'll see a table labeled "Perk Id". There isn't one listed on Jenassa's record. -ABCface 03:12, 25 August 2012 (UTC)

Jenassa QuotesEdit

I was surprised to see that Jenassa's page does not include any of her quotes, as she is one of the more interesting companions in the game in regards to what she says. I did however find an exhaustive list of quotes on elderscrolls.wikia.com, listed here: [1] While the article could definitely benefit from having the list, I feel like just copying and pasting it in would be frowned upon. Anyone else have thoughts on this? --GodRaine (talk) 21:17, 3 March 2013 (GMT)

Yeah, copying and pasting stuff from an other site is not something to do, first because it's more or less complete plagiarism, but also because the infos might not be correct and need to be verified. We should let someone with a PC and the original version of the game take care of that, it'll happen eventually. 92.134.250.196 07:06, 4 March 2013 (GMT)
I qualify under both stipulations - I will try to get this done soon. Thanks for the input. GodRaine | Talk 16:43, 4 March 2013 (GMT)
Not only that, but we generally prefer the dialogue on our articles to have more of a "story" feel- that is, explain the situation when giving unique dialogue, rather than just giving a list format. For things like combat dialogue, where there could be twenty different possible lines, a list or table may be better, but it depends on the information and how it's used. Just be sure to only include dialogue unique to her, not dialogue shared by others with the same voice type, etc. — ABCface 20:39, 4 March 2013 (GMT)

Please clarifyEdit

On the page it says ...also one of the only followers able to dual wield weapons. Does this mean one of the few followers or the only follower?? — Unsigned comment by Sniffles (talkcontribs) at 10:51 on 2 June 2013

One of. Rayya can too (added by Hearthfire), not sure of any others off-hand. — ABCface 01:28, 3 June 2013 (GMT)
Ralis and Frea in the DB expansion dual wield as well. He assay is still the best at it though. — Unsigned comment by 68.33.72.213 (talk) at 05:21 on 20 March 2014 (GMT)

Can't hire JenassaEdit

Hey guys, I have this weird problem where there is absolutely no chance to hire Jenassa. Once I select the "Consider yourself hired" dialogue option just nothing happens. I didnt have a follower in the game so far, but I did try to hire another mercenary just to test it out. I didn't have enough gold for that, but whats important, he did respond to my "Consider yourself hired" line. Oh, and there is no message in the upper left corner saying that I already got a follower, or anything like that. By the way, my charracter is level 12 at the moment, if that is relevant at all. If anyone had this problem or knows how to fix it, please share and let me know :) Thanks in advance ! — Unsigned comment by 79.175.66.130 (talk) at 01:59 on 13 July 2013 (GMT)

Answer : I have same problem. You have to check all installed mods one by one. And tadaaaa...my problem was "BosmerArmor" Mod. So i uninstalled that Mod. Finally, i can hire Jenassa again.
Maybe everyone has a different case. So, the conclusion is just check all your mods. — Unsigned comment by 125.166.31.42 (talk) at 23:41 on 15 August 2013
The Bosmer Armour mod does seem to break dialogue options with Jenassa; the author acknowledges it and says it will be fixed in the next update, but that was a couple of months ago. In the mean time I'd recommend only hiring her with the mod turned off. If you use Extensible Follower Framework then you can issue commands like Wait through that. 82.4.112.172 16:06, 27 August 2013 (GMT)

Won't live in house (Hearthfire)Edit

I don't know if this is a bug or if it's a normal thing. I keep telling her to move into my house (Windstad Manor) but she always leaves and ends up back at the Drunken Huntsman. We are already married but she just won't move into my house. Any solutions? — Unsigned comment by 67.133.145.208 (talk) at 05:42 on 20 May 2014 (GMT)

An answer five years late but possibly still relevant, if not to the OP then to anyone else who might have this issue: It may be a Hearthfire issue rather than a Jenassa issue, if there isn't an actual bed in the house that she can regard as hers (there has been a known issue with making a bed in the Main Hall, then subsequently adding a Bedrooms west wing to the house and not yet having a double bed in the new wing while it's still under construction.) Jenassa can't wear Boethiah's Ebony MailEdit

I've noticed the following unconfirmed item in the Notes:

> Every once in a while Jenassa may not be able to wear Ebony armor, Other heavy armors work, It is just Ebony that doesn't.

I was doing Boethiah's quest with her, and tried to equip her with the Ebony mail set. Indeed, she didn't wear the Ebony Mail itself, but that was Boethiah's Ebony Mail, which is different from a regular one. Maybe she can't use that specific Ebony Mail? That would explain why the note says it just happens sometimes. — Unsigned comment by 200.196.153.14 (talk) at 16:18 on 30 August 2021 (UTC)

Eating arrows problem -- solved, I thinkEdit

Giving a follower one Soul Stealer arrow is a great way to pick up extras from their victims -- except that mysteriously on some playthroughs but not others Jenassa doesn't have the infinite follower arrows glitch. That is, after every fight she had used up the one Soul Stealer arrow I gave her. Very frustrating!

It turns out that the problem happens when I give her a "named" bow that came with an enchantment on it already (Imperial Bow of Frost or something similar.) If I give her instead a bow that I upgraded myself, or even a bow that I added enchantment to, then she goes back to having that infinite arrows glitch. Bless her heart! Hope this solves the problem for others, because Jenassa is a great follower, with fun dialogue, and aggressive enough to be a bit of a tank when I want to play archer.
