Detailed WalkthroughEdit
The TriangleEdit
When you visit the small town of Riverwood, the local beauty, Camilla Valerius, has sparked the interest of two bachelors in town. The local bard, Sven, and the Wood Elf hunter Faendal, are both vying for Camilla's favor; and will resort to slander and libel to win it.
What a Tangled Web We WeaveEdit
If you approach Sven first, at the Sleeping Giant Inn, you will come to know of his love for Camilla, and about his suspicions about Faendal's involvement in her life. Sven will then ask you for a favor: deliver a fake letter supposedly written by Faendal to Camilla, seemingly breaking things off with her due to her being an Imperial, and him a proud Bosmer. You may also speak to Faendal first. He can be found chopping wood near the lumber mill or wandering the village. Faendal also has feelings for Camilla and a desire to see Sven out of the picture. He asks you to deliver his own fake letter designed to disrupt Sven's wooing by outlining out the household chores he has planned for Camilla. With either letter, you can go straight to Camilla, or show the supposed letter to the other man, prompting them to hand over their own forged letter for you to deliver.
When We Practice to DeceiveEdit
When you decide who you want to help, either Sven or Faendal, deliver the letter to Camilla. Camilla is usually at the Riverwood Trader, but at night she can sometimes be found at the Sleeping Giant Inn. When you talk to Camilla, you have two ways of proceeding. You can lie to her and give her the forged letter as is, or tell her the truth about the ruse. In either case, she will effectively break off her interactions with the loser. Speak with the winner to collect your reward.
NotesEdit
- It is not possible to complete this quest in a manner that has both Sven and Faendal become available as followers and have their dispositions friendly towards you.
- Despite the events of this quest, Camilla is also a marriage candidate for you, and can be married once her disposition is increased, such as by completing the quest The Golden Claw. However, this does not in any way alter the events or dialogue of this quest, and all participants will act as if Camilla is still available. If Camilla relocates to one of your houses, and you helped one man win her over, his AI package will still have him seek her out even at your house.

- Any text displayed in angle brackets (e.g.,
<Alias=LocationHold>
) is dynamically set by the Radiant Quest system, and will be filled in with the appropriate word(s) when seen in game. - Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
- Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in any order. Some stages may therefore repeat objectives seen in other stages.
- If an entry is marked as "Finishes Quest" it means the quest disappears from the Active Quest list, but you may still receive new entries for that quest.
- On the PC, it is possible to use the console to advance through the quest by entering
