Oblivion talk:Leyawiin

Old WomanEdit

In the Leyawiin Fighters Guild, there's a room which has to be picked to get into. However, once in there you'll find an odd woman, surrounded by a load of fruit and veg. She doesn't seem to be on the list, so I'll have a look and see what I can find out about her.

It's probably from a mod, because I just searched the Leyawiin Fighters Guildhall three times and didnt find an Old Woman surounded by food, I did however find a locked room with weapons in it, but other than that I found nothing matching your description (if it helps im on the 360). --LuciusZelgius 21:52, 23 November 2008 (EST)

ImageEdit

It would probably be good if there was a Image actually of Leyawiin added. I am just not sure if that would justify a needs image tag seeing as it already has symbol images.--Most Honored Listener 01:53, 29 July 2007 (EDT)

Incident in LeyawiinEdit

This involves the Oblivion gate that you can choose to close during the 'Allies for Bruma' mission. It is well known that there is a dead paint horse outside said gate when it is found, right? What is not well known is the fact that there is a very strange Leyawiin city watch member outside it as well. He only revolves on the spot, has eyes that are half closed, so he appears to be between dying and opening his eyes, his mouth only moves when he is attacked with magic, which cannot kill him, by the way, but a single point of physical damage will, creatures do not attack him, yet he is alive (Detect life and absorb health) and he cannot attack, only speak! His sealed mouth only moves during the persuasion minigame. The skull of Corruption is ineffective, and when raised with the Staff of Worms, he can still only rotate, and is still unharmed by magic! The only spells that seem to affect him are shock and fireball, both of which do not harm him, they only knock him down, and then he gets up. I have not yet tried paying the fine, or going to jail when he talks to me. Has anyone else had this 'problem'?--Merco 10:10, 20 August 2007 (EDT)

I don't think it's something that occurs only outside Leyawiin. I've had a Chorrol guard do exact same thing only he stands in front of Francois Mottoire's house. --Saruuk 19:28, 20 August 2007 (EDT)
He was the dead guard that decorated the scene at the Leyawiin Oblivion Gate when it first spawned after "Dagon Shrine". He, like every other guard, happens to respawn every three days, so he came to life. Problem is, he was designed to be nothing more than scene dressing. —Dark Spark 13:42, 10 April 2008 (EDT)

It turns out that he behaves 'sort of' like a normal guard, as he can send me to jail, and I can pay him gold.

It appears he may have lost his scripting or gotten stuck on an object, it is most likely a glitch caused by him trying to kill any creatures nearby (guards kill nearby hostile creatures sometimes) and he may have gotten stuck on something, like a plant or he may have fallen a little bit through the ground.-Puddle 13:32, 10 April 2008 (EDT)
I have seen this too. I messed around with it a little bit and found that my unicorn attacked him even though he had no weapon unsheathed. This is a strange and funny bug. --Matthewest TCE 02:08, 22 July 2008 (EDT)

Does anyone know if disabling him in the console has any any adverse effects? He keeps trying to arrest me (with a bounty of 30 every time if that helps)... Very annoying, especially when you want to close his favourite Oblivion gate. — Unsigned comment by 123.211.215.199 (talk) on 28 December 2009

Disabling him shouldn't cause any trouble. Though you might wish to try the kill command instead. The game will not register you as the killer, and using this method will cause the guard to respawn (at his original location) eventually. --Timenn-<talk> 11:53, 7 January 2010 (UTC)

Locked Display CaseEdit

There is a display case in the Leyawiin Mages Guild, first floor that has some strange crystals in it. It is locked and requires a key. There is an unidentified rusty key in a container upstairs that doesn't seem to fit anything, and no key I have found opens the display case. Strange...

You can't open it - it's all one object. Also discussed here.
You can, in fact, open it - if you are on a PC that is. Stand in front of the Display Case, open the console, click the case and then type "unlock" in the console. However, it IS true that the whole case is one object. It is not meant to be opened, and can't through normal means, which is why there is nothing to be looted.

The Rusty key found in the mages guild is used for a dark brotherhood quest. I have completed all of the dark brother hood quests and I never got asked about it! 86.152.167.23 20:48, 16 August 2010 (UTC)

Secret RoomEdit

In the Leyawiin Castle, there is a room called "Secret Room." You can get to it through the basement (there will be a switch inside a barrel right beside the hidden door, your map will show that there is a passage there). Inside this room are chairs, lit candles, a silver warhammer, and chains. In the center of the room is a bloody table surrounded by the chairs with a fork and knife on it. There is also another door that leads to the Private Quarters and another switch (both doors are locked with Hard difficulty, by the way). The Leyawiin page doesn't mention this odd room and I can't seem to find a quest associated with it. Does anyone know anything about it? --24.174.98.121 22:58, 11 March 2008 (EDT)

It is part of a Thieves Guild quest and is mentioned here. –RpehTCE 02:56, 12 March 2008 (EDT)

Thanks. --24.174.98.121 15:00, 12 March 2008 (EDT)

has anyone ever seen another person enter the room i want 2 know whether they torture my creed (argonian) in there so i can exact my revenge as listener!!!— Unsigned comment by 84.68.244.32 (talk)

Nobody actually is scripted to enter the room check the page to see who is "supposed" to use it (I dont want to spoil anything) puddle 21:48 April 17,2008

How're ships supposed to come in through Leyawiin?Edit

The game makes it apparent that ships sail through the river and one of the people in the Dark Brotherhood quests says she'll "keep an eye on ships coming through Leyawiin" or something like that, but Leyawiin completely blocks the way in or out. — Unsigned comment by 208.100.228.18 (talk)

You're right, of course. Earlier versions of the game art show the city standing on a piece of land jutting into the river but not blocking it completely. Evidently that was changed but the designers didn't consider the effect on the navigability of the river. –RpehTCE 12:56, 10 April 2008 (EDT)
Maybe also the developers planned to swap Leyawiin & Bravil when they didn't want the piece of land jutting into the river, the lifting of the sewer grates could easily let a ship with a not-so-large mast in.-Puddle 13:27, 10 April 2008 (EDT)
Though we never see the ebb and flow of the tide, you have to imagine that a world with two moons ought to have some rather big tides. —Dark Spark 13:46, 10 April 2008 (EDT)
Maybe the two moons have equal gravitational pull on both sides therefore causing no tide.-User:Shadow Play 9:55, 4 February 2009 (EDT)
This would not cause no tide, just tides with an increased frequency — Unsigned comment by 70.253.82.92 (talk) on 27 July 2009

Candle in DungeonEdit

Ok so I was doing the Adharji's Ring quest and upon going downstairs to talk to Amusei, I noticed the lone candlestick in the corner was giving off a little too much light. I mean, it was like someone painted the wall behind the candle pure white (XBOX 360) Is this a bug or do the single candle on a pole-s give off ALOT of light? ImmortalKaine 00:27, 22 July 2008 (EDT)

That's just the usual Oblivion lighting system. Never wondered how light sometimes comes from nowhere (or at least why no place in Oblivion is entirely black)? This kind of mistake is easy to make as in the CS, the candle doesn't come with the light parameters built in. You place the light source first (but no light comes out of it yet), then you place a light over it (there are different tints/shades and radiuses... radii???). Probably a simple mistake on the developers' part. Vesna 00:32, 22 July 2008 (EDT)

Mazoga the Orc: Count Marius CaroEdit

I cant seem to get this quest started for some reason. I go to my journal and the arrow pops up to take me to the count but Mazogas name doesnt come up. I have the game on PS3 any help or ideas would help. Thanks.

Buying a house in Skingrad

I also tried to buy a house in Skingrad but The arrow cycles from the west wield and the castle. I read on this site that that means the butler died. Is there any way to fix this for PS3 or do I just not get to buy the house?

The CountessEdit

So, I was in a mood and decided to kill the Leyawin guards. All of them. The Countess shows up and I killed her too. She was a snob anyway. Now when I try to get into Leyawin the picture freezes. Just with Leyawin. Any ideas?Trick153 02:54, 27 August 2008 (EDT)

Leyawin PrisonEdit

Since this is the prison with the torture chamber, if I am playing as an Argonian and I get sent to prison, will I be sent to the torture chamber? — Unsigned comment by 68.214.192.91 (talk) on 12 December 2008

Nope. –RpehTCE 03:10, 13 December 2008 (EST)

Missing DBH questEdit

The related quest section seems to be missing the dark brotherhood quest where you kill Amidus Phillida. (http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Permanent_Retirement)

Not sure if it's been purposefully Ommited

Good catch! I will add it. --Elliot(T-C) 03:36, 22 July 2009 (UTC)

Snow in Lewawiin?Edit

When I exited from the mages guild, after completeing the reccomandation quest for a new charecter, I noticed it was snowing in Leyawiin. Considering its so far south, this seems odd. It only happened for about 10 seconds, then it stopped. I play on x-box 360. Any ideas as to if this is normal?--Arch-Mage Matt 00:25, 2 October 2009 (UTC)

Coast Guard StationEdit

I have the key for it, but i cant find it. it has no page of its own and no marker on the interactive map. help. SneakyPenguin77 (also my Gamertag) 22:21, 2 October 2009 (UTC)

Nevermind, i found it, i was looking south of leyawiin, and its north. SneakyPenguin77 (also my Gamertag) 22:40, 2 October 2009 (UTC)
There is also a coast guard station below the torture chamber but I think it was a glitch I hope— Unsigned comment by 72.251.24.116 (talk) at 22:53 on 11 April 2010
That sounds like a glitch indeed. Talk Wolok gro-Barok Contributions 17:02, 12 April 2010 (UTC)

Dead guardsEdit

After i completed the layawiin oblivion gate i went to the castle and found all the guards dead, the count was fine but at low health and it looked like he had just finished a fistfight. why?

______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

This has happened to me on the 360, i currently do not have xbox live on the account i was doing this on and then when i tried to use convalance on the cont he got up and tried to kill me. Then a random person (didnt even have a name) attacked me with what looked like a Glass warhammer. When i promted to yeild it said " I HAVE NO GREETING." this was also just after i completed one of the numerous leyawiin gates. -Guest(A.K.A: Xbox live tag: xD R A Y C 0 Sx)

Lag inside Leyawiin buildings?Edit

Whenever I go into buildings in Leyawiin, I get some moderate lag issues. It doesn't seem to be too affected by minor changes to the graphics setting; I have the presets on low. Furthermore, it's only in Leyawiin buildings that I get lag. Even at the same graphic settings, I don't experience lag in any other city's buildings. Explanations/Fixes? 205.133.169.233 16:12, 12 October 2011 (UTC)

Bought all the upgrades for the Leyawiin house. I can't end the mission.Edit

I've waited, slept and loaded a save game. I Cannot end this mission. I did drop all of the deeds to the furniture before I left his shop. No clue what to do to get this mission checked off.— Unsigned comment by 98.228.180.144 (talk) at 03:31 on 1 December 2011 UTC
