Enchanters are specialists in imbuing objects with magical spells, mostly armor, clothing, and weaponry. Any gold you pay for item enchanting will be added to the gold cap for 24 hours during bartering, making this a nice way to sell off expensive items you otherwise would not be able to get for the full price (as well as recouping your gold).
Note that many times the available gold in barter will not increase if you have not raised (buy something) or lowered (sell something) since it was reset to its listed value. In other words if you intend to trade to recoup your gold from enchanting, make sure you buy or sell something from the merchant prior to doing so to ensure the gold you hand over for enchanting is added to their available cash.
