Mountain Watch is a settlement located in the mountains of County Cheydinhal, in the province of Cyrodiil. Mountain Watch is a village populated by farmers, hunters, and people of varying ages, and comprised ten homes centered around a dirt square and a well. The road to Cheydinhal is a weathered, dirt trail that is hard for wagons to travel downhill.[1]:Part 1, Chapter 6

HistoryEdit

By the mid-first century of the Fourth Era, the elderly Redguard, Sariah was the charter-holder of Mountain Watch and roughly forty people lived in town. In 4E 48, during the Umbriel Crisis, a contingent of Imperial soldiers led by Captain Falcus approached Mountain Watch and ordered its civilians to evacuate while Umbriel was passing over the border. Provisions were gathered for the trip and six horses were offered to the Imperial soldiers. Two of them were attached to carts to carry children and the infirm.[1]:Part 1, Chapter 6

By the next day's afternoon, Cheydinhal's Great Chapel of Arkay was in view over the treeline and the Mountain Watch refugees were less than half a mile from the city. Umbriel's undead, the wormies, attacked them from their left flank and attempted to cut them off. The refugees broke out in a panic and by Captain Falcus' order, everyone dropped their carried goods and ran for the city gates. The wagons were left behind and the horses cut loose. Though some people died in the ambush, many of them were safely inside Cheydinhal.[1]:Part 1, Chapter 6

Refugees from Mountain Watch were among the many who later escaped Cheydinhal when it was surrounded, though some stayed in the city and eventually fed into Umbriel upon their death. The large wave of refugees, led by Captain Arges, traveled the Blue Road in two groups to find safety in the Imperial City.[1]:Part 2, Chapter 12 When the Knights of the Thorn rendezvoused with the group and told them they found Cheydinhal empty, some refugees went back the other way with little to no resistance from the Imperial command.[1]:Part 3, Chapter 4
