Elmas Island is a large crooked sickle-shaped island found on the southern shores of Vvardenfell, in the province of Morrowind. It is one of the Ascadian Isles, found on the eastern side of the Norvayn Bay, where the vast temple-metropolis of Vivec rested until it was destroyed in light of the Red Year. In the late-Third Era, the only settlement on the island was the Omani Manor, occupied by the Hlaalu councilor, Velanda Omani.[1]
Further InformationEdit
The island is considered part of the Eastern Vivec region,[1] and it is stationed between the Norvayn Bay, the Inner Sea, the waters around Bal Fell, and the rest of the region. Before the entire city was completely built, there was a bridge between the Canton of St. Olms and Elmas Island,[2] but after the Telvanni Canton was finished, the bridge was torn down and another was built between the new canton and Ald Sotha, on the next island over in the north.[3] Scattered about the island is the typical flora of the region, such as the Emperor Parasol and the Poplar trees. There are also caves found on each point of the island, commonly used by smugglers and reavers. These are specifically Nund, right on the bay next to Vivec, and Asni, the bandit hideout on the Inner Sea.
In 4E 5, the Ministry of Truth had crash-landed onto Vivec City and destroyed the surrounding landscape with a great earthquake. The site where Vivec City once stood is now called the Scathing Bay.[4]:259 The city is now an island of ash and shattered stone, surrounded by boiling water and steaming air that smelled of hard minerals. The skies are bleak and gray[4]:256 and the entire bay is surrounded by a rim that stood taller than the ruined city.[4]:257 Given the proximity of Elmas Island, there is no doubt that the island was left in utter ruin or completely destroyed by the event.
