Welcome!Edit
Well met UnknownG! Welcome to UESPWiki! It's great when we get new members. If you would like to help improve any of our pages, you may want to take a look at the following links:

When you're editing, it's always a good idea to leave edit summaries to explain the changes you have made to a particular page, and remember to sign your talk page posts with four tildes ~~~~. Also, the "show preview" button is a great way to view the changes you've made so far without actually saving the page (our patrollers really appreciate it!).
Feel free to practice editing in the sandbox or discuss the games on the forums. If you need any help, don't hesitate to contact one of our mentors. Have fun! Forfeit (talk) 15:40, 16 October 2016 (UTC)
Project TagsEdit
Please don't remove those OBNPCRP tags, even if they're fully complete. We use them for categorisation purposes. —Legoless (talk) 00:34, 26 January 2017 (UTC)
MWOP SpellsEdit
Hey UnknownG! Nice work so far on the Morrowind articles! I have a question for you. When you are looking at the spells, are you looking at the actual Construction Set or CSList (http://cs.uesp.net/index.php?game=mw)? I'm asking because, for many NPC's, their spells do not seem to show up in CSList but they actually do exist in the actual Construction Set. This was mentioned in a past discussion on the project page found here. I'm guessing this is why you are not seeing any spells for Bevadar Bels. However, since I'm the one that added the spells initially, I figured I'd check with you before adding them back in just in case something strange is happening on my end. Let me know whenever you have a chance. Thanks! Forfeit (talk) 07:50, 28 January 2018 (UTC)
- Thank you so much for clarifying that! I actually wanted to message you about it, I do use the CSList but from now on I'll be working with the actual Construction Set just so things like that don't happen anymore. UnknownG 12:58, 28 January 2018 (UTC)
Edit
Hey UnknownG, thank you for all your great edits (MWOP etc.), but please don't change all the image captions. There is no "standard image caption" defined in the style guides, it's just "generally recommended that you provide a description of your image". Many NPCs have a complex schedule, so it's good to know where the image was taken. --Holomay (talk) 23:52, 31 January 2018 (UTC)
- Just saw it done before by a couple of other editors in the past, thought it was alright, thought wrong :3, will not happen again UnknownG 23:57, 31 January 2018 (UTC)
-
- I think this topic needs to be emphasized again. There's no reason to remove extra details from image captions, as they are meant to describe the picture to some degree. If we wanted all NPC pages to have their name as the image caption then there wouldn't be a caption parameter at all. As Holomay said, location is especially important, but things like "[NPC], juggling", "[NPC]'s corpse" are usually preferable over the name itself. If other NPCs are doing the same thing and their captions do not include the detail, then it's probably a good idea to add it there rather than remove it on the page it exists on. —Dillonn241 (talk) 01:21, 9 April 2018 (UTC)
UserpatrollerEdit
Hey UnknownG, I'm posting to let you know you qualify for Userpatroller status. Userpatroller is the first step towards becoming more involved with the UESP. If you're interested, just add your name to the page under applicants. You can then also add its neat userbox to your page. --Ilaro (talk) 23:38, 11 May 2018 (UTC)
BugsEdit
I've removed a number of bugs you added to some pages, mainly about keys being useless. That information goes on the Keys page, as it is totally irrelevant to the NPC page. Bugs are only placed where the "something wrong" is with the subject of the article, the only exception being where something does not have its own page or listing (which is rarely the case), then it would go on the most likely places people would encounter such an issue. If a bug is worthy of notation on another article, such as Rimalus attacking his wife, it isn't a bug with her and shouldn't be presented as such, so it is a note. The usage of the bug template is simply for the ease of adding any fixes with a few abbreviated letters, as well as adding the categories so it can be seen if an issue is outstanding or solved. Plate of CookiesEdit
You have been given a plateful of cookies! Thanks for cleaning up all those "this NPC has an ancestral tomb" notes. I noticed those, too, but figured it would be easier to wait until the person adding them was done and ask for a bot job to clean them up. Your stamina and diligence in doing so is remarkable and much appreciated! — Wolfborn(Howl) 03:24, 18 September 2021 (UTC) |
Nomination for PatrollerEdit
Hi UnknownG. You've been on the wiki for a long time now, and whenever I see your name in the Recent Changes list, I smile because I know it will be an easy edit to patrol. Even if I cannot verify it at the time, I know it's a quality edit that isn't worth my time to look at (and I mean that in the best way possible).
You have been a Userspace Patroller for nearly six years, and I'm shocked no one has nominated you for Patroller since then. I'm asking if you'll accept my nomination of you for Patrollership, after which a round of voting will determine if I can grant you the role. I'd very much like to see you in this role because I know the tools it provides will only improve your editing on the wiki. There isn't an expectation that you suddenly become more active or always watch the Recent Changes page. Rather, you'll be one more person on a team that includes Userpatrollers, Patrollers, and Admins who all collectively review edits and mark them as good. You can participate in this aspect as much or as little as you are able and willing.
As the second half of being a Patroller, all your edits are autopatrolled. We know your edits are good, and that's why we'd be giving you the ability to review others'. Your edits have been "good" by Patroller standards for years now, and if you choose to decline Patrollership, I ask that you accept my nomination of you as an Autopatrolled user.
You have done a lot for UESP with documentation of missing content from the main series, bugs, and general spelling, grammar, and consistency edits. Your edit stats show how evenly you spend your time among three major namespaces, and that's a valuable trait for a Patroller. The more knowledgeable you are about various games, the more edits you can review with confidence. Thank you for your past and continuing contributions to the wiki, and I look forward to hearing what you think. —Dillonn241 (talk) 03:40, 26 January 2024 (UTC)
- Hey Dillonn, I appreciate the kind words and I'm glad to make a positive contribution. I'd be happy to accept your nomination. Thank you for the consideration. UnknownG (talk) 15:43, 26 January 2024 (UTC)

- Sounds great. I'll work on the nomination for you later today (most likely my post here switched to third-person point of view). —Dillonn241 (talk) 18:27, 26 January 2024 (UTC)

- You might want to formally accept the nomination on the UESPWiki:Patrollers/Nominations page, seems a lot of people aren't aware you have! 😁 —Legoless (talk) 22:07, 31 January 2024 (UTC)

Unfinished QuestsEdit
Hey there, I looked over some of the unfinished quests you added recently, and am having trouble finding them in the game files. I can't find "DunBrinehammerQST", "CWMission08", "CWMission11", "FreeformAngasMillA", "Favor016Quest", "FreeFormHeljarchenA", "FreeformOldHroldanA", and "FreeformShugurzburB". I've searched the game records, the CSlist, my dialogue extract, and my string extract, and didn't find any of the ones I tested. When I reached out to other people experienced with Skyrim's files, they also couldn't find any sign of them. I also attempted to search for most of the dialogue lines/quest names/NPCs with search engines, with the only results returning being the UESP itself primarily.
I was able to find a reference to Gar-shutan in a Spanish string dump, which is curious. Can you please elaborate more about these files, and provide a methodology for me to also find them please? --AKB Talk Cont Mail 04:43, 1 March 2024 (UTC)
- For sure! Those quests (as well as some of the Markarth ones) exist almost exclusively in text/code strings found in the games "DialogueViews" files. These files are contained under the "Data" folder in your Skyrim directory and need some kind of coding tool to be viewed, as they're all in .xml format. I personally use Visual Code Studio to do this. I hope this helps! --UnknownG 02:29, 3 March 2024 (UTC)

(←) Since it's so hard to find, would it be possible for you to cite where the information came or add it in the notes of any affected quests. Especially if they're not part of the ESM files or if it involves orphaned records that don't show in the CK or whatever else, I feel like we should tell people exactly where to find it and how we know it's legit. Thanks! – Robin Hood (talk) 04:32, 3 March 2024 (UTC)

- Of course. I make a point to mention the specific source when I refer to the removed quests or other such info on location or NPC pages, but will do so on the unfinished quests page as well, going forward. --UnknownG 23:00, 3 March 2024 (UTC)

Opinion regarding a recent changeEdit
Hey there UnknownG, I really appreciate all the work you've done on UESP for the last many years. I've also watched pretty much all your YouTube channel vids, and even left a few comments on some vids in the past. However, I do want to share my honest opinion that [your recent change on] the Interior Test Cells page two weeks ago isn't quite the improvement per se. I appreciate you adding the lines you mentioned in [one of your videos], but in doing so you also deleted a lot of valuable information on many other interior cells, including all the FormIDs. My suggestion is that you either keep the old format, and include all the Description info you changed, or keep your new format, but then also include all the test cells info you deleted, like the FormIDs and Description info. I almost want to do all of this myself, but since you are the once who changed it, I'd most of all would like you to do the changes yourself. I'm really looking forward to possible new vids on your channel! C0rTeZ48 (talk) 08:13, 26 May 2024 (UTC)
- Hah. No problem at all. I wasn't quite certain of the format myself, as while the old table was nice, it limits the potential information. While on the other hand, now it's just an empty and long slog. The lack of Form IDs I kinda don't care for, because I noticed that the Skyrim page doesn't list them either, and you don't really need them as long as you have the editor ID. Though I guess there's ultimately no point in removing them. I wanted to split up the cells related to the Testing Hall from all the rest, but that format is something I wrote years ago and I never quite finished it, so I couldn't replace it all in one fell swoop. But I honestly don't think it's gonna get finished otherwise, since I just wanted to dump my notes and get it over with. Let me know what you think, I'd be totally fine with just reverting to the old format, but retroactively updating the notes and relevant information! UnknownG 02:35, 25 January 2024 (UTC)
- Alright, so you're still going to update the rest then? Personally I don't really mind whether we keep the old or new format, I just think it's best the removed information returns. Btw, I left a comment on your (last video), you might find that interesting information for a new video or something! If you can't see it, perhaps changing to 'new comments' rather than most popular ones! C0rTeZ48 (talk) 16:58, 31 May 2024 (UTC)
