Words with the {Sic} tagEdit

Please stop your incorrect edits --Brf 22:26, 21 December 2010 (UTC)

Please, do not edit these anymore. When a word has the  [sic] tag, it means the misspelling is intentionally copied from the game and should be left as is. --Wizy (Talk/Contribs) 22:37, 21 December 2010 (UTC)

EditsEdit

Hey, its great your taking an interest editing the UESP but some of your edits could be seen as inapropriate. Please could you make the judgement before you add information if it is nessicery or not like this edit. It will be appreciated if you do and I also see your interested in taking part in the OPRP and if you are serious about taking part in checking, the help would be welcomed. Thanks - Emoboy64 01:39, 22 December 2010 (UTC)

WelcomeEdit

Hello Pwnageincarnate! Albeit a little late Welcome to UESPWiki. It's always good to have new members. If you would like to help improve any of our pages, you may want to take a look at the following links:

If you, on the other hand, would like to spice up your userpage, take a look at this link:

  • Userboxes: near complete list of userboxes, including a guide to make your own

When you're editing, it's always a good idea to leave edit summaries to explain the changes you have made to a particular page. Also, the "show preview" button is a great way to view the changes you've made so far without actually saving the page (our patrollers really appreciate it!).

Feel free to practice editing in the sandbox and don't hesitate to contact one of our mentors if you need any help. Have fun! --Wizy (Talk/Contribs) 02:05, 22 December 2010 (UTC)

Multiple EditsEdit

I see that you have been making multiple sequential edits to some pages. Please try to avoid this in the future. It makes it harder for our Patrollers to monitor the Recent Changes. Thanks. --DKong27 Talk Cont 02:32, 22 December 2010 (UTC)

Use the 'preview' button to view your edit and compress them into one by seeing the final page before saving - Emoboy64 02:36, 22 December 2010 (UTC)

AdviceEdit

Hey Pwnageincarnate! While it is great that you want to contribute, please keep a few things in mind when you are "cleaning up" pages:

  • Unexplained deletions by a new user will always net you a lot of attention from Patrollers. Edit Summaries like "removed unnecessary information" doesn't cut it in this case, I'm afraid.
  • When deleting Notes, it is always a good idea to move them to the article's talk page with a brief explanation as to why they were removed. For a good example, check this out: Wizy recently removed 90% of the useless and confusing information on the Sanguine page. Afterwards, Wizy added all the deleted information to the talk page. This is how it should be done; in this case, I noticed that an important bug was deleted and was able to re-add it - what Wizy did was including the Community in his decisions, which is how it should be done.
  • If you decide to clean up the Molag Bal-page, it is a good idea to notice it somewhere. Either when you move bad Notes to the talk page, but, considering that you are relatively "new", maybe even on your own User Page - that way, Patrollers will not gang up on you.

Try to keep these things in mind - and REMEMBER to use the Show Preview button as much as you can. Patrollers have to read through each and every edit you do and mark them patrolled - so hitting the save button too many times basically makes you waste their time. Good luck - and remember, you can ask any questions you want; you will always get an answer and it is sometimes better than simply hacking away on pages. For the record, I was about to revert all your edits to the Molag Bal-page - until I realized that they were actually good. Follow the tips above and everything is fine. Thanks for the effort so far and keep it up. --Krusty 08:14, 22 December 2010 (UTC)

Map - and the restEdit

Okay, it seems like I'm going to be the latest long-term editor to post on your talk page in a slightly questioning tone of voice (if you'll pardon the phrase). First, let me say that it's good to see somebody new taking an active role on the site. It's also good to see somebody being bold and making big edits.

In my case, I only want to know about your edit to File:OB-Map-NonwyllCavern02.jpg: I can't quite tell what's been changed, except the size has dropped by about 50%. If there's a change to be made, please could you re-upload the image at the same size, because otherwise many features are difficult to make out. If there's any help I can give you with the maps, I'd be glad to give it. rpeh •TCE 01:06, 24 December 2010 (UTC)

I uploaded that image to show where two piles of rubbel blocked paths. If you don't think that it's making a new image, then feel free to revert it. Also, I can try to reupload it at a higher resolution if you prefer. For some reason paint appeared to shrink the image when I added the two dots to it. PS why is this box around my post?

--Pwnageincarnate 01:24, 24 December 2010 (UTC)Pwnageincarnate

If there's a real change to be made, then please make it - I simply couldn't tell what it was. The box was around your post because you started a line with a space. Do indentations with a ":" - it takes some getting used to, but the "Quick Editing Guide" link you got above should help. rpeh •TCE 01:35, 24 December 2010 (UTC)

A small favorEdit

Could you lower a bit the size of your "LOLWHAT?" image at your talk page? I know you have it there for fun, but it is a bit creepy seeing this guy looking at me like this every time I go to your userpage or your talk page. --Rigas Papadopoulos • TalkDeeds 23:37, 27 December 2010 (UTC)

lol sure thing, I changed it for the talk page, but do you want me to change it for my user page as well?--Pwnageincarnate 23:41, 27 December 2010 (UTC)Pwnageincarnate
No problem for your userpage, since I rarely visit it. Your talk page involves all your discussion. Thanks. --Rigas Papadopoulos • TalkDeeds 23:45, 27 December 2010 (UTC)

Fort FarragutEdit

Hey there! Just read through your recent walkthrough for Fort Farragut and came to the conclusion that it is more or less a "quest-related" walkthrough and the sentence containing "is frought with traps" is the only real description of the interior and what must be done. I realize it is a lot easier just going through the hole in the tree, but the rest of the fort still needs a description, as most of the walkthrough is already provided in the "overlong" Notes section. My suggestion is:

  • Merge some of the Notes with the walkthrough and make a simple mention that it is possible to enter through the tree.
  • Provide a walkthrough starting at Door C.
  • Compare the Notes and Walkthrough sections and make sure to avoid redundant info.

Good luck - if you don't want to add any more info to the page, please let me know. --Krusty 13:28, 28 December 2010 (UTC)

ok I'm on it--Pwnageincarnate 17:29, 28 December 2010 (UTC)Pwnageincarnate

Vandalism CountEdit

Is it really a good idea to have that? I mean it makes it seem like a game or a challenge, potentially drawing more vandals. I won't protest if you choose to keep it, I have no authority here and it's your account but I just don't think it's smart to try to antagonize the vandals. --Alpha Kenny Buddy 02:31, 22 January 2011 (UTC)

I really don't care if people vandalize my page, it only gets the perpetrators banned. I also think its kind of funny when people rage at me for deleting their innapropriate additions to the wiki. However, if it does end up drawing a ton of vandals, then I'll take your advice and remove it, but until then, I'll keep it up and running. --Pwnageincarnate 02:49, 22 January 2011 (UTC)Pwnageincarnate

SpamEdit

Please be careful calling edits like this spam. Spam is something quite different than adding nonsense (and in this instance, the nonsense is acceptable); admins look out for the word "spam" in edit summaries to block spambots, and it would be apreciated if you only include the word spam when it really is. -- Jplatinum16 22:08, 7 February 2011 (UTC)

I didn't realize that you could freely edit the main sandbox page, so it was my mistake with the quick revert. However, it does say that the sandbox will be reverted to keep it clean for others to use, so it was still an acceptable edit, which I presume is why you didn't revert it yet. Also, I was unaware of a strict defition of spam, and will use "nonsense" in the edit summary in the future to prevent any further catastrophes from distracting such a dedicated recent changes patroller as yourself. — Unsigned comment by Pwnageincarnate (talkcontribs) at 23:26 on 6 January 2011 (UTC)
(edit conflict) It was a perfectly fine revert, and I didn't revert it because I wasn't on at the time. For the sandbox, just saying you're cleaning it out for another user to use is usually the best way to go. There was no harm though, so don't worry too much about it -- Jplatinum16 23:06, 7 February 2011 (UTC)
Spam is advertising while nonsense is just... plain nonsense. Edits are also reverted due to "vandalism". While both spam and nonsense are forms of vandalism, I believe we generally use the term vandalism in case of text removals. Just making sure ~ Dwarfmp 23:00, 7 February 2011 (UTC)
Fact is, we encourage new users to experiment in our sandbox, even in our welcome message. A user writing "Yayayayayay" is definitely not spam and referring to it as spam could easily scare people away - or even worse, make them start experimenting on content pages instead. When reverting the Sandbox, simply type "cleanup" in the Edit Summary and everything is fine. --Krusty 23:05, 7 February 2011 (UTC)

GotchaEdit

You're the first, but I'm sure you won't be the last rpeh •TCE 23:35, 31 March 2011 (UTC)

5/10, but only because of the trust I formerly had for Krusty, and because I wouldn't expect him to upload fake news.--Pwnageincarnate 23:39, 31 March 2011 (UTC)Pwnageincarnate
It is normal. Even the big web portals do it. --Brf 23:42, 31 March 2011 (UTC)
5/10? It caught you, didn't it? It was a joint effort between K and me on IRC. UESP has done an April Fool for the past four years and this seemed like the obvious option. rpeh •TCE 00:08, 1 April 2011 (UTC)
5/10 because I trusted Krusty, which gave doubts to my theory that it was an April Fools joke.--Pwnageincarnate 01:05, 1 April 2011 (UTC)Pwnageincarnate
