TweaksEdit

I don't think removing information such as enemy levels and boss designations is a good idea. —Legoless (talk) 19:16, 23 April 2014 (GMT)

We never had this sort of thing in the text for Skyrim, even though the enemies level depended on the dungeon in many cases, and the dungeons all had bosses. It isn't "The shellcracker boss" for shipwreck strand. It is Shellcracker, a large mudcrab. There isn't more than one, it isn't a type of creature, it is a specific creature. You can say it is a boss, but saying it is "The dreugh matron boss" is just poor writing. And including the level of the creatures hasn't really ever been written in prose, but displayed in tables or infoboxes. Just set the level of the location to 7, since all the creatures there are level 7. Bam. That's how it's been done in the past, and there isn't a good reason why we shouldn't continue it with ESO. Jeancey (talk) 19:31, 23 April 2014 (GMT)
Also, the smaller crabs are called sandcrabs, but shellcracker is refered to as a mudcrab. In fact, they are all mudcrabs, as you can see from the achievement text, which specifically says mudcrab. Jeancey (talk) 19:32, 23 April 2014 (GMT)

() Again on the boss thing: in ESO bosses are distinct from other enemies. They have a different health bar, different loot tables, and are obviously a lot stronger. Instead of removing the designation, why not add it to the creature table or something? —Legoless (talk) 17:29, 5 May 2014 (GMT)

Your fixes on my NPC editsEdit

Hi Jeancey, i recognised that you go to each NPC page a while after I submitted it and fix it. As i'm doing some bulk work at the Skywatch NPCs atm., I would propose you wait until i'm done and then bring systematic mistakes (e.g. getting the store parameter right), to my attention. I will fix them myself then; that might be less enervating efford for you than hopping page by page after me. --The Nerevarine (talk) 19:59, 27 April 2014 (GMT)

I have no problems fixing it all myself :) I mean, I'm going to edit the page regardless to check for things, as I check every single edit made in the entire namespace, so I don't mind fixing it right then and there :) It isn't just you I'm checking after all. Jeancey (talk) 20:28, 27 April 2014 (GMT)

No more VN?Edit

Hey, sorry about that. Must have missed the memo. Guess I got some reading to do before making an official return, huh? :P ThuumofReason (talk) 18:21, 4 May 2014 (GMT)

It's fine. We aren't gonna remove them wholesale from the massive amounts of pages with them, but we don't need to add them to new bugs. Jeancey (talk) 18:24, 4 May 2014 (GMT)

Hi, can you take a look at the undo I just didEdit

As the title says, can you check the undo I just did to make sure I did it in the correct way, I've never done this before and am fairly new to looking on the recent changes pages as previously just looked on my watchlist page and am trying to become more active in supporting the site rather than just adding content in my own bubble. If you have any feedback or advice I'd gladly listen. I am reading the vandalism page at the mo. Thanks in advance. Biffa (talk) 13:58, 5 May 2014 (GMT)

Yeah, the undo was perfectly fine. It is likely a bot that added that gibberish. We get it occasionally. Usually, though, advice isn't needed for stuff like that, since it isn't a real person at the other end, but it isn't necessarily wrong to add it to the talk page. You did fine. :) Jeancey (talk) 14:00, 5 May 2014 (GMT)
Thanks. Biffa (talk) 14:05, 5 May 2014 (GMT)

Deleted RedirectEdit

Thanks for deleting the Image.jpg redirect. My mom called while I was just finishing up the move and by the time I got off the phone, I'd completely forgotten about it. Robin Hood  (talk) 19:12, 7 May 2014 (GMT)

No problem! :) Jeancey (talk) 19:13, 7 May 2014 (GMT)

Unhallowed LegionsEdit

Hey. Where does this book appear? Is it in ESO? Collection? --Jimeee (talk) 19:24, 9 May 2014 (GMT)

I wrote it! (kidding) They posted it online here. Jeancey (talk) 21:46, 9 May 2014 (GMT)

Can you help with {{Intnote}}?Edit

Hi I'm trying to add an intnote to a page and need to change the symbol to something different than the default, as that is aleady in use on the page, but I can't get it to show correctly. This is what I'm trying to add:

  1. A Silver Greatsword can also be used.

(I've copied the rest of the coding from the other intnote on the page) I've been trying to use # as the symbol, but whatever I do it either shows as the default cross or a black 1. I'm trying to add it to the atronach forge page for the random weapon, which still produces either warhammers or war axes. Any help appreciated. Thanks. Biffa (talk) 14:45, 12 May 2014 (GMT)

I don't actually know much about Intnote, but Hargrimm should be able to help. Jeancey (talk) 15:01, 12 May 2014 (GMT)
I had to familiarize myself with this template for a project that I started a year ago (and still haven't finished -.-). Anyways, use this sandbox as a reference. Hope it helps! •WoahBro►talk 15:04, 12 May 2014 (GMT)
(edit conflict) The problem is just that # is the wiki indicator for a numbered list, so the bold 1. is the wiki trying to make a list of one item out of your note. The simplest solution is to just use another symbol other than # for the note, like ‡ or ^, but if you want to use the #, just surround it with < nowiki > tags, like so:
#A Silver Greatsword can also be used.
You will also need to give the note a unique id in the first parameter location. Looks like the existing note on Atronach Forge just uses '1', so you could call yours 2 or whatever you'd like, just as long as the ids match between the intnote and note templates. -- Hargrimm(T) 15:09, 12 May 2014 (GMT)
(edit conflict × 2) Thought I'd drop in and see if I could be of help. First off, the reason # isn't working is because it's thinking you're starting a numbered list. This can be circumvented with <nowiki> tags, but what I would suggest using instead is ‡ or ††. You will also want to have a defined first parameter, otherwise they may not link together properly. So, for example: {{Note|Gtswrd|‡|A [[Skyrim:Silver Greatsword|Silver Greatsword]] can also be used.}}. Your intnote would be {{Intnote|Gtswrd|‡}}.
Post-EC: Yes I type too slowly. Looks like two others beat me to it :P --Enodoc (talk) 15:15, 12 May 2014 (GMT)
Thank you all. Biffa (talk) 17:27, 12 May 2014 (GMT)

Override TextEdit

Since you've disappeared from IRC, further to my question earlier, I'm thinking that if override text exists, we should do exactly what the name suggests and override the original text rather than listing both, as I had suggested. Looking at the sorted list, it looks to me like you'd want to do that in most cases (that first one making it very obvious). There are times like A Beginning at Bleakrock where the original may be more informative, or the one I already showed you where the original is very different from the override, but I think humans are going to have to deal with that, cuz I don't see any way for the bot to decide what to do in each case. Robin Hood  (talk) 20:55, 14 May 2014 (GMT)

MW Image RenamingEdit

Hey Jeancey, I finally got around to fixing the names of MW images for one of the bots to move. If you could do me a favor and check these out to make sure they're all correct, that'd be great! You can also make adjustments as needed. As soon as this is done, I'll hop over to the Bot Requests so this can finally be done. Thanks! •WoahBro►talk 15:19, 15 May 2014 (GMT)

The only thing I have an issue with is  . Just because it doesn't have links doesn't mean we should delete it. It is from the game, and it IS used in the game, we just don't have a page with it on it. Other than that, it seems fine. Jeancey (talk) 15:31, 15 May 2014 (GMT)
That was from the bot's preliminary run, not me lol. Anyways, thanks! •WoahBro►talk 15:51, 15 May 2014 (GMT)

Red linksEdit

I understand why you changed my edit on the quest ripple effect but shouldn't the red link at least be changed to normal text I think it would make the page look better? Lorenut (talk) 15:44, 19 May 2014 (GMT)

I didn't see the typo before. I fixed the typo, and now it is not a redlink. Jeancey (talk) 15:45, 19 May 2014 (GMT)

partial undoEdit

I'm sorry I didn't know. Lorenut (talk) 22:42, 21 May 2014 (GMT)

No worries. Just remember that the namespace is Online, and that the main page in that namespace is Online:Elder Scrolls Online. ESO is only for the shorthand (though against my personal objections). ESO shouldn't be used for any other purpose than that. Jeancey (talk) 22:45, 21 May 2014 (GMT)

historyEdit

Is the history section under wayrest even suppose to be there? Lorenut (talk) 05:46, 22 May 2014 (GMT)

Why wouldn't it be there? Jeancey (talk) 05:47, 22 May 2014 (GMT)
I just thought it was out of place that's all. Lorenut (talk) 05:57, 22 May 2014 (GMT)
It isn't out of place in lore at all... Jeancey (talk) 05:58, 22 May 2014 (GMT)
If your wondering I'm talking about the history under the wayrest in the lore places not the actual article.Lorenut (talk) 06:00, 22 May 2014 (GMT)
Oh. That. I can fix that. That's just someone being silly. Jeancey (talk) 06:01, 22 May 2014 (GMT)

auridonEdit

Me again sorry but then if summerset isles not in ESO then where is auridon? Lorenut (talk) 06:05, 22 May 2014 (GMT)

Summerset Isle (the island) is not in ESO. Also, none of the provinces have pages in the online namespace since technically, they don't exist at this point (no empire to be provinces of). So while the isles themselves exist, the province doesn't. Does that make sense? Jeancey (talk) 06:07, 22 May 2014 (GMT)
Now I understand didn't mean to cause any trouble thank you and my apologies. Lorenut (talk) 06:09, 22 May 2014 (GMT)
No worries at all. Jeancey (talk) 06:09, 22 May 2014 (GMT)

tweakEdit

If you don't mind me asking what did I do wrong? Lorenut (talk) 17:01, 22 May 2014 (GMT)

Nothing you did. It was already present before you edited. Jeancey (talk) 17:02, 22 May 2014 (GMT)
Oh ok I was worried. Lorenut (talk) 17:03, 22 May 2014 (GMT)

What to end a sentence with :)Edit

Just FYI, that rule that we've all been taught about not ending a sentence with a preposition? It's made up. :Þ Robin Hood  (talk) 02:18, 25 May 2014 (GMT)

I find it disappointing that you couldn't use a preposition to end your comment with. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 02:22, 25 May 2014 (GMT)
Hey, I got it in the section title. What more do you want? Robin Hood  (talk) 02:34, 25 May 2014 (GMT)
I never said that it was wrong. I stated a fact. He ended that sentence with a preposition. :P He also completely changed what the stated outcome of the quest was. Jeancey (talk) 06:27, 25 May 2014 (GMT)

The Coming of the Learned OneEdit

Zenimax must be trolling us. What a disastrous naming format. --Jimeee (talk) 15:40, 26 May 2014 (GMT)

You should see Mystery of Talara. Completely different naming format across all games lol. Jeancey (talk) 15:40, 26 May 2014 (GMT)

Unobtainable Skyrim clothing itemsEdit

Hey I see you re-added the articles of clothing I removed from the Skyrim's clothing page, I removed them after adding them to the Unobtainable Items page because I thought it was redundant to have them listed twice, that and other editors had already done the same.--StormySkies (talk) 08:39, 28 May 2014 (GMT)

Oh! I missed the edit where they were added to the Unobtainable Items page. I apologize. Jeancey (talk) 09:02, 28 May 2014 (GMT)

Why was this necessary?Edit

Why did you delete this category? Was it offending you? Was it taking up too much space on the server? Daric 21:28, 28 May 2014 (GMT)

It was proposed for deletion over a month ago and no one had opposed it in that time. Also, there is another category that will cover the same topic, and encompass all the other Collaboration categories. The fact that it had been proposed for a month and no one had outright opposed to it (RH wondered about how to change the editing allowed template, but that was it) was the main reason. I have no vested interest in the category, but anything proded for a week without any opposition can be deleted. Jeancey (talk) 22:09, 28 May 2014 (GMT)
Fair enough. However, I've only just come back to UESP after being away for a while. As you knew that I had been using that category, why not bring it to my attention first, rather than just editing my userspace page? Daric 22:51, 28 May 2014 (GMT)
I only knew about it AFTER I had deleted it, since I was cleaning up links. Generally, if something is proded, people using those pages or categories don't have to be informed (also, there wasn't anything IN the category). If something of yours was IN the category, I likely would have talked to you first. Jeancey (talk) 22:56, 28 May 2014 (GMT)
Oh well, ironic that it was a category about collaboration and cooperation though. 😲 Daric 23:04, 28 May 2014 (GMT)
Continuing the ironic theme of anti-collaboration, the negativity in your comments is unwelcome anywhere on this wiki. There is no rule against re-creating the category if you can show why it and the others like it are needed when there are categories already in existence for the purpose they were deleted for. You could even go so far as to request its undeletion, but that is an unnecessary step when there is nothing blocking you simply recreating it. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 23:25, 28 May 2014 (GMT)
Heck, I've only been back on UESP for a couple of days and you're stalking me already, "The Silencer". Must be a record. Daric 00:34, 29 May 2014 (GMT)
Maybe you need another break if you're going to continue this offensive attitude, which will ultimately lead to a ban as personal attacks usually result in insta-bans. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 00:44, 29 May 2014 (GMT)

() There's no reason to think he's stalking you. Many patrollers and admins watch each others' talk pages or the Recent Changes page and will see and respond to each others' edits. Robin Hood  (talk) 00:47, 29 May 2014 (GMT)

Game Info in LoreEdit

Image captions are outside the scope of lorespace's in-universe narrative (as are notes sections, etc). See Lore:Artifacts for examples of this. Adding the date parameters was something I started doing as part of the SIRP to add context to the images, but in the case of Sovngarde dates aren't really a big thing, so mentioning the games is a good way to distinguish the images. —Legoless (talk) 19:09, 2 June 2014 (GMT)

Is there any other way to distinguish it? Is there a reason we NEED to distinguish which game it comes from? From my extensive time editing in the lore space, I can't remember any images that have the game except for the few you added in the last week or so. The dates serve to indicate things that change over time, and I agree dates don't really make sense in the context of Sovngarde, but is there any other way to distinguish it? It just seems tacky and out of place. Jeancey (talk) 19:12, 2 June 2014 (GMT)
All of the artifact pages do it, as I linked above (e.g. Lore:Auriel's Shield). I can't see any other way of distinguishing them personally. —Legoless (talk) 19:18, 2 June 2014 (GMT)
I agree that it's tacky and doesn't fit the lore perspective, which is why I have been changing them when I have other reasons to be editing a page. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 19:22, 2 June 2014 (GMT)
Tacky or not, the images are game-specific themselves, so I don't see the issue. —Legoless (talk) 19:24, 2 June 2014 (GMT)
I have no opinion, but if someone would let me know if/when you reach a consensus, that would be great. Insignificant RevisionsThreatsEvidence 19:30, 2 June 2014 (GMT)
Personally, I prefer dates as it gives a more scholarly vibe that I feel should be present throughout the page.--Jimeee (talk) 19:35, 2 June 2014 (GMT)
I like the dates too, but I think it's agreed upon that they can't be used in this context. —Legoless (talk) 19:44, 2 June 2014 (GMT)
