Actually, yes, we do have a templated welcome message that we often use as a shortcut. The purpose of the message is to provide useful links to help them get the hang of things around here, plus it's kind of nice for us to have a quick way to welcome new users while we're also busy with other things ;). –Eshetalk 18:09, 15 April 2008 (EDT)
Welcoming Anonymous UsersEdit

Just so you know, we typically reserve the welcome messages for registered users and do not encourage giving welcome messages to anonymous IPs. Quite often that particular IP will have been used by several different people, which could make things awkward or complicated down the line if administrative actions need to be taken against that particular address. (There's actually an old conversation here that pretty much sums it up.) So thanks for reaching out to new users, but you're probably better off sticking to the ones who have actually registered ;). "Broken" ImagesEdit
There are a few problems with images at the moment, caused by mismatches between the two content servers we use. If you find a redlinked image, it probably means that there's a caching problem. Leave a message on my talk page or on the admin noticeboard and somebody will fix it by purging whichever copy is having trouble. Thanks. –rpeh•T•C•E• 20:03, 11 July 2009 (UTC)
