Research in the Deadlands gone awry

I found the corpse of Vinnus Reburrus next to an unsettling stone in the Deadlands. His last note said the mysterious stone was linked to Mehrunes Dagon's plans.

Detailed WalkthroughEdit

While exploring the Atoll of Immolation, accessible via Oblivion Portal events, you may come across Vinnus's Note, which is sitting next to his corpse. This can be found here, in the external space south of the island in the northwest corner. Reading this note will begin this quest.

In life, he was a member of the Fighters Guild who entered the Deadlands through a portal in search of a Rune-Etched Stone. He found the stone, but perished before he could escape with it. You can acquiesce to his final wishes by taking the stone and a Copy of Vinnus's Note to Orthus Pontanian in the Fighters Guild in Leyawiin.

Orthus was Vinnus's lover and will be saddened to hear the news. He will warily accept the stone from you and will give you a reward for bringing him the news.

NotesEdit

• You will need to start on the northwest outer island -- not the eastern or southern outer island -- from the Oblivion Portal. You must then hope that entering the portal to the second island takes you to the one to the south, not the one to the east. If you start on the wrong island, or get sent to the wrong secondary island, you'll need to leave the dungeon and find a different Oblivion Portal.
• The quest can technically be shared between players, but this isn't very useful, because you have to actually pick up an item from the island where the quest starts anyway.
• Vinnus, his note, and the stone will only be present if entering the Atoll of Immolation from Blackwood. Even if you have access to the Blackwood zone, none of them will be present if entering from the Deadlands.
