Large amounts of FAME
I just bought the Shivering Isles and after a couple of quests I decided to look at my stats. Out of nowhere my fame was 1258! i had no idea what happened. — Unsigned comment by 75.92.111.187 (talk) at 20:06 on 25 October 2011

Armor/ Weapon sound gone!
This is not a bad glitch but quite annoying. During The great gate, all the sounds for running, attacking and drawing/sheathing your weapon suddenly went away. Am i the only one to have experienced this and is there a solution??? Pleas help as its very annoying!
- The sound went away for me too, except it was for drawing a bow, pulling back the string etc.
I went into the options menu and turned all the sound options to zero then played for a few seconds with no sound and then reversed it. After that it worked fine. It's probably worth a shot.RIM 18:56, 28 October 2011 (UTC)
Linear Floating Glitch
I was making my way into the Aylied Ruin Nornal to get a dead drop note but I couldn't access a door. I realised then that I was floating, as I tried to walk down the stair case I would just stay on the one level. I decided to have a little fun with this and walked all the way to the Imperial City (floating about as high as the city walls are). As I walked I would get hurt just as if I was falling down hills; I had to use a lot of potions on the way there.
As I got closer to the city I realised it wasn't all there... The walls were but all of the shops and houses had completely disappeared as well as the streets. The Imperial Palace was still there and I could walk inside it but as I did I could see outside. I tried fast travelling to the Arcane University, once it had finished loading I was on the ground again. I was a little disappointed but as I started walking again I noticed the glitch was still present only I wasn't floating so I high; I was stuck on the same level I loaded onto.
My brother suggested I should go to the Temple of the One (at this point I hadn't finished the campaign on this character) and try to glitch my way to the end of the campaign; It'd been done before with paint brushes. I got to the Temple of the One and glitched through the wall, there were two doors one where the door is supposed to be and the other, three quarters into the ground. I clicked on the one three quarters into the ground and when it loaded I was in the Temple of the One but the lighting was red. I went outside and what do you know? It was the last quest in the main campaign! The quest updated and popped up, I looked on the quest map - Martin was still all the way in Cloud Ruler Temple... I went back in the temple and the quest updated again and Martin appeared. I won't spoil what happens next for anyone who hasn't completed the campaign. The game had stopped glitching since I loaded into the temple and was fixed ever since. Now when I access the saves I made during the glitch I fall to the ground or I fall into the building I was standing on or in and become stuck inside it.
Never seen or heard of this glitch before. Once thing that distinguishes it from other glitches is that it happened while in the outside world, with no known trigger and that I can't move vertically. As a disclaimer this glitch is unlike the one where you jump from a city gate. The whole world was loaded until I got to the city of which I understand was not loaded itself.

Vampire Cure quest glitch for PS3
I am at the point in the game of looking for a cure for vampirism(Vampire Cure quest). I went to the quest giver and did the first part. Got the instructions for the second part and proceeded. Now along the poing of gathering all the items needed for the potions this quest giver was supposed to make, I did several save points. I did this because I had tried this quest before and the same thing had happened. So I figured go back and try again, maybe I did something wrong. So I took my second approach and got everything I needed, but the same problem occured. The quest giver would not accept Bloodgrass from my character, which was needed to start making the potions. I had bought some from a vendor and picked some in an oblivion gate, figuring she might want fresh not bought. But still neither produst was accepted. This quest is already long enough looking for the items, so to get to this point and not get any farther is very very very frustrating. Is there anyway around this glitch, or another way to cure being a vampire after you feed and start having these dreams? Please help.
The problem I think your experiencing is discussed on the page for the quest. If you using GOTY then the only way is to go to the house with the bloodgrass, save, change system language to German, give the bloodgrass, then do whatever. This resets the SI and will cause major glitches if you've starting A Better Mousetrap. If you can use plain Oblivion, uninstall the SI expansion and give the bloodgrass before reinstalling. This will reset SI but not cause major glitches. Pacmam the great 18:59, 15 December 2011 (UTC)
Horn Cave Grottoes Cave-In Glitch
As I was passing through the section that caves in, when the rocks fell on me they never landed properly... I was trapped in between two large boulders and while I could move (I wasn't frozen, but I could look around and jump) , the whole screen continued shaking as the rocks tried to settle (that's what I imagine was happening anyway). I don't know if I just happened to be standing in the exact WRONG spot that was covered, but I was against the wall on the left and had stopped as the cave in happened because a Scamp was behind me and I turned around to shoot it not knowing what was going on... I had to exit and re-enter the game though. I wasn't just trapped between two large rocks where you could normally eventually get out, the perpetually shaky screen and my research into the area (the cave in is just supposed to cause damage) lead me to believe this could be a glitch in the game.
- Well, considering it's only supposed to cause damage... do you know how we can duplicate this? 82.7.83.64 16:46, 3 December 2011 (UTC)

- Like falling through the map or getting stuck in the map, this is a common problem caused by the physics of the game. It's not reliably reproducible, but it'll happen once in a blue moon. It's very annoying. :) – Robin Hood↝talk 06:55, 31 December 2011 (UTC)
Fighting Skills Training
A glitch which can train marksman and other skills involving shooting, possibly blade and blunt if you have a long enough weapon. If you get a bounty, yield to the guards while the attack you but aren't close enough to open dialoge, you can attack them to train without getting into a fight. It is also somewhat amusing as guards will say stuff that citizens do when there is an attack (By the Nine Divines! Assault! Assualt!). However it is worth noting each attack counts as an assualt, causing your bounty to skyrocket, so the Gray Cowl of Nocturnal or a lot of money is recommended.Pacmam the great 18:39, 15 December 2011 (UTC)
Discovery of New Patch Bypass
After studying the permanent bound armor patch; i discovered the patch could not cover if you damage the bound item then repair it then use the scroll duplication method i could then wait until the timer went away and then pick up the item.--Har1935 19:39, 17 December 2011 (UTC)
Shivering Isles Bone arrow/Gatekeeper Quest
I've ran into a pretty serious bug when I'm trying to get the bone arrows in order to kill the gatekeeper.
First of all, the game freezes ALOT when I'm anywhere near Jayred Ice-Veins. I think it may have something to do with the fact that he's really fast, I don't know. Anyway, so I follow him to the Garded of Flesh and Bone, we kill the 3 monsters inside, and then I look over to him and sometimes he's lying on the ground as if dead, however life detect shows him as still living. You can go over and "talk" to him as if he was still standing up, even if you tell him to "lead on", he will just continue to stay laying on the ground forever and you can't complete the quest. Something else strange can happen, after you kill the 3 monsters, he starts to walk over to the dead gatekeeper like he's supposed to, and then right when he's about 3 feet away, he will stop moving, and wiggle his hips as if he was trying to walk, but obstructed. Even if you try to talk to him, it doesn't seem to fix anything. You can attack him, push him, and nothing seems to fix the issue.
Also, If you try to tell him to wait and you go and kill the monsters yourself, on your way back to him, the game freezes EVERY time in a random spot.
The game also freezes if you try and pickpocket him after he's "lying down", not asleep, and you can still talk to him as described above. My idea was that if I pickpocket his bone arrows, I might not need him for the quest at all. This doesn't work either, the game also freezes here in a random spot when your leaving the garden.
So far the only workable solution to my problem is to revert to a previous save, and try again. This isn't the first character I had that had this bug, but trying over and over eventually will get you past this part.
As far as I can tell, no one else has posted this pretty serious bug. — Unsigned comment by 71.23.108.222 (talk) on 30 December 2011

K'vatch Vanishes (360)
Upon entering the destroyed city of K'vatch, there are no buildings or creatures/NPCs (living or dead), the sky is an odd shape of purple-blue, and attempting to walk to the edge of the area you are standing on results in this disc being unable to be read. This has also occured in the Garden of Mania in SI.
- Somehow, you've either gone over the wall or clipped through it or something. Either that or you've got a bad disc. In these cases, it won't load the interior of Kvatch, and you'll get exactly the symptoms you describe. – Robin Hood↝talk 06:52, 11 February 2012 (UTC)
Character Suddenly Falling Down and Not Getting Up For Several Seconds
My character in the 360 version will every once in a while fall down like he got paralyzed and stay on the ground for several seconds. It happens just every once in a while when I'm not in combat, but happens a lot when im in combat, almost always after a customized self fortifying spell (EX: sheild %50 for 30 secs) ends. This is really troublesome as when I'm fighting, my character will just drop and not move for several seconds, allowing the enemy to just wail on me until I get up. The only way to avoid this is to take health potions until you get up and run away or heal myself. This has only started happening in the last 10-20 hours of my over 100 hour game. Anyone have an explanation for this?
- Are you sure this isn't your fatigue? Because if that goes to something like -15 your character will pass out, just like the Paralyse effect and when it hits 0 your character will regain consciousness. "You can be knocked down during combat as the result of a powerful blow from an opponent". This would explain whatever is happening being more frequent in combat. Watch your fatigue... you'll probably find that's the answer... -- AcE x EPiiCzZ 14:27, 20 August 2012 (UTC)
Anvil Oblivion Gate glitch
For some reason, when I go to take the descendant stone from the tower, it doesn't give me the option to take it. Is there a specific reason why? I don't know if there is an open quest I must complete or what. PLEASE HELP!
- This is a known bug that can occasionally happen with any Sigil Stone. As far as I know, the only way to work around it is to load a game from before entering the Oblivion gate and try again. – Robin Hood↝talk 02:21, 25 January 2012 (UTC)
yellow patch?
i need help my sisters playing oblivion IV on ps3 and theres this weird yellow patch over one of the towers in anvil its transparent and when she tries to look at it the whole screen goes black can i get help??
- If it's roughly shaped like a star, that means you're missing textures. On a PS3, that could be a sign of a bad disk or a corrupted game. To determine which is which, the best bet would be to load an old save (or start a new game) and fast travel to Anvil and see if the problem still occurs. If it does, it's probably a bad disk. If it doesn't, then it's the saved game that's corrupted - you'll have to figure out when the problem started and go back to that point and re-play. – Robin Hood↝talk 01:16, 14 February 2012 (UTC)
Martins not following!
im up to the quest with lord dagon and the objective is to get martin to the tower of the one so he can defeat vagon but martin doesnt follow me through the door to the part of the city with the tower in it. i dont know what happened but i cant finish the quest or do anything while im stuck there. is there a way i can get martin to follow me so i can finish this quest???? — Unsigned comment by 119.11.3.76 (talk) at 07:51 on 20 February 2012
- Try making your way to the temple anyway. If he doesn't appear as soon as you enter the temple, wait 24 hours. If that doesn't do it, you may have to do that part of the quest again. For more info, see Light the Dragonfires. – Robin Hood↝talk 10:16, 20 February 2012 (UTC)
Permanently disable respawning or Essential NPCS without the Console.
I'm sure there are a lot of people aware of Summitmist Manor's door glitch, which prevents NPCs from exiting the building. Well, I took this glitch, and exploited it to the logical extreme, by locking up every single City Guard, Imperial Legion Soldier, and Imperial Legion Forrester I can find inside it. So far I've locked up all of the Guards in the cities, and nearly half of the Imperial Legion Soldiers on the roads.
While I did this, I noticed something: Whenever I had a large amount of Guards locked up in the building, I would kill them (good thing I had 100% Reflect Damage permanently applied to my character, via the permanent enchantments glitch), and occasionally, some of them began to vanish before my eyes as they lay dead in a pile, and they never respawn again. This is caused by the overly large amount of NPCs stuck inside the building, and the game decides that in order to prevent lagging, it sometimes disables certain NPCs from the game. This has also happened with certain Essential NPCs that I locked up with the Guards, including Janus Hassildor, Hal-Liurz, M'aiq the Liar, Adirenne Berene, and Erina Jeranus. Interestingly enough, even when they are all disabled, they are still referenced by other NPCs in conversation as if they were still there.
Although in other cases, this seems to break potential quests quite a bit: I infected myself with Vampirism, cured myself via the Vile Lair plug-in, and started the Vampire Cure quest after Hassildor and Hal-Liurz were both disabled and after climbing around the Skingrad Castle walls to the door leading to the Chamber of the Lost to prematurely kill Rona. Now when I speak to Raminus Polus, he has no topics related to Vampirism, even when the current stage of the quest has explicitly told me to speak to him about it. I went into the sanguine siggiliun took the stone and then the blinding thing happened (white screen) and then the circle around it tilted to the left the chains went loose and it was added to my inventory and i was NOT taken back to the gate!!!! why not i've tried 1000000 times but it never works?Bringy 04:10, 29 March 2012 (UTC)
leveling glitch
i found on youtube that you could level up without metting the requrments. alls you have to do is have two charcters you need one that can level up. with the charcter that can level up sleep for 24 hours, after one hour passes push start then load the other charcter. the level up screen will apppear. so far i have done this 26 times with a new charcter (im level 26 on the first day) i have not fought the mithic dawn yet but i belevie they should have better weapons (maybe) Still not sure though. ok tried to fight mythic dawn they dont have better weapons.I contuined the process and have a play time of 1 hour and i am level 132 now. I have 1080 health and strenght and luck maxed, endurance speed and personality at 90, wilpower agility and intellagence is at 82. you can use this glitche to level up fast at the start of the game or spend 20-some hours to get to only level twenty three.-tyranoplauge — Unsigned comment by 204.185.65.125 (talk) on 12 April 2012
+ 50 acrobatics
I was doing the quest through a nightmare darkly and I had just done the quest to get the boots of spring heel jack and I had them on when I entered the quest. So I finished the quest and it would not let me put the boots back on. anvil oblivion gate glitch
hey i am just redoing the oblivion gam e again because i fancied trying to do different things and am in the oblivion gate at anvil am in the obscure cave which should take me up to the next gate but the third door i have found keeps saying it leads to nowhere how can i get get to the top of the mountain if i cannot active the door??— Unsigned comment by 82.29.215.64 (talk) on 26 April 2012
- If I understand you correctly, you're at the gate right outside Anvil, which means you're in Random Oblivion World 7. The Nether Tunnels there leads you to a Random Oblivion Cave, which is where you're having trouble, right? I'm guessing the problem you're having is this:
- In some worlds it is possible to enter a random cave system from either end, which can cause some glitchy behavior. Since the game randomly selects a cave section when entering the door that leads to the next section, the full sequence is only completed when you follow the entire sequence from begin to end. So if you interrupt the sequence, and instead return to the surface and enter the cave sequence from the other end an issue will arise. Instead of entering the first cave sequence from the other, as you would expect, a new sequence is started. This will result in both sequences having a dead-end, which is problematic if a sequence holds a cave section that requires you to drop down (one way), as you cannot go back. When you reach the dead-end, the final door will not lead you back to the surface and a simple message stating that "This door leads nowhere" will appear.
- Sound about right? If that's the problem you're having, I would try going back to see if there's another way up--maybe outside, by jumping or climbing if your Acrobatics skill is high. Otherwise, the article says the bug is fixed by the Unofficial Oblivion Patch, so I would try that. eshetalk 16:46, 26 April 2012 (UTC)
yes sounds about right i think i even found another door but it took me ages to get to it with the struggling of jumping and climbing to get to it but i still cannot understand why it would just say "this door leads knowhere" kind of odd donjt you think?? — Unsigned comment by 82.29.215.64 (talk) on 26 April 2012

Infinite money glitch:Vampire reward
When you complete the quest to cure vampirism on oblivion, there is a way to get infinite money(at least on the 360). When you complete the quest and go to collect the reward from the Count of skingrad, don't stop pressing the reward topic. You get the set amount of reward money every time you go through the topic.
