Jollring

Jollring is a Nord agent in the service of a wealthy Altmer named Umbacano, and can be found in Umbacano's manor in the Imperial City Talos Plaza District. Once you sell an Ayleid statue, he will find you in whichever city you are in with an invitation for you to visit Umbacano, thus starting the quest The Collector.

Incredibly dutiful and loyal to his master, Jollring never leaves Umbacano Manor and stoically repeats the same routine every day. After waking up at 8am, he positions himself in the lounge on the ground floor and spends the next twelve hours welcoming adventurers and looking through their inventories for interesting artifacts. At 8pm, he will seek out his master and watch over him while he takes his dinner. When Umbacano heads to bed at 10pm, Jollring finally sits down and enjoys a two-hour dinner before his bedtime at midnight.

Jollring wears a set of upper class clothing consisting of a green brocade doublet, green silk garment and a pair of green velvet shoes. He carries the key to Umbacano's Manor and a large amount of gold. Jollring knows a leveled set of agent spells.

There are two ways to attract Jollring's attention. If you visit Umbacano Manor during the day, he will seek you out himself and say: "Jollring, the butler. I've served Master Umbacano for many years." When asked about Umbacano he will describe his obsessed master: "My master, Umbacano, is known across Cyrodiil as a collector of Ayleid antiquities. He is always interested in rare artifacts from that era. Why, do you have something of interest to my master?" If you confirm, he will ask: "Really? May I see it, please?" If you have no artifacts in your inventory, it is only possible to ask him to see Umbacano in person. This will make Jollring say: "My master trusts me to decide what to show him, I'm afraid." If you have any artifact but the desired item in your inventory he will reject you an audition: "How interesting. I'm sure the curio shops in the Market District would be glad to give you a fair price for this. Unfortunately, my master is only interested in the rarest and most unique Ayleid artifacts to add to his collection." If you instead show him an Ayleid Statue, Jollring will be much less patronizing: "I believe my master would be interested in speaking to you right away. If you'll just follow me." Additionally, if you manage to talk to Jollring while he is eating he will be interested but will ask you to come back the next day: "I believe my master would be very interested in this item. However, it is too late to disturb him. If you'll return in the morning, I'm sure he will be glad to speak to you."

The other way to meet Jollring is to sell one of the Ayleid Statues to a merchant. This will cause him to hunt you down in all the big cities in Cyrodiil, hand you an invitation, and politely say: "Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Jollring. I come on behalf of my master, Umbacano. He asked me to deliver this note. I believe it is an invitation to visit him at his manor in the Imperial City." When asked to elaborate, Jollring will add: "My master is a collector of Ayleid antiquities. It has come to his attention that you recently sold an item that interests him. I believe the note will give you all the details." When asked about Umbacano, he will provide a description: "My master, Umbacano, lives in the Talos Plaza District of the Imperial City. He is known across Cyrodiil as a collector of Ayleid antiquities." Once you arrive in Umbacano Manor, provided you visit between 8am and 8pm, his greeting will be quite different: "Welcome. My master instructed me to show you up immediately. Please follow me."

From this point forward, Jollring will lead you to Umbacano each and every time you visit and will change his greeting to a more hospitable: "Good to see you again, sir/ma'am. Shall I escort you upstairs to see my master?" If you say 'yes' he will break off his routine with a simple: "Very good. Please follow me." He will then head up the stairs and patiently wait at you. If approached he will repeat: "If you'll just follow me, I will take you directly to my master." At all times, visiting him after Umbacano's bedtime at 10pm will cause him to say: "I'm sorry, but my master is not receiving visitors at this hour. If you come back in the morning, I'm sure he would be glad to see you."

After the quest Secrets of the Ayleids, the dutiful butler will stand guard as always, even if he somehow expects never to see Umbacano again. When asked about Umbacano, a concerned Jollring will admit: "My master has not returned from his expedition to Nenalata. I fear the worst, but Umbacano Manor remains in my charge, and I will keep it in readiness for his return."
