Faction OverviewEdit

Shouldn't be here an overview of the factions like the other lore articles? --Ilaro 18:15, 14 May 2012 (UTC)

Yes. In the lore guidelines, I described "Factions" as "any named association of people not covered in one of the other categories." It's pretty broad, catch-all category, but I think we should flesh it out a bit better here. I'll make a draft in a sandbox.
One issue I'd like to be perfectly clear, though, is whether families/clans count as factions, and if so, where exactly we draw the line for inclusion in the lore. There doesn't seem to be much guidance on the subject. We have faction pages for some families in the Skyrim namespace, such as Skyrim:Battle-Born and Skyrim:Gray-Mane, and I presume they would be "lore-worthy" if families can be included, but what about the Cruel-Seas, who apparently don't have a Skyrim faction page? Anyways, we already have some similar articles in the lore pages, such as Lore:Direnni, which has been around since 2008. So there's some reason to think that prominent families can count as factions, but I'm hesitant to declare that without some consensus. Minor EditsThreatsEvidence 18:07, 10 October 2012 (GMT)
I finished a first draft; anyone who's interested can go ahead and makes changes there and/or comment here. Minor EditsThreatsEvidence 19:27, 10 October 2012 (GMT)

Faction ListingsEdit

I notice that not all factions in Category:Lore-Factions are listed in the alphabetical listings Lore:Factions A-Z. Is this an oversight, or are there specific reasons for their non-inclusion? So far I have noticed Lore:Camoran Dynasty, Lore:Crowns, Lore:Direnni, Lore:Elder Council, Lore:Forebears and Lore:Glenmoril Wyrd are missing from their respective indices C-G. --Enodoc (talk) 13:43, 13 March 2013 (GMT)

Well, I know that I personally changed Direnni, Crowns and Forebears from being categorized as races to being correctly categorized as factions, so that was just an oversight on my part. Feel free to add any to the indices that you find are missing :) Jeancey (talk) 14:16, 13 March 2013 (GMT)
Yes  Done. I added the missing ones :P Let me know if there are any I missed. Jeancey (talk) 15:15, 13 March 2013 (GMT)
Oh, cool :) Guess I won't be doing that now then :)   I'll carry on with the alphabetising within the pages though. --Enodoc (talk) 17:49, 13 March 2013 (GMT)
I've added Rourken, added some details to Syffim on S, and noticed that the Ice Tribes are still missing. That page needs its transclusions edited before it can be added though. Any standard guidelines on how much should be transcluded from a page? --Enodoc (talk) 18:10, 13 March 2013 (GMT)
In general, it should be no more than four, medium size at max, paragraphs. Jeancey (talk) 18:12, 13 March 2013 (GMT)

eso factionsEdit

Should I begin adding in factions from eso like bloodthorn cult and supernal dreamers? Lorenut (talk) 19:10, 20 May 2014 (GMT)

Daedra but not falmer?Edit

Why are factions of daedra included in this list, but not primitive factions like the falmer? I can understand that from a gameplay perspective a being you can hold a conversation with is considered more human than one you generally can't understand, but from the lore perspective this article should be written in, isn't a group of civilized snow elves more similar to a group of primitive falmer than to a group of daedra? Patata (talk) 06:01, 1 February 2019 (UTC)

The falmer are not a faction, they are a race. If you know of any factions within the falmer or Snow Elves you can propose/add them. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 19:13, 1 February 2019 (UTC)
The last paragraph of the overview uses Falmer as an example of races that can't have their groups be called factions, but if you held me at gunpoint and told me I had to think of a Falmer faction, I'd probably say the Betrayed (although that's almost as much a faction of the civilized Snow Elves, as it is of the corrupted Falmer that the Betrayed would become) Patata (talk) 20:59, 1 February 2019 (UTC)
I didn't see that creature factions weren't listed. Our lore recognizes a distinction between the two, listing falmer as creatures and Snow Elves as the race. Like goblins, any falmer factions would be listed on their page, while any Snow Elf factions would be listed. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 22:12, 1 February 2019 (UTC)
