The Wrath of Sithis refers to the mysterious punishment threatened by The Five Tenets of the Dark Brotherhood. It is a spirit of vengeance that acts as a conduit for Sithis' wrath, targeting Dark Brotherhood members that break one of the Five Tenets.[1][2] It often takes the appearance of a gloom wraith,[2][3][4] or a shadowy ghost.[5]
The Wrath of Sithis is said to be a worse punishment than expulsion for traitors of the Brotherhood. The spirit has been known to take the very souls of its targets.[6][7][8] Those who have been exiled from the Dark Brotherhood will be allowed to rejoin if they survive a visit from the Wrath of Sithis.[1] This can only occur twice; individuals become forever exiled if they break one of the Tenets a third time, even if they manage to slay the spirit.[9]
In addition to the curses and magical attacks typical of other gloom wraiths, the Wrath of Sithis typically wields an enchanted silver dagger known as the Dagger of Discipline. These daggers can be claimed by those who defeat the spirit and survive its visitations.[2][10]
HistoryEdit
The list of the spirit's victims include the Black Dragon, a former Silencer who betrayed the Brotherhood and assassinated many of its members on behalf of the Order of the Hour. Following her defeat in 2E 582, her soul was claimed by Sithis and dragged into the Void by his Wrath.[7]
The Hero of Kvatch may or may not have slain the Wrath of Sithis one or more times in 3E 433.[1][11][9]

- It is possible that the appearance of the Wrath of Sithis has something to do with a summoning ritual known as the "Rite of Penance", a mysterious rite of the Dark Brotherhood said to summon something worse than an assassin.[12]
