Safe ContainersEdit
Could I ask why exactly you are adding information about safe containers to the Oblivion store pages? No one has requested this information, and no one has posted having any trouble with them. Secondly, why would you store items here anyway? These stores get locked at night, meaning half the time you would have to commit a crime, breaking in, just to get to your items! -Itachi 13:24, 6 February 2010 (UTC)
I know, it seems to be a nonsense, but I saw the sentence in both pages "needs further information about safe containers". I'm still quite confused. Sorry, I'm newbie. Nemmchen 13:30, 6 February 2010 (UTC)
- That's fine. Maybe the information would be better placed in a different section at the end, with a bullet point for each container/set of containers, instead of interspersed amongst the main body of text. -Itachi 13:32, 6 February 2010 (UTC)

- Thank you, I'll try to do so. Nemmchen 13:38, 6 February 2010 (UTC)
Welcome!Edit
Hello Nemmchen! Welcome to UESPWiki. It's always good to have new members. If you would like to help improve any of our pages, you may want to take a look at the following links:
- Policies and Guidelines: UESPWiki standards and expectations
- Quick Editing Guide: a quick guide to wiki markup
- Getting Started: how you can help
If you, on the other hand, would like to spice up your userpage, take a look at this link:
- Userboxes: near complete list of userboxes, including a guide to make your own
When you're editing, it's always a good idea to leave edit summaries to explain the changes you have made to a particular page, and remember to sign your talk page posts with four tildes ~~~~. Also, the "show preview" button is a great way to view the changes you've made so far without actually saving the page (our patrollers really appreciate it!).
Feel free to practice editing in the sandbox and don't hesitate to contact one of our mentors if you need any help. Have fun!
And also, thanks for CS verifying those store pages. It is really apreciated and the pages really need the info. Don't be afraid to add info to a page; if it needs tweaking or editing the other members around here will make sure its up to UESP code. About adding safe containers, it is generally a good idea to add it to the paragraphs themselves, like you have been doing. It makes the info flow easily, so we don't really need a bullet point for each container. Keep up the good work! -- Jplatinum16 14:07, 6 February 2010 (UTC)
Good Job!Edit
Hey! Well done with all the hard work you've been doing. I've only looked at Oblivion:Decentius Opsius so far, but it looks like you've got most of it right. Just a few points about what I corrected:
- Flow. At the moment, you're schedules are a bit... hard to read. I've made some changes to them, so use that and other schedules to help you. Unfortunately, this kind of stuff only comes with time; but no worries, it will come.
- AI packaging. Not sure if you're completely familiar with this, but I have a few tips considering what I saw on the Opsius page:
- It's always good to see where exactly is the 'marker' for each package. You can easily do this by double-clicking on a package, selection 'Location' and then 'View Location'. Radius is also important. For example for Opsius it's 2000, which is pretty large; meaning he'll wander all the way from the North Gate to the docks and possibly outside the Station too
- When NPCs have conflicting packages, such as Opsius' lunch and second patrolling, the one further 'up' the list gets chosen first. You may know this already since your schedule was correct here
- When NPCs don't have anything to do two things may happen: they either stand still until the next package kicks in or they choose a package with 'Any' time and 'None' duration (usually found at the bottom of the list). Most of these have 'Editor Location' and a radius so we have to use a bit of inventive. In Opsius' case, since the package name contains 'Home Owner' it's likely that he wanders inside the Station
- Linking. Not really important, but you can do direct links to armor pieces/weapons (e.g. ob:Steel Greaves). Also, remember to link your name in the tag at the top of the page
All in all, good job and keep up the great work! --SerCenKing Talk 16:03, 7 February 2010 (UTC)
- Thank you! I'll do my best. You're right, I don't know too much about packages (especially 'Any' time and 'None' duration, I've always felt myself confused with them). I'll also try to improve descriptions of schedules (it seems to me that my word stock and knowledge of syntax aren't enough). And thanks again, I didn't know about direct linking too. - No problem, from personal experience, I know it's better to get these things right immediately :) --SerCenKing Talk 16:57, 7 February 2010 (UTC)
Raelynn the Gravefinder ImageEdit
The second one you uploaded was much better than the first; again, if you don't mind, I have a few tips:
- For hostile NPCs, like Raelynn, try to get an action shot like in your second version (see here and here for great images by rpeh).
- It's also generally better to get a more zoomed-in image than the current Realynn one (see examples)
- Finally, the radiation green of a light spell kind of ruins a shot. I use this mod and the dim white texture to fix that
Sorry to bother again! --SerCenKing Talk 21:24, 7 February 2010 (UTC)
- Oh, thank you very much indeed for these tips! I love doing screenshots, so they are absolutely useful for me! Nemmchen 21:39, 7 February 2010 (UTC)
A few additional ONPCRP tipsEdit
Hey Nemmchen! Thanks for all your hard work on the ONPCRP – like SerC said above, it is very much appreciated and we can use all the help we can get. I would like to add some additional tips and tricks to the strange world of NPC writing. I’m taking a wild guess, but I think you have been looking at the project page for inspiration on how to write. You should know that the project has evolved a lot since then (and the project page is being rewritten) and that we now aim to write the pages a bit more in-depth and “personal”. This basically means that we gather all the information we can find on a specific NPC (the unique dialogue, the rumors, quest involvement, everything we can find) and then build up a bit of “personality” to the NPCs. There are lots of written examples, so I will just pick one: The Gilgondorin page. All the facts here are based on rumors and quest involvement and it provides the page with a bit of spice – instead of a bare-bones page about an innkeeper who eats once a day. Personally, I find this bit of research to be the funniest part of the ONPCRP and I hope you will do the same. Of course, you will have to base your writing on actual facts found in the game – but since you have the CS you should have no problem doing just that. The reason you receive this message now is that you just did Olfand. And he is known for being married to the most drunken Nord in Bruma, namely Skjorta. And the townsfolk can't understand why he lets her get away with it. All funny facts, that would make the Olfand page a lot more interesting – and the process of writing the page much more fun. Keep up the good work! --Krusty 22:22, 8 February 2010 (UTC)
