Welcome!Edit

Hello AlphaAbsol! Welcome to UESPWiki! It's always good to have new members. If you would like to help improve any of our pages, you may want to take a look at the following links:

If you would like to spice up your userpage, click here for a list of userboxes you can use, including a guide to making your own.

When you're editing, it's always a good idea to leave edit summaries to explain the changes you have made to a particular page, and remember to sign your talk page posts with four tildes ~~~~. Also, the "show preview" button is a great way to view the changes you've made so far without actually saving the page (our patrollers really appreciate it!).

Feel free to practice editing in the sandbox or discuss the games on the forums. If you need any help, don't hesitate to contact one of our mentors. Have fun! - KINMUNETALK﴿ 06:05, 14 September 2016 (UTC)

Thanks for welcoming me! --AlphaAbsol (talk) 10:23, 14 September 2016 (UTC)

Skyrim StubsEdit

Hey AlphaAbsol, thanks for helping out with those Skyrim articles! I noticed you've removed a few {{stub}} tags, which would usually be the correct thing to do when a page is no longer a stub. However, those tags are actually being used to mark incomplete Skyrim articles currently, so it might be best to leave them alone in that namespace for now. Thanks! —Legoless (talk) 21:42, 14 September 2016 (UTC)

Thanks for telling me, I've noted that. I've also asked a question about this on your talk page. -AlphaAbsol (talk) 08:05, 15 September 2016 (UTC)

Welcoming UsersEdit

Hey there AlphaAbsol! Just wanted to let you know that we hold off on giving users the welcome message until they've made at least one or two edits. This is so we know that they're not just a bot since we get a lot of those. It's not a big deal by any means, just something for your information. Happy editing! •WoahBro►talk 11:34, 16 September 2016 (UTC)

Alright, I'll make sure to do that! -AlphaAbsol (talk) 20:20, 16 September 2016 (UTC)

Great work!Edit

Hey AlphaAbsol! Just wanted to say you have been doing an awesome job around the wiki lately! Your edits to grammar and additions of info checked in game data have been really helpful and accurate. Keep it up! A couple small notes, though: 1) On NPC pages, when filling out outfit information, it would help to add specific clothing links. Instead of [[Skyrim:Boots|boots]], add [[Skyrim:Boots#00080699|boots]] so it highlights the exact icon used in the table on the linked page. See the outfit links on Skyrim:Hod for an example. 2) For the SHRP, please label any containers as either "respawning" or "non-respawning" before marking the page as "checked" for the project. See Skyrim:Severio Pelagia's House for an example. Anyway, I don't want this to come across as nitpicky—you are making awesome improvements to Skyrim pages, so definitely keep doing what you're doing! Just a couple minor things that can improve those pages further. :) Thanks, and have a great day! — ABCface 00:45, 27 September 2016 (UTC)

Thanks for the feedback! I'll definitely keep all these things in mind and make sure to do them in the future :D - AlphaAbsol (talk) 00:49, 27 September 2016 (UTC)

Userspace PatrollerEdit

Per your request, you now have userspace patroller rights. Enjoy! If you wish, you can add a {{User Userspace Patroller}} box to your user page. Robin Hood  (talk) 19:09, 28 September 2016 (UTC)

Thank you! AlphaAbsol (talk) 19:56, 28 September 2016 (UTC)

ArchivingEdit

Looks like you're busy doing some much-needed archiving. Just let me know when you're done and I'll run the bot to protect all of them. Robin Hood  (talk) 21:56, 28 September 2016 (UTC)

Will do, thanks. AlphaAbsol (talk) 21:58, 28 September 2016 (UTC)
Alright, I'm done archiving for now, and I've done around 60% of the Skyrim talk pages that need archiving, so if you could run the bot now that'd be great :) I plan to finish the archiving sometime later, but not today. AlphaAbsol (talk) 22:33, 28 September 2016 (UTC)
There's no great rush. If you're planning on doing more within the next few days, I'll just wait until you're done. If you think it'll be longer, let me know and I'll do it now. Robin Hood  (talk) 01:36, 29 September 2016 (UTC)

CookieEdit

You have been given a cookie!

Your dedication and diligence to the wiki has not gone unnoticed. A user has seen the progress you've made, and has given you a cookie because of it. Good work! The user had the following to say:

You've done a mammoth job with all of the archives. A superhuman effort! - KINMUNETALK﴿ 04:03, 29 September 2016 (UTC)
Thanks so much, I really appreciate it! *eats* AlphaAbsol (talk) 04:04, 29 September 2016 (UTC)
I second that. Amazing job you've been doing! Robin Hood  (talk) 08:23, 29 September 2016 (UTC)
Thank you as well :D AlphaAbsol (talk) 08:32, 29 September 2016 (UTC)

RevertingEdit

Hey AlphaAbsol, I've seen you reverting some edits to Lore:Skyrim. Instead of manually undoing each edit in sequence, you can simply edit an old diff. This will revert all edits after the diff you are editing, thus saving you time and effort. - KINMUNETALK﴿ 08:56, 3 October 2016 (UTC)

Thanks, I didn't know I could do that :) AlphaAbsol (talk) 08:57, 3 October 2016 (UTC)
A second way to accomplish the same thing, though it's a bit less intuitive, is to use the "History" tab at the top of the page. The round buttons towards the left let you select the first and last edits you want to view the combined diff of. Select the edit before the first change you want to revert and the edit of the last change you want to revert and click "Compare selected revisions". Then, when it shows you the diff, you can simply click "Undo" and it'll undo the entire set of changes as if it was a single change. It's a bit clumsier than simply editing an old revision, but it has the advantage that you can undo some edits while keeping others that may have come after (provided they don't conflict...the wiki will warn you if they do). Template DocumentationEdit

If you're going to be working on template documentation, one thing that would be really useful is to document any templates that use #load or #save. This lets templaters easily track down what's actually being loaded/saved, and remove any unneeded saved data. I keep trying to do this, but then getting distracted from it by various things, or forgetting about it entirely. You can see examples of what I've done on the {{Faction}} documentation page. If you need a list of specific templates that load/save data, it's a bit outdated, but there's one here (might need updating, but it should be pretty good). You don't necessarily have to do everything on that list as a separate project; I just wanted to mention it as something that could be done if you're going through and updating the documentation anyway. Robin Hood  (talk) 15:59, 6 October 2016 (UTC)

Sure, I'll do that! AlphaAbsol (talk) 18:50, 6 October 2016 (UTC)
Edit: I'm a bit unsure about those so far, so I'll probably get some more experience with normal template documentation before I start working on save/load documentation. AlphaAbsol (talk) 21:34, 14 October 2016 (UTC)
No worries! Robin Hood  (talk) 01:25, 15 October 2016 (UTC)

APRPEdit

Just to let you know I've uploaded a ribbon for your project and added it to the project page. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 22:43, 8 October 2016 (UTC)

Talk Page vs User Page help.Edit

Thanks so the info Alpha! I'm still super new to the Wiki so I appreciate the offer on moving my text. I'll give it a shot and see if I can get it sorted out. I was out of the house for the night so that's why it took me so long to reply. :) — Unsigned comment by Bantycakes (talkcontribs) at 23:08 on 15 October 2016 (UTC)

No problem! Also, when commenting on talk pages you should sign your post by adding a ~~~~ to the end of your message, to sign it. If you have any trouble, feel free to let me know! AlphaAbsol (talk) 05:16, 16 October 2016 (UTC)

Place vs. PlacesEdit

I notice you just categorized one Arena article as a Place Stub and the other as a Places Stub. Did you spot some difference that I haven't noticed, or is this just a mistake that a lot of people have made? Unless there's good reason to do otherwise, we should probably follow Skyrim/ESO's pattern and just use Arena Place Stubs. Robin Hood  (talk) 20:48, 22 October 2016 (UTC)

No, there's no difference, I just accidentally typed "Places" instead of "Place". I can see that there are a couple of pages in Arena Places Stubs, not just the ones I accidentally put there, so I'll re-categorise everything in that category soon. Thanks for telling me! AlphaAbsol (talk) 20:52, 22 October 2016 (UTC)

PatrollerEdit

Well, that took a while, but you are now a patroller. You can replace your current {{User Userspace Patroller}} box with the {{User Patroller}} box. Congratulations! Robin Hood  (talk) 00:01, 11 November 2016 (UTC)

Thanks so much! I won't let you guys down :D AlphaAbsol (talk) 04:41, 11 November 2016 (UTC)
