I think it looks good. My question is, should there be a way for the reader to determine what's in the Ayleid Casks, Coffers, & Chests? If it wouldn't be too much trouble to provide me with the info, I'd be happy to make pages that can be linked to from places pages. --GuildKnight (Talk) contribs 12:07, 23 April 2007 (EDT)

Yeah, I agree that details on the various chests would be useful. I think trying to put them all on a single page, though, might not work. The boss chests on Oblivion:Dungeons#Boss Chests are by themselves a pretty huge table; a table with all the loot chests would be about three times larger. One possibility would be to create pages like Oblivion:Bandit_Dungeons, Oblivion:Undead_Dungeons, etc. Each one could provide details on all the chests found in that type of dungeon, and could also provide a listing of all the places that fall into that category. Just an idea. --NepheleTalk 02:14, 24 April 2007 (EDT)
Sounds like the perfect idea. I'll probably get started on the info you sent me this evening (why can't I just do this instead of work?). --GuildKnight (Talk) contribs 08:39, 24 April 2007 (EDT)

MapsEdit

I did a substantial revamp of the maps for Wenyandawik (for comparison, the original maps are still available at Oblivion:Wenyandawik). The reasons for the changes were to:

  • Orient the maps properly
  • Add useful information to the maps (doors, locations of important treasure, etc)
  • Clean up the construction set markings on the original maps, because the CS info isn't really too helpful to readers

To do this, I ended up deciding to start from scratch with new maps, instead of just working from Lurlock's existing maps. Cleaning up the all the CS info on the original maps would have been a lot of work. Also, the resolution of those maps was about half the resolution of the new maps I made; at that resolution, it was hard to add extra info to the maps.

So the new maps were generated by taking screenshots from the ingame map, which also happens to automatically make sure that the maps are oriented properly. The notations on the map probably still need some more work (e.g., a legend to help readers figure out the different symbols and colors), but I wanted to get some feedback on the general concept before fiddling too much more. Any reactions? Do other editors think the new maps are more useful? --NepheleTalk 02:14, 24 April 2007 (EDT)

Yeah, the maps look much better. And, yeah, I was looking for a legend a minute ago :) But it seems to work really well. --GuildKnight (Talk) contribs 08:39, 24 April 2007 (EDT)
Hats off, not only to the maps, but to the walkthrough as well. First I was looking at the image itself alone, and that was a bit confusing (no legend). But the maps are very well integrated into the walkthrough itself. --Timenn 09:01, 24 April 2007 (EDT)

Um... Stupid question... I'd like to help out with the redesigning thing, (I even have some walkthroughs for many different dungeons on paper) but I don't know how and where to get the maps. Can anyone please tell me? --Vesna 00:13, 1 July 2007

You should be able to find the maps here. We're in the middle of reformatting all of the pages right now, so the ones that look like the example (basically every edit I've marked as "oprp reformatting" or "pasted oprp data") just need the walkthroughs. The others will be reformatted soon, hopefully, and we'll make sure to be on the lookout for pages that you write walkthroughs for so they will be maintained on the reformatted pages. Thanks for your help! --Eshe 00:04, 1 July 2007 (EDT)
Most of the maps aren't done yet, and the ones that are have already been uploaded to the site. At the moment, Nephele generates the overlays then I grab the screenshots of the dungeon, stitch them together, add the overlays and upload the result. If you want to generate your own maps and ask Nephele for the overlays, that'd be a big help. --RpehTalk 02:13, 1 July 2007 (EDT)
There are two different map formats at this point. The new, OPRP format maps only exist for a selection of pages; most of the pages listed in the category Category:Oblivion Places Redesign Pages Needing Cleanup have the new format maps and just need the walkthrough information added. Almost every other page on the site has the old format maps. The Image list won't differentiate between the two formats, so you're best using the cleanup category to try to find the new format maps.
As Rpeh said, if you'd like to help with creating the new format maps that would really be appreciated. Right now Rpeh's pretty much doing all the work singlehandedly. I had been planning to keep a handful of overlays posted on the site so that anybody who wanted to help out could do so without having to contact me first. Since then, we changed to using eps instead of png format for the overlays, but I suppose I could still post the eps format (you just won't be able to view the overlays online in eps format). So I'll go ahead and add some to [[UESPWiki:Oblivion Places Redesign Project/Map Overlay]]. If you'd like to do more than just one or two, I can still email them directly to you (which is overall a more efficient way to get them to you). --NepheleTalk 14:53, 1 July 2007 (EDT)
