JewelcraftingEdit

Most gemstones cannot be profitably used for jewelcrafting -- especially if you have the Transmute spell. This probably deserves a mention somewhere on this page.... --Hurkyl 18:07, 21 January 2012 (UTC)

True, buying gems is not profitable, but, buying silver/gold ores and making jewelery that you then enchant is incredibly profitable, (100 enchanting and dual enchant Perk helps;) make it so profitable that, in fact after a certain level, it is almost impossible to sell magical equipment for anything like its true value. In fact I have a chest full of enchanted jewelry that because of their high base value (between 3k-6k Septims, I can't effectively sell. --188.29.165.182 19:29, 4 March 2014 (GMT)

possible bugEdit

(ps3) i recently had some 10 to 50 of each type of gems and felt like dropping them onto my rifton house cellar floor. tried to make a nice little hill of them (well, my first goal was to fill the whole cellar with them, but that plan won't truly work out i think. those gems are TINY). looks awesome, and when i jumped on it and up and another time and ... anyway, suddenly i fell through the floor. i fell into the white game back for a certain amount of seconds and then landed safely back in front of the entrance :)

this bug is repeatable for me on my little hill of gems.

maybe if someone has time and the console to spawn dummy amounts of gems in front, try to jump in other locations and see if it is possible to fall through the floor also somewhere else (on the ps3 its just a tad too much work :P) --84.227.14.215 02:30, 25 January 2012 (UTC)

Sealed LetterEdit

The "Sealed Letter" contains a lot of text, which UESP currently does not make available to the reader. I find this to be wrong.

I don't know why this redirects here, but more importantly, it doesn't seem right to reproduce the contents of the sealed letter here.

Perhaps somebody knowledgeable with UESP internal proceedings can figure out the best way to give the contents of the letter to the reader clicking Skyrim:Sealed Letter.

In the meanwhile, I copied the text into the Talk page of that (unredirected) page. CapnZapp 18:54, 14 March 2012 (UTC)

The text is already on the wiki, just under another name. I added a link to this page. --Velyanthe 19:40, 14 March 2012 (UTC)
The Sealed Letter that was listed here was a miscellaneous item that does not contain any text, and was classified by the game as a gem -- which is why it was listed on this page in the first place. The actual note is named Amaund Motierre's Sealed Letter, so that is where the text of the note and any other information about it belongs. As far as I can tell, the miscellaneous item is never used in game (I'm guessing the developers created it early in the development of the quest, and then decided to switch to an actual note instead). Therefore I've removed it from the page. --NepheleTalk 20:50, 14 March 2012 (UTC)

Most excellent! CapnZapp 19:35, 15 March 2012 (UTC)

Jeweled PendantEdit

This entry refers to Mourning Never Comes, but I don't remember a Jeweled Pendant being involved, nor does the write-up mention one. 75.92.217.27 18:41, 20 March 2012 (UTC)

I looked in the Creation Kit and it looks like you're right. It's in the script properties for a line of dialogue, but it doesn't appear to be used apart from that. Perhaps at some point it was intended as a reward or something you needed to turn in but it got scrapped. I've added a note to the page. Robin Hoodtalk 09:24, 16 April 2012 (UTC)

Gems from miningEdit

I have a question about the note "Each time you mine an ore vein, there is a 10% chance of receiving one gem in addition to the ore(s) that you normally receive.". Does that mean I get three 10% chances per vein, or only a single 10% chance?  Airos  ( Talk  Contribs  Email ) 09:26, 19 November 2012 (GMT)

Three chances, after each hit of the vein. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 02:10, 13 December 2012 (GMT)

Flawless sapphire guaranteed in Korvanjund?Edit

Yeah, I'm stuck trying to finish Ringmaker. Anyway so I went to Korvanjund to try and find one of the two flawless sapphires I need (over 50 levels and no FS?! sigh) and found the bowls, knocked them over, and tried again a few times. There does not appear to be a flawless sapphire anywhere in my Korvanjund Crypt. Can someone with the CK check this? It looks to me like there are a collection of expensive rare random gems, which for most people would probably include a flawless sapphire, but for me are two flawless diamond, a flawless ruby, an emerald and a flawless garnet. --Morrolan (talk) 14:14, 15 April 2013 (GMT)

One flawless each of sapphire, ruby, garnet, amethyst, and emerald, two flawless diamonds, and an emerald and amethyst. In an urn (Urn 1) containing a Honed Ancient Nord Sword of Cold and a spell tome of conjure flame atronach are one flawless each of sapphire, ruby, amethyst, emerald, and diamond. The other four gems (f diamond, f garnet, emerald, and amethyst) are in another urn (Urn 2). Here is a visual of the urn locations. Vely►t►e 19:34, 15 April 2013 (GMT)
Yeah, I found the urns, knocked them over, never found a sapphire. Also didn't find the amethyst. Are you sure it's not random? --Morrolan (talk) 20:55, 15 April 2013 (GMT)
I'm 100% positive--it would show up as an orange shape and be called GemLeveled or something instead of a blue GemFlawlessSapphire in that case. It's possible they've been displaced by physics, which could easily happen with gems. Vely►t►e 21:19, 15 April 2013 (GMT)
Yeah, that seems likely. OK, I'll update the page here with a note about this. --Morrolan (talk) 12:05, 16 April 2013 (GMT)

Flawless Sapphire NOT guaranteed to be "Found in the chest 370 ft NNE of Journeyman's Nook (Winterhold)"Edit

The entry claiming that a Flawless Sapphire is guaranteed to be "Found in the chest 370 ft NNE of Journeyman's Nook (Winterhold)" is not correct.

I am looking at the chest right now and its exact contents for me are:

Garnet
Gold (39)
Orichalcum Ingot
Petty Soul Gem
Silver Garnet Ring

And that's all. I reloaded my previous Save and checked again, and there is still no Flawless Sapphire here.

This is on the Xbox 360 with the latest patch (I believe the Xbox patch is version 1.9.31.0.8) and my character is a Level 1 Argonian male. Would someone else please test this chest with a level 1 character and verify whether or not you find a Flawless Sapphire in it (and what platform you tested it on). (Warning: The chest is guarded. For me it was just two horkers, but as they say, "YMMV".)

If there is something in the code that prevents level one characters from finding this Flawless Sapphire then we cannot say that it is "guaranteed" to be there just because some contents table says it should. We have to go with what makes it to the final screen in the game.

Thanks,

Minotaur (talk) 10:06, 14 September 2013 (GMT)

You are correct. It contains a gem that is based on your level, though slightly random (so, in addition to garnet, you also had a chance to get an amethyst between level 1-3). Vely►t►e 14:30, 14 September 2013 (GMT)

Uses of flawless sapphireEdit

Should the need of two flawless sapphires to make the Aetherial Crown be mentioned under the uses of flawless sapphires? — Unsigned comment by Eldubya (talkcontribs) at 18:19 on 15 December 2013‎

Done. Thanks for pointing this out. --Xyzzy Talk 20:04, 15 December 2013 (GMT)
Might it also be worth mentioning that Flawless Sapphires are a possible target for a Thieves Guild job? Until the job is turned in, all Flawless Sapphires stack in inventory and can't be simply removed. Was a bit of a mystery to me at first.184.175.0.215 19:07, 9 September 2018 (UTC)

Volskygge Peak emeraldsEdit

If those things really are there, they are VERY well hidden - enough that better guidance than just "at the sides of the pillar" would be much appreciated. I have run my cursor over the sides of the pillar, on the ground at the base, on the ground nearby, etc., and I'm getting pretty skeptical about the existence of these phantom emeralds.104.15.180.18 07:08, 8 August 2017 (UTC)

Found them. They were in the eye sockets of the eagle head on top of the pillar, but if you stand too close to the pillar, they won't register when you move the cursor over them. The original poster must have had them knocked loose by the battle as he suspected. The location in the article should be updated.104.15.180.18 17:34, 9 August 2017 (UTC)
