Detailed WalkthroughEdit
Psijic Calis, a new recruit to the Psijic Order, is in a bit of a pickle. Calis believes that he may have botched a transport spell, and is looking for Master Pythis, his mentor. Pythis assured his student that he'd be okay, but Calis noticed that the plants in the cavern emit some kind of strange energy. He'd like you to accompany him into the cave so he can get a closer look, and determine whether or not this was his fault.
Head north from the entrance chamber. Once you reach a fork in the path, take the northern tunnel. You'll find yourself in a chamber full of water, with a green glowing plant in the center. Examine the Strange Glowing Plant and talk to Calis. Calis says the plant is radiating tonal energy, which is concerning because Calis and his master brought a relic with them which emits the same kind of power. Calis believes he damaged it. Tonal energy is a strange Dwemer phenomenon that can have catastrophic effects on the natural world. Pythis took the relic into the cave with him. Calis senses other pockets of tonal disturbance nearby. He wants to cast a spell at each location to keep the effects from spreading, and figures that if the two of you follow those pockets to the source, you'll find Pythis and the relic.
Head east, then start moving south. You should begin your search in the delve's southeastern chamber. There, you'll find a Dwemer amplifier, which is exacerbating the tonal energy. Deactivate the amplifier, and Calis will cast a time slowing spell to contain the effects. Head up the hill, then cross the bridge leading south to enter the chamber to the west. Head to the bottom of the room to find your next amplifier. You're going to want to head west to find the next pocket. After you've deactivated all three amplifiers, Calis will inform you that he sense his mentor's presence. You should look around for any signs of Master Pythis.
Move a short ways west of where the amplifier was located, and you'll find a table with a journal on top of it. Read the journal, which Calis identifies as belonging to his mentor. Pythis isn't, in fact, lost or in danger. Pythis lied to Calis about the relic being damaged, and seeks to secure the relic's power for himself. He planned to pin the blame on Calis for the relic being missing.
Speak with Calis about your findings. Of course, he is upset by this revelation, but Calis isn't just going to sit here and mope about it. He asks that you help him stop his mentor. You don't have a whole lot of time before Calis's spells wear off, and Calis doesn't want to run the risk of Pythis intercepting any potential calls for assistance from the Psijic Order. The relic may become impossible to contain if the energy in the cave grows more unstable. Calis thinks that Pythis used the Dwemer amplifiers to harness the relic's power, but Calis may be able to use them to transport the relic back to Artaeum.
Move into the chamber to the north and head downstairs. Once you're at the bottom of the pit, head up an incline to the south and head through the door to the Relic Enclosure. Deactivate the Dwarven amplifier near the relic, and Calis will attempt to move the relic. However, the relic is too unstable for him to move on his own. A portal opens up, and Master Larama arrives to help just in the nick of time. The two are able to transport the relic back to Artaeum. Speak with Calis, who thanks you for helping him prevent disaster from befalling Blackreach.

- Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
- Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in any order. Some stages may therefore repeat objectives seen in other stages.
