A young Imperial named Catina recently lost her mother, Honoria. In the weeks that followed, images of the Forsaken Citadel plagued her dreams. Honoria clearly has unfinished business in the ruined academy, and she needs the living to help settle it.

Quick WalkthroughEdit

  1. Speak with Jano Invel inside the Forsaken Citadel.
  2. Destroy the three totems.
  3. Put the Locket of Honoria in the ritual brazier.
  4. Speak with Catina Garrana outside.

Detailed WalkthroughEdit

Catina Garrana needs your assistance. She keeps having troubling dreams about the Forsaken Citadel, and she thinks they have something to do with her late mother's locket. The ruins can be entered by heading down the hill to the right of the bridge leading in to the academy. There's a cave on the cliff that leads into the citadel's dungeons. When you enter the fortress, a woman's voice speaks to you. She tells you to find her old lover's letter. There's an unsent letter on the table in the entryway. When you read it, a ghost will appear.

Speaking to him reveals that he is Jano Invel, the man responsible for the state of the fortress. He explains that there are three totems binding him and his fellow legionaries to this world, and that they can only pass on to Aetherius if the cursed totems are destroyed. His former lover, Honoria Garanna, was supposed to help him perform this same ritual all those years ago to protect the citadel from the Knahaten Flu. However, she left unexpectedly, taking her locket with her. The locket was supposed to serve as the binding totem for the ritual they were to perform, and Jano was forced to find inferior objects to replace it with. Without the locket, the ritual didn't work as well as he expected, hence the sorry state of Jano and his comrades. You're going to need to find the cursed totems and destroy them to free the Imperial legionaries— as you destroy them, you will get visions of the past, showcasing Jano's frustration and Honoria's regret.

Honoria returns

From the entrance, head north, then make a right turn into the training area. Keep going north and find the barracks. Honoria's Sword is here, and it serves as the first totem. Honoria's Diary can be found in the courtyard. Go west from the barracks, then make a right turn. In the eastern portion of the courtyard lies Honoria's Diary. Destroy it, then move on to the Grand Lecture Hall to the north, which holds the Child's Toy, the final totem. From the visions, you learn that Jano couldn't find another totem as powerful as Honoria's locket was, and that Honoria left the citadel because she was pregnant— and didn't want to risk the life of her child for the ritual.

Return to Jano after destroying all three cursed totems.

Jano welcomes you back, and thanks you for destroying the cursed totems. In order to break the spell, you need to burn the locket in the ritual brazier he set up for you while you were gone. When you do, the curse is broken and the spirit of Honoria appears. Speak with her. She wants you to tell Catina everything. As for herself, she's going to reconcile with Jano. Head on outside and bring the news to Catina, who rewards you for your assistance.

Dreams of the Forsaken
Finishes Quest Journal Entry
To help Catina's dead mother pass on and end Catina's nightmares, I must find a way to enter the ruins of the academy.
Objective: Enter the Forsaken Citadel
As I entered the ruins, a ghostly voice encouraged me to find a letter nearby. I should find this mysterious missive.
Objective: Find the Letter
I found the letter. I should read it. Hopefully its contents will give me some sense of what Honoria thinks to accomplish in the Forsaken Citadel.
Objective: Read the Letter
Upon reading the letter, a ghostly figure appeared. I should talk to this apparition.
Objective: Talk to the Ghost
Jano and Honoria agreed to protect the academy from the Knahaten Flu by way of a necromantic ritual, but Honoria left before they could perform it. Jano attempted it alone and failed. I must destroy the totems he corrupted in the process.
Objective: Destroy the Corrupted Totems: 0/3
Hidden Objective: Destroy the Corrupted Totems
I destroyed all of Jano's corrupted totems. I should return to him with Honoria's totem so we can break the curse afflicting the citadel.
Objective: Return to Jano
I found Jano. I should speak with him about how to conduct the ritual.
Objective: Talk to Jano
Now that the citadel is free of corrupted totems, I should toss Honoria's true totem into the fire to dispel the curse completely.
Objective: Drop the Locket into the Fire
After I placed the locket in the flame, the ghost of Honoria appeared. I should speak with her.
Objective: Talk to Honoria
Now that I've dispelled the Forsaken Citadel's curse, perhaps Honoria and Jano can reconcile. I should return to Catina and tell her about what transpired.

  • Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
  • Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in any order. Some stages may therefore repeat objectives seen in other stages.
