Oblivion talk:Poison

Needed for ArticleEdit

The following pictures are needed in this article:

  • A picture of a poisoned weaponed icon
  • A picture of a bottle of poison out of the inventory.
  • A picture of a shop selling poisons

I cannot personally get these pictures because i'm on the xbox and i feel will be better quality if someone else gets them. --Lostsin 21:27, 9 May 2008 (EDT)

I agree. If someone can grab screen shots of at least the first two and maybe throw in a few more notes, that would probably be enough to remove the stub tag.--Darth NANAME 21:47, 9 May 2008 (EDT)

Work RemovedEdit

wow you managed to remove most of my work on this --Lostsin 23:37, 9 May 2008

No, we pretty much just went and paraphrased everything you said. --Darth NANAME 21:38, 14 May 2008 (EDT)
What about the whole section on shops and enemies poison?
Oh it's been remade, k. --Lostsin 17:32, 22 May 2008 (EDT)

StubEdit

I don't think this page should be a stub anymore, anyone agree? Ninja Hinder 10:13, 3 October 2008 (EDT)

I pretty much agree, and I see that you've already taken the initiative. The article might still benefit from an image or two as mentioned above, but it's hardly a deal-breaker. --Robin Hood (TalkE-mailContribs) 20:12, 3 October 2008 (EDT)

Poison ImmunityEdit

Just a quick question here about Argonian immunity to poison. Would using a poison with frost damage for example still affect them? I'm not too sure if the magical property of a poison would carry over to a creature immune to poisons. I don't get to play much and I just started my Argonian.

Anyway, I'm planning on using poisons and illusion as a main offense and I'm not yet able to make elemental poisons... so I can't test it myself. Does anyone know if a Frost Damage POISON would affect an Argonian?

Just an assumption since I consider Frost Damage as magic, wondering if the game sees it as a poison as opposed to magic.

From the Oblivion:Magical_Effects#Resistances_and_Weaknesses page, you can see that the entire poison and its effects are scaled or cancelled based on Posion weaknesses and resistances first. The individual effects of the poison may afterward be scaled based on their own resistances (like Frost Resistance). So if an enemy has 100% resistance to poison, without any poison weakness spells active, they will be impervious to the poison and all its effects. -Xmlninja 23:04, 9 October 2008 (EDT)
Fair, I never actually saw that page, guess I should spend more time on the wiki before asking questions. -_-;;

Poison Effects Counts As Potion EffectsEdit

Recently today after fighting batched of Grummites, I had several poisons' effects still active. I went into my potions menu and tried to drink a restore health potion. I received the message that you cannot drink more than four potions (the standard, or whatever it is). I tried to do it again and the same thing happened. I then used a Cure Poison spell, and drank another potion normally without the dialog. I believe this should be added to this page, if it already isn't mentioned elsewhere. Poison DeathEdit

I noticed if you shoot poisoned arrow on someone and pysical damage doesnt kill it but the poison do, player wont be accused of murder just assault or something. I shoot a sleeping beggar and poison killed it, then checked my bounty and it was 60 or something..— Unsigned comment by 109.175.48.10 (talk) at 12:31 on 14 March 2010

Yep, that was already mentioned here, but a mention here won't hurt anybody. Thanks! Talk Wolok gro-Barok Contributions 19:48, 3 April 2010 (UTC)

Poison Ignores DifficultyEdit

So, I've been playing around with trying to beat my enemies at the hardest difficulty, and noticed something strange. The poisons that you get in the beginning dungeon are powerful enough to kill most, if not any goblin. Considering how it takes forever to kill even a measly rat, I was quite surprised. Poisons seem to be just as effective no matter what the circumstances (ie, there isn't anything special about the beginning dungeon's poisons). Can anybody confirm? If you agree, let's add it to the article. It might also fit into the "tips for surviving the hardest difficulty" page (or whatever it's called). Um the Muse 04:48, 24 September 2010 (UTC)

Confirmed. On maximum difficulty, my weapon did the expected 1/6 damage, but poisons—whether I made them myself or they were found—had their full normal effect. That definitely has a place on this article. This Hardest Difficulty Strategy Guide suggests it in-passing, but I think the wording could be changed to make it explicit. Go nuts! :) Robin Hoodtalk 23:09, 25 September 2010 (UTC)

DOT poisonsEdit

Does a poison that does say, 20 damage over 5 seconds do 20 damage every second for 5 seconds for a total of 100 damage, or 20 damage over 5 seconds totaling 20 damage? — Unsigned comment by 24.162.127.225 (talk) at 00:01 on April 5, 2011

I am almost sure that it does damage every second, since that is how spells work. That is only damage, Drain is a single damage over the time period. --DKong27 Talk Cont 13:07, 5 April 2011 (UTC)
