Thief RingEdit

I have a screenshot showing the exact location of the Thief Ring. Should I add it to this page, or would that be over the top? --Gaebrial 11:53, 15 August 2007 (EDT)

The map already on the page gives the location of two corpses. So you've got a 50/50 chance of looking near the correct corpse. I suppose the location could be added to the existing image, but we don't need two maps on the same page. --TheRealLurlock Talk 12:11, 15 August 2007 (EDT)
OK, just trying to help. --Gaebrial 12:16, 15 August 2007 (EDT)
Sorry, didn't mean to come off like I was attacking you or something. Just trying to maintain a certain level of quality in the images on the site, as they've really been going downhill lately. If you think your image is better than the one already on the page, go ahead and upload it. (The existing map image is a little dark anyhow.) Unfortunately, as you noted, most screenshots straight out of the games do tend to be a bit on the dark side. The best way around this is to crank up the contrast (not the brightness - that just washes things out) using some sort of image manipulation software after the fact. If you don't have access to Photoshop or other equivalent, I recommend The GIMP. It's free and almost as powerful as Photoshop, if a little less user-friendly, and can certainly be used for this purpose. --TheRealLurlock Talk 15:15, 15 August 2007 (EDT)
Don't worry, I was just a bit narked that my first offers of help were being rejected. Anyhow, I've got PSP7, so I can work some magic with images, using Clarify, Gamma correction, and a few other tweaks. I've uploaded a test of a 'new' map for Addamasartus [[Media:MW_Addamasartus_Test.jpg|here]]. If you think this is good enough (and better than the existing one), I can annotate it and replace the current map. Also, [[Media:MW_ThiefRing_Test.jpg|here]] is the screen that I was talking about, showing the location of the ring. --Gaebrial 15:57, 15 August 2007 (EDT)
Well, it's better than the existing one, but could still stand to be a bit brighter. Remember that the purpose of a map is not to look like the area but to guide people through that area, so the colors don't have to match what's there necessarily. Anyhow, make it maybe a little brighter, annotate it, and crop the unnecessary stuff off the top, and I think it would make a good replacement for the existing image. As for the screenshot, I suppose it could be added, just keep the thumbnail small and put it in the Notes section. Also might help to use a color other than black for the rectangle that indicates where the ring is. Something like a bright red or green makes more sense, so it stands out. --TheRealLurlock Talk 19:06, 15 August 2007 (EDT)
Hmmm... I've just looked at the map again on my screen at work, and it does look rather washed out. My LCD at home is obviously a lot more saturated. I'll redo it tonight, and annotate it in accordance with the guidelines. I'll probably just mark the location of the ring on the map, rather than cluttering the place up with screenshots. --Gaebrial 03:11, 16 August 2007 (EDT)

Mage SpellEdit

The mage here has a very strange spell. He has an on target spell that causes 17% weakness to common disease. I don't even know why as the spell seems absolutely stupidly useless. Would this be something to note as kind of an oddity? 66.66.172.8 22:14, 15 February 2011 (UTC)

It seems a little unusual. Maybe he hopes you will jump in the water and catch coldĀ ;) --Brf 23:44, 15 February 2011 (UTC)
That spell would just be the basic Weakness to Common Disease. I have no idea why the devs would give an NPC a spell like that, but you don't mess with the devs. --DKong27 Talk Cont 02:06, 16 February 2011 (UTC)

Additional lootEdit

Am re-running Morrowind and just finished this quest. Underwater, there is another skeleton with a fishing pole and minor loot. Oshaugm (talk) 20:43, 6 July 2013 (GMT)

The fishing pole isn't loot, but the skeleton is still notable enough. I'll look into it. Jeancey (talk) 21:12, 6 July 2013 (GMT)
