Legends: Easter Eggs

Legends
This page is for Easter eggs only. Easter eggs include inside jokes, pop culture references, and any similar reference to something outside the Elder Scrolls games. For other points of interest, please see the appropriate pages.

Easter Eggs are secrets that the developers put in games to give people a laugh when they find them (provided that they understand the joke or reference). Easter eggs differ from in-game references in that they have been clearly hidden from the player and are unusual with regards to their surroundings; references are often integrated into the rest of game and no attempt is made to keep them secret.

Cultural References are objects, characters, or events in the game that refer to a specific element of popular culture; they differ from Easter Eggs in that they are usually integrated into the game world, and strong parallels can be drawn between the in-game event and the specific work being referenced. Cultural references also include allusions to elements of real-world culture, such as historical events and folklore.

If you think you have found an Easter egg please post your idea on this article's talk page before adding it to this article.

Easter EggsEdit

King of MiscarcandEdit

When you summon the Miscarcand Lich card, you are prompted to "Choose a creature to hunt." This is most likely a reference to the notorious bug from The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion where the King of Miscarcand and his Zombie Guardians would pursue you anywhere in Cyrodiil, making you unable to sleep, wait, or fast travel.

Orc CatEdit

The card art for Rimmen Purveyor depicts a Khajiit who looks identical to the "Orc Cat" meme (which shares a meme format with Skull Cow Isn't Real, It Can't Hurt You).

Secret SearchesEdit

The following terms are searchable in your Collection:

  • "Oreo" brings up the card Golden Initiate. This is due to the fact that players joked that her attack audio ("E'Tah Aureal") sounds like "Eat a Oreo".
  • "Toby" gives you the result Militant Chieftain. Fans had nicknamed this card "Toby" after a bug where the card's title displayed as "20b9b7e3-66b6-11e3-949a-0800200c9a66-title"; "Toby" came from the "20b" at the start of the string.
  • "Eolis" previously brought up the card Bushwhack, as it is a favorite card of Legends streamer Eolis.
  • Other, more general nicknames for cards:
  • Most elf races can be found by typing their alternative mer name. These include: Altmer (High Elves), Bosmer (Wood Elves), Dunmer (Dark Elves), and Orsimer (Orcs).

Cultural ReferencesEdit

Elder Scrolls MemesEdit

There are several cards referring to memes originating from other Elder Scrolls games that are not necessarily historical references.

  • Dive Rock Fall is a reference to a popular player method of executing the Adoring Fan follower by throwing them over the edge of Dive Rock.
  • Prized Chicken (fills a lane with Angry Villagers) is a reference to how attacking livestock in Skyrim would turn a whole town against you.
  • Arrow in the Knee and Camlorn Hero (dialogue when summoned is "I used to be an adventurer like you.") are references to the well known line of guard dialogue in Skyrim "I used to be an adventurer like you. Then I took an arrow in the knee...", which became a hit meme soon after Skyrim's release.
  • Similarly, there is a loading tip line "I used to be an adventurer like you. Then I took an arrow in the knee and got shackled." that uses the same quote mixed with the Shackle mechanic.
  • When you try to attack past Lydia, the message "You must attack Lydia. She will get in your way." will be displayed. This is a reference to the fact that followers like Lydia would often get in the way when trying to go through doorways.

Fishy StickEdit

Fishy Stick is a meme which began on Bethesda's Official Forums and went on to become a running gag in TES games.

  • Manic Jack's attack audio: "Let's do the fishstick."
  • Artaeum Savant's summon audio: "Wha? Oh, sorry. I was busy doing the fishstick."

Santa ClausEdit

  • This reference can no longer be found in-game. Greybeard Mentor's summon audio of "ho ho ho" and attacking audio of sleigh bells and "you're on my list" are references to the popular concept of the Santa Claus, his sleigh, and his supposed 'naughty and nice' list.

Squad GoalsEdit

  • Snowhawk Detachment's ability shows the tooltip Squad Goals. This is a reference to a phrase commonly used in social media to convey you want to do something together with your friends.
