The unknown Oblivion hero is the player in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. His birth is believed to be between 3E 400 and 3E 410. No information is available about he/she until his/her escape from the Imperial Prison at 3E 433, when he/she escapes by luck when Emperor Uriel Septim VII goes through his/her cell on his attempt to escape from the Imperial City after the murder of his three sons, Ebel, Enman and Geldall Septim. The Emperor goes through the his/her cell because it is a secret way out of the Imperial City. He/she was not intended to reside in that cell, but as Glenroy, one of the Emperor's bodyguards says, it is probably a mix up with the Imperial Watch. After the Emperor and his bodyguards went through the cell when Captain Renault, another of the Emperor's bodyguards, pressed a stone in the wall which activated a secret door that opened, thus opening the secret escape route. Captain Renault deciced not to close the secret door because there was no way to open it from the other side. Therefore, our hero was able to follow them.
