Follow either Valkreia (5 Gr Soul Gems), Zissicheeiva (Enchanted Silver Weapon) or Hastophos's suggested course of action (5 Gr Soul Gems and Debilitating Touch).
If the player has previously arranged for necromancy to be banned in Old Ebonheart (as part of the Temple quest Outlandish Heresy), then Hastophos Velifer will (ever so slightly smugly) request that the player make arrangements to pay the 5000 gold fine before he provides any help whatsoever. His fee is otherwise 60 septims.
Missa, while unable to speak after leaving Ghand, does hear what is said about her fate, and this may affect how she reacts to the player when her soul is freed.
The following Journal ID and Index codes can be used with the Journalconsole command to manually update the quest to a certain point.

An apprentice of the Mages Guild, Missa Rhyle, has gone missing after being sent to investigate the cavern of Ghand. I am to go to Ghand in search of Missa Rhyle and return with either Missa, or tidings regarding her fate.

It turns out that Vohur, the supposedly dead necromancer who inhabited Ghand, wasn't dead after all. He attacked me when I entered the cave. After I killed him, I was contacted by Missa Rhyle, apparently telepathically. She told me that she is trapped somewhere in Ghand.

I found Missa Rhyle. Vohur had killed her and trapped her soul inside of a soul gem. She was rather distraught at the realization. I should report back to Valkreia Krex with the soul gem.

Valkreia Krex was horrified at the news of Missa's fate. She wants to smash the soul gem, but suggested that I first consult Zissicheeiva in the Mages Guild, and then perhaps Hastophos Velifer, a necromancer living nearby.

Zissicheeiva suggested that what's left of Missa Rhyle's soul be used to enchant "something useful and beautiful" rather than "go to waste".

Hastophos Velifer offered to set Missa's spirit free from the soul gem. He needs a black rose, one moonmoth wing, some black lichen, and some gravedust in order to conduct the necessary ritual.
