Detailed WalkthroughEdit
If you have asked about latest rumors in Andothren, you may have heard of the local Thieves Guild's recent sorry end. There is a survivor of the Camonna Tong purge however, named Shei. This Argonian resides within a house by the eastern docks. Talk to her - she'll admit you to the Thieves Guild if you are not already a member - and it'll become apparent that she has a special job. She'll promise to go into the details if you meet her in Bthuangthuv, the Dwemer ruin overlooking the city.
Enter Bthuangthuv through the door to the Hall of Keys and you will see Shei. Talking to her about the special job will see her ask you to follow her. She'll then walk a short way to a blocked door. Speak to her again and she will ask you to find a way to open it. Immediately behind you is a fallen pipe, which you can walk up to reach an elevator on the next floor up. Using the Dwarven Crank will cause the elevator to descend. You'll then need to fight your way through the still-active Dwemer automata. Ignore the door to the Sighs of Berahzic. Instead, find the other side of the blocked door and look for the Dwarven Crank opposite to open it. Then talk once more to Shei. She'll walk now to the lower floor you just fought through. Your journal will update once she's reached her destination.
Speaking to Shei now will reveal her satisfaction that this place might make a suitable hideout. However, she wants you to deal with the squatters outside. You can convince her to ignore the squatters on the basis that they don't know of the Thieves Guild presence here, in which case the quest ends without reward. Otherwise, you should head out and speak to the squatters. Faylena Bevel speaks for them. She'll initially refuse to leave, and suggest that your group and hers operate on the basis of live and let live. You can accept this and report back to Shei for 100 gold. Alternatively you can insist on their departure, and either pay them 1,000 gold to leave (100 gold will be paid in recompense by Shei), or threaten violence. This last option shuts down all possibility of negotiation. In addition, Faylena is not intimidated at all, so you'll need to actually kill her group. If you do this, then Shei finds the death of the squatters distressing, but does not consider it to be the end of your partnership.
