Brotherhood's last remaining chapter?Edit

Cicero's dialogue and notes indicate that all the Dark Brotherhood chapters in Cyrodiil were destroyed, including Bravil, which was in Oblivion the home base of the Brotherhood, and clearly Astrid's Sanctuary is the only one in Skyrim. However I haven't seen any data to conclusively indicate that the Dark Brotherhood has been completely wiped out of Tamriel. --Morrolan (talk) 12:20, 6 September 2013 (GMT)

Cicero's Journal-Volume 2 says that only the Skyrim, Elsweyr, and Cheydinhal sanctuaries still exist, with the Elsweyr sanctuary being shut down. The Cheydinhal sanctuary was destroyed, leaving only the Skyrim one. One of the Skyrim loading screens also says that the Skyrim one is the last remaining sanctuary in Tamriel. --AN|L (talk) 14:10, 6 September 2013 (GMT)
So that makes the title for the quest "Destroy the Dark Brotherhood" literal; you really are destroying it as it now exists, not just in Skyrim. Has anybody tested to see if destroying the DB affects the Morag Tong interactions in Dragonborn? --Xyzzy Talk 18:52, 6 September 2013 (GMT)
The counterargument is that Cicero and the Night Mother are not present in the Falkreath chapter when you attack it in the DDB quest. Which means that, presumably, they go to the Dawnstar sanctuary, where once Cicero finds a new Listener they can set up a new DB. Destroying the DB shouldn't have any effect on the Morag Tong quest, as the two organizations are not related (in fact they're hostile to each other) and the Morag Tong in the quest are just nameless thugs essentially. --Morrolan (talk) 22:45, 7 September 2013 (GMT)
The Morag Tong wilderness encounter only occurs if you are in the The Dark Brotherhood faction. The note carried by the Morag Tong assassins clearly indicates they are hunting you as a member of the Brotherhood "marked for execution as a member of an unlawful guild of assassins". That being said, Babette, along with Cicero and the Night Mother, is not present during the destruction, which allows the organisation the chance to appear in future games. () Oh yes, the wilderness encounter. I don't think Xyzzy was talking about that, I think he was talking about Dragonborn:Served Cold which does happen even if you aren't a DB member. Presumably Babette doesn't appear in DDB because it's impossible to combat children in Skyrim, and despite all her dialogue etc. she counts as a child to the game's code. --Morrolan (talk) 23:13, 7 September 2013 (GMT)

Odd gapEdit

I like how as listener you can now actually do more then in Oblivion, where you were just made to travel between the statue and the cheydinhall speaker.

I had however hoped, and anticipated (just finished the questline for the first time) that you'd also be able to do like Lucien in Oblivion. Go out and recruit people.

The blades faction has recruitment. Is there a reason the Brotherhood doesn't? Was that not the final goal of the murder of the Emperor, to regain the Brotherhood's reputation. It seems a bit of a flawed reputation tbh, A listener and two assassins remaining (3 if you let Cicero live). Those groups of revelers paid by Honingbrew meadery to spread their wares have that number of people in their groups. — Unsigned comment by 134.184.101.177 (talk) at 13:22 on 1 April 2014‎

It's better to have this sort of discussion on our forums. The wiki focuses primarily on gathering data, not speculation on why something was or wasn't done a certain way. Robin Hood  (talk) 13:29, 1 April 2014 (GMT)

Killing Before JoiningEdit

Sup bros, I've been thinking, can most of the contracts be completed without joining DB?

Example: Kill Safia, then join Dark Brotherhood. Would i receive the payment for killing her?— Unsigned comment by Pedrado (talkcontribs) at 15:58 on 10 October 2015 (UTC)

Some of them, but not all. —Legoless (talk) 16:56, 10 October 2015 (UTC)
Alright, thank you Legoless. — Unsigned comment by Pedrado (talkcontribs) at 19:33 on 12 October 2015 (UTC)

dialogueEdit

Is the manor during the thunderstorm a reference to the quest "whodunnit" in oblivion?--Igottabombshell4ya (talk) 13:55, 20 August 2021 (UTC)

Anoriath, Ma'randru-jo, DeekusEdit

The individual pages for Kill Deekus, Kill Ma'randru-jo, and Kill Anoriath all list starting Bound Until Death in the prerequisite quests. I just received all three of these quests from Nazir after bringing the sealed letter and amulet to Astrid during The Silence Has Been Broken.
