Go to the Sur-Rata Caverns and say the password Kanah tells you. You can find these caverns in the Kathwasten Caves. From the Thieves Guild Hideout, enter the Lower Caverns, then enter the Upper Caverns where you will find the entrance to the Sur-Rata Caverns.
The following Quest_ID and Index codes can be used with the Journal Console command to manually update the quest to a certain point.
