Getting the QuestEdit

To begin the quest you have to either accept it through the Crown Store or travel to Master Faras' camp in the Telvanni Peninsula and talk to him. He is trying to verify his achievement of gathering some hidden Telvanni knowledge.

"Traveler, have you ever stood on the precipice of discovery? An arm's length away from changing Tamriel's history? I would think not, but now is your chance. My daughters and I are on the cusp of glory and we'll have you as our witness."
What's going on?
"I am Master Faras, a supremely talented and severely undervalued mage of House Telvanni. My daughters and I have dedicated our lives to the pursuit of the unknown and have earned precious little recognition.
But, that ends today!"
Why's that?
"We escaped Apocrypha with a tome that belonged to a founding member of House Telvanni. It's rumored to contain dark, long-forbidden secrets.
We're in need of a witness to verify our achievement. Care to fill this role for a small sum of gold?"
I'll bear witness to this event.

Step this side and watch Master Faras conduct a ritual. He will be attacked from Apocrypha. Speak to Tralise to receive your reward.

"It was foolish to tamper with the tome without the right precautions, but Father and Yensa wouldn't hear of it. Fruit from the same zealous and over-eager branch.
Sorry, traveler. You're owed coin. I haven't forotten."
What will you do about your father?
"I'm confident my sister and I can nullify Hermaeus Mora's curse with the time and the right ritual. Much preparation will be needed though. Thank you for bearing witness, even if it wasn't the spectacular achievement my father promised."

* Any text displayed in angle brackets (e.g., <Alias=LocationHold>) is dynamically set by the game and will be filled in with the appropriate word(s) when seen in game.
  • Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
  • Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in any order. Some stages may therefore repeat objectives seen in other stages.
