Quest-Related EventsEdit
When he is first approached in the village, you overhear him say to Jaxsik-Orrn:
- Grave-Singer Ki-At: "I grind my fangs. This is a desecration!".
He can then be spoken to:
- "You are the ojel who helped our kaal, Jaxsik-Orrn, destroy the Blackguard wagon-snake, are you not? Hmm. It seems you did not kill enough."
- Who are you?
- "I curl my lips. You demand a name without giving one? That is the ojel way, isn't it? Take, and take, and take. Hmm.
I am Grave-Singer Ki-At—the Dead-Water's keeper of death-secrets and final words." - What does a Grave-Singer do, exactly?
- "Death comes in many forms, and wears many masks. I tend to the bodies—staking them when I must, and harvesting them when I must. I read the grave-stakes and sing the fallen warrior's final song."
- Grave-Stake?
- "I nod my head. Yes. Grave-Stake. Or Xul-Vaat in the true-tongue. Each tells the story of the corpse it pierces. You will learn soon enough."
After speaking with Jaxsik-Orrn and agreeing to help her, if you speak to him:
- "The dead hiss your name, ojel. I hear it bubble up from the shallows. Here in the deep murk, you earn their favor or you join them."
Once you have retrieved Etra's Grave-Stake you can find Ki-At in conversation with Jaxsik-Orrn about the grave-stake, inside his home.
- Jaxsik-Orrn: "The … is it Etra's story of the grave-stake? Or the Hist's?"
- Grave-Singer Ki-At: "Both, my kaal. What is our story if not the story of the Hist?"
If you speak to him, he will be surprised that you beat Etra of the Many Spears:
- "You have Etra's grave-stake? I am … impressed, ojel. Show this stake to Jaxsik-Orrn. She will read its story."
Once Jaxsik-Orrn has read the grave-stake, if you speak to him, he dismisses you so he can further speak with her:
- "I have no time for you. Leave me."
DialogueEdit
He is amongst the visitors who have come to Root-Whisper Village to witness the renewal of the Hist tree and tribe. His dialogue will differ depending on who became the spirit guide.
If Jaxsik-Orrn became the spirit guide, he says.
- "Hmph. I erect the spine of deep pride.
The worth of a Dead-Water warrior lies in the nature of their death. Kaal Jaxsik-Orrn died in glory—a true servant of the Hist. We will burn many bones in Dead-Water Village. All will know her name."
Otherwise, if it was Xukas, he will instead say.
- "Hmph. My pride spines bristle.
The Dead-Water tribe is diminished without a kaal like Jaxsik-Orrn. But I know her place is here. She will lead with strength and wisdom. Perhaps we will finally have a tribe we can trust."
