The Clockwork Apostles have sent explorers into the Shadow Cleft to find out more about the mysterious realm and the reason it's connected to Clockwork City. One explorer hasn't returned, and I agree to try to find him.

Detailed WalkthroughEdit
Adjunct Daro can be found in the highest level of the Bank in the Brass Fortress. When speaking to him, he says:
- Adjunct Daro: I sent another apostle into the Shadow Cleft and he hasn't returned. I'm worried.
- Adjunct Daro: Not only am I anxious about the fate of my colleague, I'm concerned about the disposition of his notes. Without them, his efforts will amount to nothing.
- Player: Why did you send another apostle into the Shadow Cleft?
- Adjunct Daro: Who are you to question me? I'm one of Sotha Sil's Clockwork Apostles! Still, I suppose that's a fair question.
- Adjunct Daro: The Shadow Cleft represents a threat to the Clockwork City. We need every bit of information we can get if we're going to stop it.
- Player: Why is this place such a threat to you?
- Adjunct Daro: Not to me personally, but to Clockwork City. The Father of Mysteries didn't construct this marvelous place just to have it fall into the hands of a Daedric Prince!
- Adjunct Daro: Novice Oscard showed such potential. I hate to think what's happened to him in there.
- Player: Why am I looking for notes? Doesn't Oscard use a tabulator?
- Adjunct Daro: Oscard prefers to handle things using nothing but good, old-fashioned tools such as parchment and quills. Says they're more reliable than tabulators and sequence plaques.
- Adjunct Daro: Who knows? Maybe he's right. We can discuss it further after you find him.
You should then proceed to the Shadow Cleft. Novice Oscard's Notes can be found with a house near the middle of the map. Novice Oscard himself is found in the large structure in the middle of the circle on the map (the rightmost structure of the northern complex). He has been tied up, and says:
- Novice Oscard: The Denizens of the Evergloam are devious! They caught me by surprise and threatened to feed me to the crows!
- Player: Adjunct Daro and the Apostles sent me to find you. You're safe now.
- Novice Oscard: When the gears align, the world rotates at a pleasing pace. I'll run straight to the portal and back to the Clockwork City!
- Novice Oscard: Oh, but if you haven't already, please locate my research notes. I dropped them when they captured me.
After freeing Novice Oscard, you should return to Adjunct Daro in the Brass Fortress.
- Adjunct Daro: Novice Oscard told me what you did. Thank you!
- Player: And here are Oscard's research notes.
- Adjunct Daro: Look at that! Actual paper, how quaint. In the meantime, take this for what you did for Novice Oscard and the Clockwork City.
- Adjunct Daro: May your pistons never clog and your gears spin freely, my friend!
