Quick WalkthroughEdit

  1. Talk to Ja'kil.
  2. Confront Gothian.

Detailed WalkthroughEdit

Gothian is under the protection of the local bandit chieftain Yessil, but Ja'kil wants him for his own. Your job is to go see Gothian posing as one of Yessil's bandits. You can either keep up the pretense and say he's been outlawed, or (if you're greedy) tell him the truth - that you're working for Ja'kil. In the former case, Gothian will have no choice but to capitulate; in the latter, he'll give offer you information on getting out of the desert (if you haven't yet completed Sword Search) or 500 gold (if you have). In either case, return to Ja'kil to let him know how things turned out; if you chose the first option, you'll get the greater reward; if you chose the second, Gothian will remain under Yessil's auspices and you'll get the lesser reward.

10 The Lord of Moon Sugar wants me to confront the trader Gothian wearing bandit armor. If he is afraid of being attacked by bandits, he may choose to use their protection.
20 As it turns out, Gothian has ties to a bandit named Yessil who appears to be providing him with the mercenaries. I pretended that Yessil had withdrawn his trust, whereupon Gothian decided to swear allegiance to the Lord of Moon Sugar.
30 I told Gothian that I had come to him on behalf of the Lord of Moon Sugar. He wants to set a bandit named Yessil on the Khajiit, and in gratitude he almost willingly gave me some gold. (If you haven't completed the quest Sword Search) or' I told Gothian that I had come to him on behalf of the Lord of Moon Sugar. He wants to set a bandit named Yessil on the Khajiit, and gave me information that should help me leave the desert. (If you have.)
50 The Lord of Moon Sugar was very pleased with the outcome of my negotiations with Gothian.
100 Finishes quest  The Lord of Moon Sugar noted that I couldn't convince Gothian, but wasn't particularly surprised. He said he had already accounted for it. What is that supposed to mean?

Notes
  • Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
  • Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in random order.
  • If an entry is marked as "Finishes Quest" it means the quest disappears from the Active Quest list, but you may still receive new entries for that quest.
  •   It is possible to use the console to advance through the quest by entering setstage ODDDesertML03Quest stage, where stage is the number of the stage you wish to complete. It is not possible to un-complete (i.e. go back) quest stages. See SetStage for more information.
